Q. If a primary property type of a building is "office", can this be converted into a church?

Though I am in Washington, most churches are set up as "conditional use" function for the property.  You would have to look into what the requirements are for getting the zoning set to allow church on that property.

I see no reason why not. You would have to check zoning and what is allowed. You may need to get a variance for use. Every city is different!

It's all tied to "Zoning" as far as Commercial Uses are concerned. It's  possible (but doubtful) that your office building is zoned the same use as Religious Facility. It is also difficult to get a city zoning chage or CUP for office to church.

There are many reasons for this and I will try to explain briefly.

  1. Fire Codes
  2. parking regulations
  3. Non Profit status of Religious Organizations.

The best source for correct information on Commercial Projects will come from a Commercial brokerage
