My wife and I recently purchased a home in Victoria through Don Burnham of Re-Max. We would like to take this opportunity to pass on our recommendations. We found buying a house a huge financial decision with many areas of concern. Don's very patient approach and his knowledge of the local market were invaluable. We looked at many houses and Don was able to make us feel that he wanted us to find the right home for us; we never felt any sales pressure, which was a relief. In fact Don surely went out of his way to get us into houses, sometimes at very short notice when we noticed them on the internet or through the listings he sent us. At each house we visited Don advised us on what to look for specifically regarding problem areas. His general understanding of house construction, sewer maintenance, septic field operations, wells and utilities ensured we did not end up with a house that might have given us headaches down the road. In addition to this he continually gave sound guidance with regards to local bylaws and where we could find out more information if needed. For a period of time we were very interested in a new home that was in the building phase, this was a lengthy process that involved contacts with builders, other realtors, and architects, Don followed up on outstanding problems and kept us very well informed of the progress. To his credit, after several hours of work the deal fell through yet Don continued to help us and shortly after that he found us the house we eventually bought. When it came time to make an offer Don took the necessary time to prepare the contract of purchase and sale as well as discussing with us his reasons for coming up with the amount offered. His advice was logical and made good sense to us. We asked Don for recommendations for a home inspector and a lawyer, he let us know about a few in the local area that he knew were competent. We used the people recommended by Don and all of them have proven to be very professional. Without hesitation my wife and I would highly recommend Don to anyone wishing to purchase a home in the Victoria area.
