Newport, NC "VIP"- Volunteers in Police Service - 11:19 AM

Ellis Jones is an inspiration to those who meet him. Armed with a digital camera, he is continuously snapping photos of local faces and posting them to his website which contains thousands of photos neatly journaled!
Take a look at his site, it is pretty incredible!
As a retired Post Master you would think an ideal day for him would to be sitting on a porch swing and sipping sweet tea . Not.
Mr. Jones is one of Newport North Carolinas Volunteers in Police Service that devotes time to business safety practices, community watch programs and enhancing public safety.   … (7 comments)

Structural Pest Control Board - Lack of Regulation Could be a Bucket of Worms! - 06:45 PM
I had always hoped that state licensing agencies were established to protect the public, and to offer direction in the event of a problem.  Today, I found out that the California Structural Pest Control Board is a toothless lion!
In a recent transaction, the sellers had their home inspected by a licensed termite company prior to putting it on the market, then had the work done, paid by check and received the certificate of completion.  Two weeks later, the property was ready to market, so it went on the MLS.  It was priced correctly, so it sold in about 10 days.  With the … (4 comments)

About Arrowhead Ranch, Glendale, Arizona - 11:48 PM

There are many communities in northwest Arizona, but it seems that none can surpass the quiet beauty and charm of the communities in the Arrowhead area.  Arrowhead's homes radiate inner warmth and its quality of life is unmeasured.  There are many golf course properties as well as lake and horse properties!  Of course, I may be somewhat partial having been a resident now for more than 15 years!
Area communities include Arrowhead Ranch, Hillcrest Ranch, Arrowhead Lakes, Sierra Verde, Sonoma, The Legend, and Highland Lakes, just to name a few!  There are many new homes being built in neighboring communities such as Stetson … (2 comments)

Automated Thank You Correspondence Notes - 05:11 AM
I thought I'd share this with anyone that finds it useful.  It came via regular mail to my "real" office.  I almost threw it out because I didn't recognize the address and I'm famous for opening my mail over the shredder.
Writing thank you notes and hand written notes comes easy for me.  I do it all the time.  I know others struggle with it.  This is a thank you note service.  Point and click on the web and a note gets dropped in the mail straight away.  Their website is: www.soc23.com  soc stands for "send out cards".  You are even … (22 comments)

Lead Generation Companies--Should They Disclose? - 12:51 AM
This could be a good FYI for newer agents -before you run into this situation-. At one time I listened to the pros and cons of buying referrals. On one hand it made sense IF it replaced other advertising and was more effective.
Lesson Learned: Ask more questions. A lead generation company emailed me that they had a seller who wanted to list in my area. Later down the road, I find that the innocent and vulnerable seller had filled out one of those web forms somewhere offering help in finding the right agent. The service of course is free to … (14 comments)

The "Difference" - 07:37 AM
Being a believer in GOD makes a huge difference when it comes to Real Estate. With the market place experiencing times of unsteadiness, there is an assurance one can have in the midst of these worldwide changes. A Believer has GOD'S SECRET.
A believer has the LORD to turn to, lean upon, and hope in. And because HE never fails, one will not have to grope in the darkness, wondering what they will do. One's faith in HIM gives confidence that HIS Word is true regarding what HE has promised! One of a multitude of affirmations, asserts, HE will NEVER leave … (27 comments)

A Response Can too Be a Good Post...Right?? - 01:38 PM

I was responding to anothers post about sellers not listening to reason, and realized that my reply made a good post. Yes, it was good for me. So, here is a reply/post that I think has merit. The actual post/reply was a tounge in cheek letter titled http://activerain.com/blogsview/221949/Dear-Mr-Mrs-Unrealistic
Great post, really made some impact, but made me think as well from-way on the other side of our world...The world in which having a lot of listings wins, and the world of seller perception is the actual Reality, according to the seller.
So like it or not, here is my Reply/Post
I was in … (6 comments)

Make me Move and other happy thoughts - 05:46 PM
Another day in Real Estate. Three agreements to list property and 3 new buyers to work with. Just another average day.....
Not hardly. This is a good day by my standards. Actually, a great day. Considering the amount of rain we got today with all the squally storms that rumbled thru our Lake County Area. What made today so special was these contracts were mainly from my online presence in my various websites and from one Referral right here on Active Rain.
How nice to finally have some good response from my websites. I spent about 10 hours over the last week updating … (11 comments)

What's Happening With Real Estate? - 04:27 PM
About a month ago I wrote an article relating to the real estate market.  The mortgage industry literally went crazy giving people mortgages that they could not afford.  Some home owners are stretched to the max.  Many homes in Illinois are in foreclosure.  I can never remember a time when there were so many homes for sale and when the market time was so lengthy.
Another thing contributing to the glut of homes on the market in Naperville is transferees renting and taking their time about purchasing a home.  Before, transfereed would take a week to buy a home and therefore time on the market was … (0 comments)
