Why I love What I do - 03:11 PM
There is nothing better than at the closing table, congratulating a joyfully tearful buyer, knowing you helped them realize a dream!
There's nothing better than giving the best service, product and rate to a buyer who came to you, skeptical from a previous "Bad Experience."
There's nothing better than telling a client who thought they'd never make enough to buy a house, "Your Approved!"
There's nothing better than helping a family move from "just a house" to their "dream home!"
There's nothing better than being a part of one of the best investments you'll ever make!
... That's why I do what I do!
... That's why I love being a LOAN … (8 comments)

Front of the house or back of the house? - 11:03 AM
I just returned from Colorado Springs actually Monument, Colorado and the home of friend where I stayed was different than any development I had seen in several ways. First, the homes all had to be designed so that no garage was visible from the street. Thus almost all had an auto court entrance. The back of the home became the front door. The backs were then turned into the front of the home. Is there a name for this sort of development? On some homes, the facade to the street was very much a back view and on others the traditional facade … (3 comments)

Buyer's market! For how long though??? - 11:46 AM
Although the pricing is remaining a bit stagnant, the activity has picked up somewhat. Some analysts say that the market will be "normal" early 2008, but I am still bullish on Vegas. We still have ~7000 people moving to Vegas each month and are only selling ~1,700 homes. Even with another ~1,000 new homes being sold (which is a high number), that still leaves us with a lot of buyers cueing up!This is not planned to stop. Look at projects like what the Venetian is about to bring online (Palazzo), as well as the new "old stardust" (Echelon), and City Center. … (8 comments)

It's raining in Haiku today... ActiveRain that is. - 02:19 PM
I think it's appropriate that it's raining here in Haiku today, as I start this BLOG on ActiveRain.
Although there is a water shortage on other parts of this island, we are not in any way concerned about our own water usage, as we have our own supply of water.  We live off the grid and employ a system called "water catchment", which simply means we catch the rain which falls, and store it in tanks.  On our Huelo farm we actually have 3 tanks for holding water: a 12,000 gallon Scafco metal tank; an 8,000 gallon cement tank; and a 500 … (12 comments)

Are you getting hungry? Where to eat in Paia Maui Hawaii - 05:54 PM
PAIA RESTAURANTS
If you're on Maui and thinking about where to eat, I have a website that will help.  Paia town has many great restaurants, as well as stores where you can buy food to go.  Mana Foods, the health food store, has a great deli and salad bar, which I frequent often.  For a really good fish dinner, we always like to go to the Paia Fish Market and get the Seafood Caesar Salad, with mahi mahi.  Dining is informal and family style on long tables and benches, so you can meet other diners.  It's usually pretty busy in there, so … (2 comments)

New child in Activerain - 03:52 PM
Can you believe it, I'm actually doing my very first blog! I have always been a bit skeptical when it comes to opening one's self to the public on a website. Now that I'm in the process it's really kind of exciting!
I hope to meet a lot of you fellow business associates and hopefully each will mutually benefit from our relationships. This is a fun business and no matter how successful we become, we can always learn something new from others within our profession or associated with. I hope I am able to shed some enlightenment to you, and you to me.

Greylock Community in Matthews, NC - South Charlotte, Mecklenburg County - 04:22 PM
I visited a great new home community today called Greylock by Ryan Homes. What I liked best about this community is its GREAT location, right off the Matthews Exit of I-485 (E. John St.). This means you are close to all the shopping and convenience of downtown Matthews AND at the same time have easy access to other parts of the city via I-485. Ryan is starting to sell the second phase at this time with beautiful one and two story floorplans from the high $270s to the mid $330s. Exclusive features offered by Ryan in this community include: 42" oak kitchen … (2 comments)

My inaugural blog - 08:45 PM
I want to start my blog off with my OPINION on the local Harrisburg area real estate market. Notice how I emphasized the work OPINION. Sometimes, I think that we all forget that the news, while based on facts, might be slightly tainted by human opinion. Lets face it, without a lot of salt and pepper, plain old real estate news wouldn't be so exciting. Doom and gloom always sells better than fuzzy kitties and flowers. It's true that some markets around the country are facing some serious depreciation but only after they reaped the rewards of rediculous, double-digit appreciation. The only … (2 comments)

Adding Insult to Injury - 08:47 PM
I was attending a "foreclosures and short sales" class last week when something captured my attention.  With the high default rate around the country affecting lenders, they have been willing to accept less than the full amount in the form of short sales and at sheriff's auctions.  While at first this may seem like a relief to the stressed out and sleepless former homeowner, there is the matter of INCOME TAXES!  Yes, let us not forget that Uncle Sam will not forgive nor take anything less than what he feels is owed.  Let me stress at this point that I AM … (1 comments)

5 Myths About FHA Loans - 11:56 PM
FHA loans are a great tool that allows many potential first time homebuyers with past credit problems to break into the housing market. Prices are low and seller concessions are high in the today’s real estate buyer’s market. However, many of the subprime mortgage 100% financing deals are gone. FHA is the only way for many prospective buyers to get a mortgage. Also hundreds of thousands of homeowners who bought homes over the past few years using those subprime mortgages are now facing interest rate increases of 3 to 5 percent or more! Five minutes of watching business news lately will … (4 comments)
