About the Old City:
Spanish explorer and treasure hunter Don Juan Ponce de Leon first sighted the Florida coast on an Easter Sunday in 1513.
In 1564 King Phillip II named Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles governor of Florida. In August 1565, on the Feast Day of St. Augustine, Menendez and his fleet arrived off of the Florida coast.

Crescent Beach
Crescent Beach is located in the southern area of St. Johns County on the wildlife refuge of Anastasia Island.
ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH St. Augustine Beach is located on Anastasia Island.
ANASTASIA STATE PARK AND RECREATION AREA
Anastasia State Recreation Park is a protected bird sanctuary.
VILANO BEACH Vilano Beach is just over the Usina Bridge.
NORTH BEACH (USINA)
North Beach is just past Vilano Beach.
SOUTH PONTE VEDRA BEACH
South Ponte Vedra Beach is just south of Ponte Vedra, but beach access is limited.
GUANA RIVER STATE PARK
Guana River State Park is a 2,000 acre sanctuary for endangered species just north of St. Augustine on A1A North.
