THE TRUTH ABOUT AMY MILLER AND THE REMAX SUNQUEST TEAM! Tales

I must honestly tell you that writing about myself is like writing your own resume, selling your own home or taking out your own appendix.  It can be difficult to do and sometimes just a bad idea to boot! 

That said, that's why I have always put more relevance in what my clients say about working with me (and the RE/MAX SUNQUEST TEAM) rather than what I say about working with me.  In fact, I have always found that my personal testimonial is nowhere near as powerful as theirs.  Imagine that?  Their truth over my truth.   Like I said, writing about myself can be difficult to boot!

Speaking of truth, I want you to know that I am courageously truthful in my real estate business and in my life, as well.  I work from that stand in all that I do.  It serves my clients well.  And it makes my life really great too.  It's amazing how being truthful in business as in life builds wonderful and meaningful relationships.  These relationships over time are the things I cherish most in my life!Uncle Bob Ryan Ryan Family Golf Outing

For example, my Uncle Bob Ryan, is one of the most unique, quirky, smart and funny people I have ever known.  And I have known him since birth.  (He was the one standing in the nursery at the hospital with the Howdy Doody suction cup stuck to his forehead.  To this day, you can easily recognize him, as he is the one with the big red spot of broken blood vessels in the center of his forehead.) At any rate, he always says, "Screwy Baby, you collect human beings like other people collect rare coins".  I guess he's right.  You've heard that song. Here's what I can safely say about myself.  I know that when my time on this earth is almost over and I call to the person standing next to me for one final request,  I can't imagine that I will say "Susan, please bring me my Apple iphone and that wonderful 42" flat screen TV one more time...(although I really enjoy them a great deal too)." Although, I may go for the cheap laugh, and I have been know to do that too.  I think it's safe to say, that more likely you'll hear me calling for that fine, quirky, funny, brilliant, wild and wonderful collection of human beings I fondly call my family, friends, associates, and clients.  But watch out, I may ask for one final group photo or a  group hug that I can upload to YOU TUBE.

Here's what I know to be true about the truth.  Not everybody wants to hear it.  Of course, this means that I don't get to work with everyone who asks me to be their realtor. You can probably guess why. Why? Because not all people want to hear the truth.  I choose to work with the people who want the truth.  Especially in a declining or correcting real estate market, such as the market we have been operating in for 2 years now. 

There are emotions that drive the market.

Simply stated here are the principals that guide my real estate business and my life too.

These guiding principles are integrated into everything I do.  Especially when it comes to getting your home listed and sold quickly! 

  1. Have I differentiated your home in the market place? 
  2. Have I added value to your real estate experience? 
  3. Have I simplified the process from beginning to end? 
  4. Have I clarified the message and the communication?  

You see, Real Estate is a "Me Too Marketing Industry".  As realtors, we are taught to follow certain processes.  Use certain systems.  Market certain ways.

But guess what?  If everybody is doing same thing especially in a market like the one we are in right now--an unbalanced market where there are many more Seller than Buyers, then, the question becomes:

Boat in harbor"How do we differentiate your property in such a way as to get your home sold quickly and before anybody else's?"  In other words, if the market is the sea, then, there are way too many boats on the sea.  My quest is to get your boat into the harbor before anybody elses.

Therefore, I am constantly asking myself this question.  And, like my favorite fictional character Don Quixote says... "This is my quest! To follow that star..."  Feel free to sing along if so inspired.

So, besides my quest to get your house sold as quickly as possible, my goals are to maximize your sale price, eliminate mistakes, and make the process fun, creative, and just down right delightful!

This is one of my favorite quotes!

Unfortunately, in the real estate business Sellers or Buyers don't always want to hear the truth.  Even more unfortunate, some real estate agents don't always want to tell you the truth either.  Instead of telling the truth in the beginning of the listing or buying process when they have every opportunity to do so, some agents just tell the client what the client wants to hear.  Why do agents do this?  Fear.  Fear that they will lose the listing.  Or fear that the Buyer will go work with someone else.  And guess what?  It is usually a self fulfilling prophecy.  Six months later the house is not sold.  The clients are upset.  The listing expires and the process starts all over again.  And we wonder why our profession is ranked so very low on the trust scale.  Right below used car salesmen and politicians. 

So, here's my promise to you.

1.  I always tell you the truth and I ask that you do the same.  Now this means that I don't work with everyone.  But I dare say, this arrangement works just fine with me.   I love to work with clients who will be my partners in the process.  Partners who will be part of the solution.  I love telling the truth.  It is the foundation of my business.  

2.  I do last things first and first things last.  Now for those of you who have never worked with me and the RE/MAX TEAM this may seem a tad bit strange.  But I told you we do things differently. Remember we differentiate!  There are many reasons why we work from the back end of the deal to the front end of the deal.  But let me give you an example.  We appraise every property first.  Why?  Because:

  • We want Seller's to have another expert opinion available to them as to what the market value of their home is.
  • We want to give Buyer's the confidence to know that they are not overpaying for the property.  In this market this is key.
  • We want Buyer's to know upfront that the house will appraise for the amount of their Purchase Agreement.  We want them to know up front that the deal will work.  Then, it can be closed much quicker if need be. 

This is just one of the many examples of why we do last things first.   When we meet with you in person, we'll reveal many more trade secrets.

3.  I do things other realtors won't do.  In fact, I dare say if a realtor is doing something a certain way, I am ususally doing just the opposite.  For example, if a realtor is not willing to hold an Open House on a holiday, I am most likely having one.  I have sold many houses having them Open on Mother's Day, or Father's Day, or Memorial Day etc.  I'll do all sorts of creative marketing around Open houses too.  i.e. Cross marketing Open House events with other realtors who also have listings in the area, doing Extreme Open Houses (more on this when I meet with you in person).  The point is, I purposefully look for ways to differentiate your property in the marketplace.  Some have said, I can quite bold and even outrageous and it works! 

4.  I focus on what I have, not on what I don't have.   In the real estate industry, we are taught as real estate agents to go out and get those listings!  Get those listings no matter what!  And keep getting those listings!  Therefore, much of our time is spent on attracting new listings.  When, truthfully, we should be spending our time on getting your house sold.  Especially in this market.  So, here's what I do differently.  Again, I am differentiating your house in the marketplace.  I focus on getting your house sold!  Imagine that? So, guess what happens?  I get your house sold!  Then, guess what happens?  New listings show up!  In fact, the new listings appear almost effortlessly.  All this, because I have done a good job for you.  You are my number one asset.  You are my focus.  You are the goose that's helps me lay the golden egg.
