Frequently Asked Questions

What is Real Estate Home Staging?
Home Staging is the art of broadening the appeal of a home's features and increasing the market of potential by really maximizing the use of space. This is done by showcasing architectural highlights and creating an inviting environment buyers can envision themselves living in.

Your home is typically your largest asset and the competition when selling these days is very challenging. The way you live in your home and the way you market your home are two very different and distinct things.

Why should I Stage my home?
How buyers first see your home influences their thoughts and feelings, both consciously and subconsciously. Most buyer decide if they are interested in your home within the first ten seconds. This initial reaction makes the difference between a swift sale and a house that remains on the market.

Buyer's emotions dramatically affect their perceived value of your property. A buyer will try to decrease your equity by mentally reducing their offer each time they see something they find unappealing. A properly correctly staged will command a higher asking price and sell faster.

76% of Realtors recommend Staging a home BEFORE it goes on the market! In most cases, your home can be staged in just one day using furniture and decorative items you already own, or by adding a few touches to complete the look. If you have a vacant listing or a model home that needs furniture and accent pieces, we have a large inventory ready to make the home shine!

Does Home Staging Really Work?

  • Staged homes sell in 13.9 days vs. 30.89 unstaged.
  • Staged homes often sell for 30 - 50% more than the list price
  • A 2003 HomeGain Survey of 2,000 real estate agents nationwide found that moderately priced home improvements, ranging from $80-2,800, made in preparation for sale, actually yield the highest returns when a house is sold.
  • By using Accredited Staging Professionals, like Stylish Transformations, you are entitled to list your home for sale on Stagedhomes.com. This site gets 2,000,000 hits a month!

We want to stage our home but we don't think we can afford it.
Staging before listing costs less than the cost of your first price reduction. We are very sensitive to all budgets and will help you choose the most cost-effective approach when working with us.

You've made great suggestions, but I don't have time to complete them. Now what?
For clients merely seeking a consultation, we will leave you with a "to do" list to make your home more appealing to buyers and brokers. If you are feeling that you are not able to complete the work on your own, you may hire us to complete the work. This service includes overseeing projects from detailed cleaning, painting, assisting with the purchase of furniture pieces and the staging itself.

Why do I need to make repairs to my home if I am moving? No one will notice!
Although not every home needs repairs, we have found that buyers who have been looking at potential homes for a while DO notice smaller details such as a bad paint job, cracks in the ceiling, a stained kitchen countertop or outdated bathroom fixtures. Simple projects such as these can be changed inexpensively and make your house stand out from the competition. You may decide to complete only the suggestions we make regarding furnishings, de-cluttering and accessories, but we will always advise you on the obvious repairs that make your home more appealing.

What if our home is empty?
Empty homes typically do not show as well because buyers are unable to visualize what it would look like with furniture. Professional Home Stagers will choose proper furnishings and accessories for your home and will work within your budget to either stage the entire space or small vignettes that will suggest to the buyer the "idea" of the room. We will use furniture from our own inventory that is yours until the house is sold.
