Q. Is there a camera people are using to make wide angle shots that are not big Canon 5 D type cameras? It seems like I saw an article that showed a small flip type camera that got the same wide angle as the big daddy cameras and was sufficient for taking interior/exterior still shots of homes.

Almost any camera with interchangable lenses will work.  Cheap lenses are not nearly as bad as they use to be since most people are not making huge prints these days.  If your shots are mainly for use on a real estate website, don't even think about superior optics.

If you are using a point-and-shoot just make sure the lens goes down to about 28mm.  Anything wider than that will start to cause more noticeable and objectionable distortion.

I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix L810... it's great. Has the 28mm wide angle built into the zoom, and is perfect for our needs. Plus, it runs off AA batteries, not those expensive NiCad things. With all the bells & whistles, (case, tripod, etc) it was under $350. Highly recommend. Plus, I use the Energizer LIthium AAs, which, while almost twice the price of regular AAs, gives three or four times the battery life.
