That's what I said years ago.  After living in apartments when I was younger (MUCH younger) I couldn't wait to get a home where I could have a dog.  When we moved into the Red Oak Neighborhood in Blaine, Minnesota, I just couldn't wait to get a new puppy dog.  And not just any dog, but the breed that I had as a child - one that slobbers too much and is WAY too vocal to have in an apartment - a Basset Hound!
Clyde was nearly a "Pound Puppy".  His owner didn't want him anymore because he was "getting goofy" and she was just about to send him to the human society.  Anyone who knows a Basset Hound knows that they are born goofy, but I think that's what I like the best about them.  The sad truth is that Basset Hounds suffer from abandonment more often than many other common breeds.  They are sooooo cute and cuddly when they are puppies, but eventually they grow into large, vocal, goofy, slobbery hound dogs who are pack hounds that do not especially like being left all alone all day.Even though I was looking for a puppy with really long ears and Clyde was a four ... more
