As the former general manager of both Kiawah Island Resort and Wild Dunes Resort, Jeff Akers harnessed its principles in the business arena when he helped guide and grow the two largest resort communities in the Charleston area.  As a young athlete, he saw its power on the baseball diamond, the gridiron and on the hardwood floor of the basketball gymnasium. 

Jeff takes time to get involved with his girls' athletic endeavors. His family is the foundation for his success.

As a devoted father, Jeff witnessed how it can shape character and build winning attitudes as he coached his daughters and other young athletes on Charleston's soccer fields and basketball courts.  What is this powerful force?  Teamwork.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Jeff's family moved to Michigan when he was six.  Graduating from Albion College with a Bachelor of Arts in Business, Jeff moved to Colorado, partly to pursue his passion for snow skiing, and partly to pursue a business opportunity in the resort industry.  Eventually, Jeff accepted a position in Charleston, where he found the perfect place to call home for him and his four daughters, Samantha, Eliza and his twins, Tessa and Grace. 

Here, Jeff found a thriving community, beautiful beaches and a quality of life that was invigorating.  "It's a beautiful, historic and well preserved city surrounded by unbelievable beaches in all directions," Jeff explains.

It's been over 15 years since he made the move and Jeff has never looked back.  He's become an incredible expert in the unique communities and lifestyle of the Charleston area.
