John's lifelong pastime has been volunteering and since moving to BC with his family in 1989 he has remained active in the Tri-Cities area. His background includes: 

• Economic, Tourism, & Arts Development Committee, City of Port Moody;
• Past President of the Arts Council in the Tri-Cities;
• Served as a Trustee on the Coquitlam Library Board; and,
• Nationally, as a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, John was named Jaycee of the year for Canada.
