About Us:
I and my family have been in Colorado Springs since November 1985 when the Air Force assigned me to the Air Force Academy. After the first summer here, we knew we weren´t going to be leaving anytime soon. Everything we wanted in an area was right here or just a few miles away. Great weather, low humidity, few bugs, great hiking trails, camping sites, hunting, fishing, wild life viewing, scenic views from the road, trails, mountain tops, fabulous skiing at any one of the major ski areas that are within a 115 miles away, or white water river rafting to name a few. If you like photography, then get you batteries charged and extra memory cards for scenery and wild animals shots are everywhere. We were impressed with the schools (Dist 20) that all our kids (Erika 25, Matthew 23 and Kris 21) went through the entire schools system here (Rockrimmon Elementary, Foothills Elementary, Eagle View Middle school, Air Academy and Pine Creek high schools. And of course Boomer, the Beagle who has been drawing social security for the past 25 years. After all our travels in the military: Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Louisiana, England (UK), Italy, Vietnam(Lee only). Colorado Springs and Colorado by far has been our best assignment. In fact we like it so much here that we decided to retire here in 1989 rather than move else where. And like many of you, Arleen and I went to night school to finish our degrees since we were both working fulltime: Arleen has her BA and Lee has his BA and MA.
My wife, Arleen and I have been married since 1972. We have been high school sweethearts since 1968 when we graduated from the same high school in Bristol, Connecticut. The whole family works in Colorado Springs: Arleen works for a defense contractor, Erika works for a Christian publisher, Matthew works for a Christian Youth outreach group, and Kris (son) is currently enrolled at University of Wyoming at Laramie majoring in marketing and Air Force ROTC program. Arleen and I are members of St. Francis of Assisi Church since 1986.
Our family has been very active here in Colorado Springs: Girl Scouts, Silver Key (senior citizen assistance group), Muscular Dystrophy rubber duck float; Boy Scouts merit badge counselor, committee/advisory board member, trip coordinator, escort to Camp Alexander for supervision and special events coordinator (both Matthew and Kris are Eagle Scouts).
Arleen and I love to travel, hike, camp, take photographs, ski (snow) and discover new areas of Colorado that we haven´t seen before. History is everywhere: trails, mines, ghost towns, mills and log cabins to name a few.
