Q. I am seeking a non board of realtor affiliated RE brokerage to hang my license with. Should anyone know of a Utah brokerage that I could speak to I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you for your help.

In Utah a RE Brokerage MUST be board of realtors affiliated.  Curious why you wouldn't want to be associated?  For an active and valid license YOU must be a member of the board.

I'm curious becuase here in Utah we have one of the strongest political action committees and other government affairs committees and our boards and members have great relationships with our local and state governments.

Non-member response
Submitted 06/25/12 08:48 AM Jim, Thank you for your response. Just wanted to clarify so that you are aware of the regulations, you simply just need your license to hang with a Broker. Whether the broker is affiliated with the Board of Realtors is up to them, however if a broker is affiliated with the board and you hang your license with them then you must sign with that board also. As far as the board goes, I have been a member of two boards and believe they do great things as far as politics go locally, the NAR does great things nationally. You as an agent or broker are not required to be a member of the Board of Realtors to have an active and valid license. At this time I personally don't see the need to pay dues to the board for my non use of their services or store. Again thank you for your response, I appreciate the thought. Sincerely, Rhett

While you do not need to be a member of a board or the UAR or NAR, in order to have access to the MLS and have a supra key you do need to be a member of a board.
