On August 2nd the Senate financed committee narrowly passed legislation to extend the the IRS Debt Relief Act and was supposed to be put to a vote in September. It was delayed the required vote by the full Senate due to the Senate Recess and the current election. It will not go to vote until after the elections and is now going to be the political football for both parties.
