Get to Know Doug Gonzales

I started my career in 1990, working at Bank of America. My experience includes: Collections, Short Sales, Loss Mitigation, Special Assets, Natural Disasters, and Loan Originations. I was part of a pilot at Bank of America: Loan By Phone, and worked in various positions throughout my 7 years at the bank. I obtained my Real Estate License in 1994.  It was a hard time for real estate agents and professionals of this industry. Interest rates were much higher than today, and many people were forced to sell "Short."

In 1997, I joined the Asset Management team at The Money Store, and managed a group of Foreclosure Specialists. It was an interesting time working in this "Less than Perfect Credit" climate. This was my first introduction to the SubPrime Mortgage Industry, and it reminded me a lot of FHA. (ha ha !!)

In 2000, I graduated with my degree in Business Management and started in a new direction. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter sold me on the idea of becoming a stock guru! I passed my Series 7 and 66, and was sent off to training at the World Trade Center. It was bad timing. The over-inflated stock market was too depressing for me, so I went back to what I know: Real Estate and Loans!

I joined a small firm for a short time before joining Prudential CA Realty and was selling my socks off in Real Estate.

I have accomplished Masters Level of achievement by the local association, and have built a business.

Certifications

Today, I work as the Loan Manager at Choice One Funding. We are the exclusive lender for Great West GMAC. We are located in their new office in Elk Grove. We specialize in Purchase Loans, Refinances, FHA financing, Instant Credit Decisions, and Reverse Mortgages.

I also teach Real Estate Agents how to close Short Sales. This is an Art. One that cannot be learned by attending a seminar or by stumbling your way through it, as many new agents to this field have discovered. An Agent must understand the philosophy of the deal, and make your case with the lender on the clients behalf. You must also be eager to close on the deal regardless of the stumbling blocks that come your way. It is the agents job to master the "Art of Negotiations" and be willing to come up with creative solutions that all parties can live with to close the transaction.

The best decision you can make is to call a professional to help you through it. I would be happy to share my experiences and expertise to ensure a smooth transition. I also work with agents in the office at Great West GMAC to help negotiate the short sale listings they have, and I am paid directly by the agent for my time. (on your behalf)
