ActiveRain Week in Review Suggestion - 03:11 PM
I was reading the comments over at Jeff Belonger's post and thought I'd ask for some feedback on this suggestion:
If enough ActiveRain members were interested, perhaps we could take turns hosting the "ActiveRain Week in Review" posts on our AR blogs, similar to the way that the "Carnival of ActiveRain" has members who pick a category to choose a winner from.
We could keep a calendar schedule going in a forum post where members can sign up for a particular week.  Some additional suggestions include:
The same member cannot host a review post more than once every six weeks (more?  less?).Due to the fact that … (12 comments)

My desk is a mess... - 07:07 PM
A few days ago I wrote my business plan for 2007 in the process I totally trashed the organization of my desk and my life.  You see, I have my Real Estate business and my husband's TV Post Production business and, of course, our house business --- all of these end up on my desk!
In planning 2007 for my Real Estate business, I pulled from several files to get at the numbers I needed to devise my plan.  Well most of that mess I re-organized earlier today.  I still have to write Magnetic's plan for 2007, most of that info is neatly … (1 comments)

Aloha Baby! - 02:33 AM

So we're on the plane and off to Oahu. It's been interesting so far, to say the least. We ran across the Playboy girls in LAX airport (I didn't know who the heck they were..my wife pointed it out) and got bumped from a Southwest flight to an ATA flight. After getting the stupid seats that don't recline and sitting next to a hard core smoker, we moved to better seats. Yea, the ones behind the screaming children! But, we're off and on our way. The pilot has a sense of humor, which is good. He said, "we'll be looking at a lot of … (7 comments)

Real Estate in 2027 - 02:44 AM

Just picture it, it's the year 2027. Real Estate as we know it is much different now than it was 20 years ago. Back then, we were using websites like Trulia, Realtor.com, HouseValues.com and most of all, Google. Remember that website? Where you could do web searches and find almost anything on the Internet! Active Rain was a just a startup Real Estate blog, now look at it! To think we were blogging back then and now we are doing 100% paperless Real Estate transactions from start to finish and virtual tours in buyers' living rooms with holograms. Oh, how the … (2 comments)

Dear Santa - 02:51 AM

Dear Santa~
Ok Santa, cough it up! I know you've got the goods for the big kids and I've got some requests. Have I been naughty? Maybe a bit...but overall, I've been pretty nice. I return phone calls for my clients in a timely fashion; I help them get out of bad debts, buy new homes and more importantly, I get them into better loan scenarios than they are currently in, that match up with their goals and objectives. Refinancing them out of Option Arms and 3-5 year adjustable products from a few years ago that are now starting to adjust upward … (4 comments)

St George Utah, the Mecca of safe living - 11:18 AM

Realtor Magazine Online, claims St George Utah is one of the saftest places in America, see the article.  If you read the rest of the article you'll notice a number of locations are also in the Rocky Mountain region of our country.  If your working with clients looking for stability and security it's hard not to like my home state of Utah.
The real estate market was hot in Saint George over the last few years, and homes under certain values are still selling quickly.  It's cooled some from the past previous 40% Plus gains, but I wouldn't gamble on Saint George … (0 comments)

"On Being a Groupie!" - 02:31 PM
There seems to be some concern and frustration being voiced over the recent launch of ActiveRain's "Groups - Beta."
It all started with Karen Hurst's blog entitled, "Group Confusion,"  and then was further developed by Marc Blasi's runaway freight train blog, "New Group Confusion."  Karen's post dealt with the annoying proliferation of irrelevant blogs that were showing up in various groups. Marc's blog simply reiterated her point, but took on a life of it's own, as things can tend to do sometimes here on ActiveRain. In fact, the conversation is still going on in another Part II spin-off blog posted by Jeff Belonger.

HOUSING MARKET IS GOING TO DOGS - LITERALLY - 08:49 PM
Real Estate market is getting more and more creative. I've just found this article and decided to post it here. Since I am a crazy dog lover, I am all for it. I mean the idea of selling it, not building it for my pets. My pets prefer my couch. Read the story...
"Doggie Mansions, a company in West Palm Beach that builds designer doghouses priced from $10,500 to $100,000, is offering 10 percent commissions to real estate professionals who make the sale. Partners (and dog lovers) Stacy Small and Donald Gorbach, a veteran real estate practitioner, started the company last summer … (0 comments)

Taking Personal Responsibility - 10:19 PM
This is one of the the main issues that we have in our every day life, being responsible for our actions and making choices. What we think about-we talk about and what we talk about-we bring about. And we are totally responsible of who we are and where we are now. Brian Tracy described it the best ... "Did you ever stop to think that everything you are or ever will be is completely up to you? Just imagine! You are where you are because of who you are. Everything that exists in your life exists because of you, because of your … (2 comments)

Locust Grove Overpass Project - 07:08 PM
You don't need to live in the Treasure Valley long to realise that one of the biggest infrastructure problems we have right now is a lack of North-South roads to carry traffic over I-84.  The problem is most noticeable on the Eagle Road corridor from Eagle at Highway 44 (State Street) through Meridian to the freeway and over to the south part of the county.  Eagle Road now carries so much traffic that you can find problems there any time of the day.
Today, the Idaho Transportation Department took the first step on the next part of its plan to alleviate some of … (0 comments)

Utopia, Pfizer, Mohegan Sun & Foxwoods - 09:10 PM
Southeastern Connecticut has been making the news day after day recently.
Utopia was a $1.6 billion proposed theme park, movie studio, entertainment complex to be situated on a former state hospital site located between the Mohegan Sun Casino and the Foxwoods Resort and Casino.  After listening to proposals form the Utopia developer and then never seeing him perform on what was promised the town of Preston, CT said no more.

Market Data for NOVEMBER 2006 - Carlsbad, CA - 07:13 PM
Here are the summary statistics from the MLS for the month of November for Carlsbad, CA.
Some interesting things to note - inventory dropped 9% from last month. There was no change in the median price for attached homes from the previous month, but an increase of 1% for detached homes. However, both showed a decline in median price as compared to 1 year ago. We may be starting to see a slowing in the market over the next month or so which is typical during the holiday season.
If I can provide more information, or otherwise be of assistance, please let me … (2 comments)
