Beauty is Our Duty! - 04:19 PM

As I drove by a hair salon called Utra Lux in Redondo Beach, CA today I noticed two cute and catchy slogans on their windows.  I tried to link but their site seems down.  Nevertheless, this is a really great salon founded by a high school friend, Danielle.  They are hard to read in these pics but the slogans are: "BEAUTY IS OUR DUTY" and "LOVE IS IN THE HAIR".
These cracked me up and got me thinking of Home Staging slogans.  For fun, I came up with the following silly slogans for Home Staging and I have instructed my family and … (4 comments)

For Sale By Owner... The risky side of selling your home alone - 04:44 PM
For Sale By Owner... The risky side of selling your home alone
By Brian Ortiz, Chicago Real Estate
Chicago IL Real Estate
Typically most sellers list their homes with a Realtor, however some individuals choose to handle the selling of their home on their own. Selling a home under "For Sale By Owner", is absolutely possible, but there are some hurdles and risks involved.
"For Sale by Owner" sellers are motivated to save the cost of the real estate agent's commission. In some cases, however, selling on your own can result in a lower closing price that crosses out those gains. In a recent survey of more than 7,800 buyers and sellers around the … (1 comments)

SMOKING CAN CERTAINLY BE AN ISSUE - 07:05 AM
Since the time when it became no longer in vogue, smoking has become a hot-button issue in so many areas of our lives, so much so, that it can affect almost everything we do. Maybe it's because I'm a former smoker that I'm so sensitive to it. I believe that if I were a smoker today, I'd be far more careful of how and where I smoked and certainly more conscience of the effect it can have on the valuation of my assets.
I don't know the statistics, but I would bet that if you smoke in your car and go to … (2 comments)

Realistic Real Estate Resolutions - 01:33 PM
I just posted this post on my personal blog - but I wanted to go ahead and post it here too! I hope that you enjoy it. I would love to hear your input.
Realistic Real Estate Resolutions I always love the beginning of another year. It is the perfect time to assess your mistakes from last year, and learn from them, and then most important move on. It is also time for the ever famous - New Years Resolutions! I am not a big fan of Resolutions. Yes, the idea is great, but what happens to me is that I … (0 comments)

I Spent My Saturday Fishing While on Floor Duty - 09:17 PM
When I started with my real estate office 3-1/2 years ago the office was closed and dark on the weekends.  I thought to myself this is really strange.  Aren't most buyers working during the week and looking at properties on the weekends?
At the time I worked full time at the State Legislature and was primarily putting in weekends, evenings and lunch time to get the business started.  So my week days were limited, I would burn up vacation hours to make showings during the day.  I asked the brokers if they had a problem with me opening the office on the … (23 comments)

2006 Top Real Estate Stories - 06:57 PM
A british real estate agent takes puffing to new level. He decided honesty was the best way to go. In his ads he described homes as "grubby, cramped, and dirty", "having all the charm and poise of a vicar on crack", "suitable for the Addams Family", or "It's difficult to imagine a more disgusting house than this". His clients, I am assuming buyer, actually appreciated his honesty. When he started using sexual innuedo, his ads were not longer printed.

The Risky Side of Selling a Home on Your Own - 04:15 PM
The vast majority of sellers list their home with a real estate agent, but some individuals choose to go through the selling process on their own. Selling a home "For Sale By Owner", while entirely possible, does come with a list of hurdles and some significant risks.
Un-represented sellers are motivated to save the cost of the agent's commission. In many cases, however, selling without assistance can result in a lower closing price that negates such gains. In a survey of more than 7,800 buyers and sellers from around the country, the 2005 National Association of Realtors® Profile of Home Buyers … (0 comments)

Preventing Water Damage in your home - 04:17 PM
For homeowners, water can be a quiet villain. This seemingly innocuous element can harm your house gradually over time or in sudden disastrous events. A home that is water damaged can be a health hazard to its occupants and is very often expensive to repair.
Common Causes of Water and Moisture DamageWater damage can be grouped into two general sources: 1) leaks of external water through the home's exterior and 2) moisture accumulation from internal sources. Below are some of the most frequent causes of moisture damage:
Roof/Flashing Needs Repair - Worn or broken roofing material can expose your home to … (1 comments)

Localism Site - 09:36 AM
The new site is coming!  The new site is coming!  We're all excited to see how it will look to the general public and if all the work many of us have been putting in will come to be benefitial to all.  As New Jersey agents, we may speak for others when we say we feel somewhat like the middle child.  Or "Does everyone Love Raymond"?
How will we be seen by the general public without scrolling through five thousand posts by the number one blogger in the State?  We just want to put it out there to the rest of the … (8 comments)

Number One Realtor! - 09:14 PM
As I read through the Local Newspapers thumbing through page after page of Realtor Ads all proclaiming to be "Number 1", I'm left to ponder what it means and how does this label pertain to the general public?  If you're a Buyer, for instance, are you concerned with how much your Realtor of choice sold and for how many years in a row?  Will it be important to you to know how many homes your Realtor of choice Listed if you are thinking of Selling your Home?  How many Sales would be a sufficient number to instill confidence?  I ponder these points because it … (4 comments)

Text linking and landing pages - Make your site spider food! - 02:01 PM
Happy New Year to all, after a little hiatus I am back to post, here goes: This is a reply to an associate of mine, I felt that it was worth posting up here, his question was in regards to text linking, but I got excited on the topic and expanded on it with some more ideas - it covers some tips on text linking, link exchanging and using adwords more effectively.....
okay, no problem. Just pick your phrase, for example "Springfield Real Estate" then make it a hyperlink to a page that should be link to "http://yourwebsite.com/Springfield_Real_Estate.html" (or php, or whatever file extension … (2 comments)

Rich Man, Pitch Man - 06:09 PM
By MICHELLE RITTNER
Dec. 20, 2006 - Most Americans know Donald Trump as a multimillionaire real estate magnate and producer and star of television's "The Apprentice." But "The Donald" is not only an icon in the worlds of real estate and TV - he is a master of selling himself, and his name, to a vast array of products.
The Trump name graces Manhattan skyscrapers, Atlantic City casinos and Las Vegas hotels. It appears on a host of products, ranging from men's business clothing in the Donald J. Trump Signature Collection to alcohol - Trump Super Premium Line of Vodka. (Trump claims … (2 comments)

Enjoying other's brilliant minds - 06:15 PM
I really don't have much talent for writing nor do I have the time do dedicate myself to it. But I read a lot, whenever time permits me... and I have a hell of a time running all day just doing my job. At the end of the day or sometimes in the weekends (when my phone stop ringing) I navigate through the Internet looking for estate market news, advise or new strategies. Whenever something catches my eye or make me smile I feel that I should spread that bit of experience with other colleges real estate fellows. I enjoy reading … (0 comments)

number of residents in CA - 03:54 AM

Move? For the first time since 1994, the number of residents who left California (population 38 million) for another state in
2005 exceeded the number who moved here! One wouldn't know it by looking at all the new subdivisions, but according to
figures from the state Department of Finance California recorded a domestic net loss of about 29,000 people in 2004.
Where are they going? Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Washington and Oregon, mostly due to the high cost of housing. So if the
same house costs half as much, isn't that a way of pulling equity out and paying for that motor … (0 comments)

Home Speculation Pro’s Still Going Strong As Amatuers Run to the Exit - 06:46 AM

We have heard and talked about how the speculators and flippers have left the housing market. We have even surmised
that a big part of the problem in housing inventory issues are because builders saw a demand that was an illusion because
these speculators were so rampant.
But an article in the Charlotte Observer caught our eye and reminded us that speculators are still going strong. It just is
the professionals that have been doing this for a long time and are very good at it are the ones that can make money at
any level. And the reason, they

is foreclosre looming >>??? - 06:48 AM
According to Housing Tracker, Las Vegas Inventory has been steadily building for many months, and has now
surpassed the 20K mark-while prices have been declining slowly. I can attest to the fact the market is slowing
and Inventory is building, as there are 12 homes for sale on my street alone. Some of these homes have gone
through 3 separate realtors and are still sitting at reduced prices in a FSBO status.
With this said, I imagine foreclosures will become a significant issue in the future. Already, industry is reporting
that rates of foreclosure in LV have greater than doubled YoY:
"In … (0 comments)
