As a vice president of aircraft sales for corporate giant McDonald Douglas, Charlie Ahern traveled all over the world. In 1989, when he set his foot on the Crown Island- Coronado, he knew this is where he wanted to be- a Paradise on Earth. Now the Aherns have been practicing real estate in Coronado and led their own Real Estate Brokerage- Coronado Real Estate, Inc. aka Coronado Real Estate Consultants. Coronado Island is recently awarded #2 family beach in the U.S. by Travel Channel.
"Our clients appreciate our hard work, knowledge, honesty, integrity and our many years of sales and marketing experiences," said Charlie Ahern, who had a long and successful sales career at McDonnell Douglas Corporation (now Boeing). He earned an Executive MBA degree from the Peter F. Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University. Wife Susan Ahern was born in Beijing, China and earned a B.S. in business administration from the University of International Business and Economy. In 1989, she participated in the Tian'anmen Square Democracy Demonstrations in Beijing, one of the two most defining moments in her lifetime.
The Aherns have lived in Coronado for fourteen years. "There is no better place to live than Coronado," they say. Charlie is Certified Residential Specialist, Senior real estate specialist. Susan is e-Pro and member of Women's council of Realtors. They enjoy giving back to their community. They are members of Coronado Chamber of Commerce, Coronado Hospital Foundation, Coronado Historical Association, Coronado Floral Association, and the Crown Club. They are also lifetime members of Coronado School Foundation. Charlie is the Finance Chair of the United Methodist Church of Coronado. He was the President of Coronado Board of Realtors- 2006. Charlie is also board member of Optimist Club of Coronado. Susan Ahern is a board member of the United Methodist Women, and the Women's University Club of San Diego, San Diego Chinese Women Association, Women's Council of Realtors and Asian Business Association. She is a trustee of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, member of Coronado Rotary Club. She was recently awarded with Peacemaker Award by Coronado Human Relations Commission in April 2011.

I am somewhat belatedly sending this letter of your appreciation for the fine job you did on selling my two condo units at 1710 Avenida del Mundo. Certainly I appreciate the hard work you put in and the professionalism in matching this set of combined condos with the right buyer. I also appreciate the $25,000 advertising campaign that you launched to sell my unit and many approaches that you used to expose this combined unit to other brokers and to potential buyers. Most of all I appreciate the fact that you did not cease working on this after your listing period was up and you stuck with and proceeded to find the right buyer after your initial listing period came to a close. As you know, I own or have owed a total of 18 ocean-view condominiums in the Shores that I have remodeled. It was a fortunate day when we met Charlie and Susan Ahern. The sale of homes in our price range are usually more complicated and requires individuals with special skills in order to satisfy the requirements of both buyers and sellers.
We have purchased a number of homes over the past 30 years and have sufficient experience to be trusted when we say that without the competence and diligence of the Aherns, the escrow would not have been brought to a successful conclusion.
There must have been 1000 oral and written communications in the course of the negotiations. We can only say that the Aherns have the patience of Job. Normal mortals would have been defeated as they surmounted each of the obstacles that could have derailed the transaction.
