Did you know that you are missing out on some SEO opportunities in your Active Rain Profile and Settings? Yesterday, I did a post regarding "How To Use Your "My Settings" Page" I received many comments and quite a few questions. The "My Settings" link in Active Rain clearly has some great value and benefits to you and your Blog. People and dogs are different in "oh so many ways" but there are still things we can learn from the so-called lesser creatures. I really started to think about this after listening to Steve Morris talk about the rationale for creating Exit Realty. Mr. Morris positioned that people inevitably need to be convinced first of their own self-interest before deciding to take an action that benefits the group. I often get people that ask me questions about Zillow through my profile. I try to answer each one, so keep them coming! They give me good fodder for blog posts! But it is also interesting to hear what is going through your minds with regards to Zillow. 
Gathering together with hundreds or thousands of other real estate professionals, donning a name badge, gulping down some morning coffee, and carrying around stacks of business cards becomes a way of life when you start attending real estate conventions. 
With the Southern California fires blazing all around me, I thought it might be a good time to talk about Private Insurance Consultants. Big insurance companies have a dirty little secret. They systematically deny claims over and over in order to reduce their payout. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the fair settlement.
During the past few months I wondered where my Active Rain participation would lead me. I knew that it has helped tremendously with placement in google. I have reaped the rewards of gaining so much more knowledge in the Real Estate Industry and being able to bond with some of my peers. For the past 3 years I have been sending out postcards every month to my farm area and previous clients. About 500 homes. At first I sent out informational post cards from a printing company. I've done Recipe Cards, Buyer and seller information, and a few other ideas. I send them out every month and then sometimes in between I did a newsletter, magnets or something along those lines. In the 80's my ex-husband and I were the first on the block to get Solar Heating. It wasn't something that we set out to do but owning a home was costly to us. With our limited income, we had to find ways to cut back.
Have you ever wondered why the one parking spot you seek is already filled when you get there? How you never manage to actually get THAT spot no matter how many times you travel to the same place? Well I used to wonder about that too, but then I saw a movie and believe it or not, parking is now never a problem.
The Nevada legislature has finally decided to become concerned about the rising rate of foreclosures. Its not surprising that State republicans are against doing anything. State Senator Warren Hardy, (R) Las Vegas, said, "What obligation does the legislature have to step in and protect them? It's just investors like Wall Street." Apparently Senator Hardy is severly out of touch. He thinks that it mostly investors losing their shirts with foreclosure. I wonder how many of his constituents are in foreclosure? Sweet Sarah did a blog post yesterday about hugging. In my comments I warned her not to let her kids try that in school because they could be sent home for sexual harassment. Unfortunately, in this world of political correctness, hugging can be a bad thing and there are too many stories in the newspapers of political correctness run amok. Countrywide Home Lending is taking a big step to help stem the flow of foreclosures on their sub-prime loans by injecting $16 Billion for borrowers who need to refinance. With late payments and property foreclosures on the rise, Countrywide it trying to help these home owners save their properties and keep them in their homes.
