Highlights from NAR, New Orleans - 07:25 AM
With a record setting 25,000 Realtors flooding the city of New Orleans for the annual National Association of Realtors Convention, crazy stuff was bound to happen.  So, for those of you that did not make the trip to NAR, here is a brief recap of yesterday’s events.

A SOLDIER IN THE COPYRIGHT BATTLE - 03:12 PM
KRISTAL, YOU JUST MADE MY DAY ! ! ! !
I just read a helpful post by Jim Lee about tracking copyright violators through Google search.  One of the comments was from Kristal Kraft who posted that she is pursuing copyright violators.
Thank you Kristal.  It's been lonely out here.  I know that Alice Held has vigorously pursued copyright violators in the past.  Certainly, my battles over the past 2 years have been documented.  I very much welcome another real estate professional who will stand up and defend their property.
This is a hard battle to fight.  The copyright violators have the easy job.  Just … (32 comments)

Negatives Can Be Turned Into Positives If Everyone Works Together. - 08:46 PM
One of my Realtor Partners sent me one of her Buyers on Friday to be Pre-Qualified.  This Realtor, has been great to work with, because she does not waist her time or mine, gets to the point, and when she sends me someone they are usually a good Buyer.  So when she sent me this Buyer on Friday I got on it right away.  The house that this Buyer wants to purchase is the house of a Borrower that I did a loan for about four to five months ago. They had enough money to purchase the new house and not … (55 comments)

System Off-line Notice - 11:08 PM
This evening at 10:00 James and Ben will be taking the system offline to do some maintenance and to change our hardware.  As many of you know we had a major hardware failure earlier this week.  That failure resulted in some instability for The Network over this last week.  We have been working with our server provider to remedy what happened.  We will be making some significant hardware upgrades.
This evening we will be offline for approximately two hours.  We will be making other adjustments later in the week as well.
I am sorry that we will be going offline and I … (13 comments)

Tracking Mortgage Rates - 09:58 AM
I recently added a mortgage rate watch content block on my Point2 site.  See it on my Home Buying Process page.  I got it from a Google site that has a whole bunch of Google gadgets.  There is some pretty fun stuff on the gadgets page, but I don't want to clutter my website with lots of fun Google thihgs that aren't meaningful to people who are actually looking for real estate related items. … (7 comments)

Looking for Ideas? - 04:37 PM
Ok, I was touring Realtor.org and I came across a great resource on their Rookie Page.  Does one need to be a Rookie to benefit from such ideas?  Absolutely not!  What is great that sometimes by going back to the basics you can become a big winner!  If you haven't been to http://www.realtor.org/ in awhile, take a chance an go over and learn something to help you jump start 2007!
You will need your NRDS id to log-in and see many of the articles, but that is a good thing!  It means that only those of us that are members of the … (12 comments)

Is Re-Financing Always Worthwhile? - 11:54 AM
This is a very important question all homeowners should ask themselves both at the start and towards the end of the process of re-financing. The answer to this question can spur the homeowner to investigate re-financing further or convince the homeowner to table the thoughts of re-financing for the moment and concentrate on other aspect of owning a home. The following is a basic process to help you analyze whether or not a Re-finance is right for you.
Establish Financial Goals
This should be the first step in the process of determining whether or not re-financing is worthwhile. Without this step, a … (0 comments)

Implimentation House of the Mouse moved to my room last night.. - 10:11 AM
Can't tell you how many times I go to conventions and come home with lists of things to do.  So i wanted to share a tip I got from a Howard Brinton seminar years and years ago.  Keep a list of at least the top 10 things you are going to do and set a date for when you want to complete that task.
My notes list is quite extensive but I will be reading two new books one on Blogging which I can't wait for Mary McKnights review, and the other Ripping the Roof off of Real Estate by Molllie Wasserman also … (8 comments)

Buyer rebates. Good business or potential fraud? - 03:39 PM
On Friday, I had written a post, that facilitated quite a discussion about our commissions and how we justify what we charge. If you read my post and the 110+ comments, it generated, you saw that the consumer, Mr. CandiBags showed up. He asked a pretty good question, that I would like to expand upon here.
How do you feel about Buyer's Agents rebating a portion of their commission to the Buyer? Well my immediate answer was that I could not care less. I am a listing side Realtor and it does not effect me at all. But then I started thinking … (143 comments)

My first blog while co-hosting an open house with one of realtors - 02:45 PM
Dear Active Rain Members,
I am happy to share that this is my first blog during an open house.  I type pretty fast so it won't take much time and I can still speak with my realtor and still write this blog.
I actually just blogged about this New Construction Colonial Home that I am co-hosting with one of my realtors and I chose CONSUMER and then picked Connecticut, Fairfield County and Bridgeport.
I did notice that I did not receive any points for the blog which is fine but my question to you is do the listing blogs get picked … (14 comments)

The Mouse Hotel - 08:56 PM
While at NAR Convention in New Orleans the mouse patrol was out!  There was a pesty little guy roaming looking for the best cheese. But the hotel maintenance guys, they were defintely out tracking him!  Escape artist!
Our meeting with the Cyberprofessionals was great!  We had about 32 of us to share ouf 15 mins of fame!  Then on Saturday, we had spread out on the trade show floor looking for the cool new stuff.  It was terrific with a few less vendors from years past.  But, there was some new vendors there struting their stuff.  We had our cool spot stickers out for everyone … (4 comments)

Seattle Seahawks host the divisional rivals - 11:17 AM
The 5-3 Seattle Seahawks host the 4-4 St. Louis Rams in a NFC West Divisional showdown at Quest Field. Seattle is still missing their Probowl Quaterback, Matt Hasselbeck and MVP Running Back, Shaun Alexander but even without these to  players the Hawks show they can still win. Senca Wallace, starting QB, will have to playing a top game and using all the assets at his disposable.
Last week Wallace made his second NFL start and he is a very diversified quarterback, running, passing and sometimes at the same time. There were multiple times when Wallace had to scramble out of the pocket, by … (6 comments)

The Wisdom of Sharing - 10:08 AM
There are many variations on the story of stone soup, but they all involve a traveler coming into a town beset by famine. The inhabitants try to discourage the traveler from staying, fearing he wants them to give him food. They tell him in no uncertain terms that there's no food anywhere to be found. The traveler explains that he doesn't need any food and that, in fact, he was planning to make a soup to share with all of them. The villagers watch suspiciously as he builds a fire and fills a cauldron with water. With great ceremony, he pulls … (3 comments)

Katrina Cottages for hurricane-devasted areas - 10:35 AM
There's no way to visit New Orleans and not realize the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Some NAR attendees took tours out into the devasted areas. But just staying in the small area between hotel and convention center, you know. You just know. Meeting locals, you can't help but ask, How were you affected? Are you back home? How many people are back around you? Was the water here...or here...orhere?  The many Realtors and exhibitors in New Orleans for their conference are helping just by being there, and spending their money, and talking about New Orleans. Many physically helped in the building … (14 comments)

On a quiet canal in the Pinellas Point area of St. Petersburg, Florida you can see forever - or at least out to the beautiful Skyway Bridge.

The wonderful renovation gives this home a contemporary and Asian feel:  the fountain in the entry garden, the circular window from the foyer into the dining room...
The kitchen is a delight to the senses as well as being practical. Two shades of granite swirl around the large kitchen with curved counters at two levels. Beautiful cabinetry makes you want to touch it, and the glass fronts let you … (0 comments)
