About Home Status Inspection Company
Home Status Inspection is an independent, privately owned and operated, Home Inspection Company based in Haymarket, VA and serving all of Northern Virginia.
When I tell people that I built my own house 25 years ago I get some pretty enthusiastic responses. Frankly, at the time, it didn't seem like an unusual thing to do. Afterall, my grand fathers on both sides built their houses in Fulton Missouri and Osage Iowa. I guess that was another time. I built my house using nights and weekends...I still had another job in trade association management. The project included all framing and finish work, electrical, plumbing, appliance installation, and all under the watchful eye of the Prince William County code inspectors.
I have had a number careers in my working life. Advertising, Association Management, System Sales, but all the while, I was cultivating a love for DIY projects that have included: completely restoring a 80 year old farm house, designing and building, a modern, energy efficient house and along the way, individual projects, including electrical wiring, plumbing, hardwood flooring, a spiral staircase, retaining walls, land scaping, deck building, roofing, windows, appliance installs, etc.,
My home inspection training included an extensive apprenticeship with one of the areas most experienced home inspectors, Bill Meininger of Home Diagnostics Inc. I attended and participated in over 125 inspections during that training and at the end, took the lead on inspections. I took supplemental training courses with ITA, Inspection Training Associates, whose office in Manassas Virginia was a great resourse. I took and passed ITA's grueling home inspection test and later took and passed the even harder National Home Inspector Exam. This is the exam that is used by many states and industry associations as a certification standard.
I am certified by the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors in inspection skills, Standards of Practice, and Code of Ethics. I am certified in the State of Virginia #3380000282.
