Need One Last Cheap Helpful Gift? - 01:13 PM
Today I am going to tell you about one of the cheapest, greatest gifts my mother has ever received. It is a "Nordic Ware Microwave Spatter Cover, a clear cover that is used to cover food that is heated in the microwave. It is approximately 2 3/4 inches tall and 10 1/2 inches in diameter." It is excellent for keeping spaghetti from getting all over the microwave. You just wash it off with warm soapy water. I introduced it to a friend in Virginia and she stores hers in her microwave so that her family will remember to use it. The

Buying New Construction in Hemet, CA: Tip #1 - Consider Your Upgrades - 12:51 PM
In today's "Buyers Market" there are many great bargains available in both the resale market as well as the new construction. Make sure you weigh all of your options. In Hemet, CA we do have many great opportunities to buy a home for sale either from the builder, the bank (as in foreclosure homes) and directly from the homeowner - either as a short sale or a straight retail transaction (although the later are becoming less and less available as it becomes more difficult to compete with the builders and the banks). This series of articles is provided to help the first

We're number 1 - unfortunately - 10:07 PM
San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties are again at the top of the list for foreclosures. According to RealtyTrac's November statistics San Joaquin county leads the nation in foreclosures followed by Stanislaus and then Merced county. One out of every 99 houses in San Joaquin county had foreclosure filings last month. Stanislaus was 1 in 104 and Merced was 1 in 106. The bright spot is that this is 10% down from last month. California as a state had 39,992 foreclosures in November, which is a 21% drop from the previous month. Click on the picture for Stanislaus County information. Merced County

Linz Mural - 08:26 PM
I happened to drive behind the old Highland Park Theater early one morning back in June, and discovered this amazing piece of grafitti art I came to call the Linz Mural. I always intended to go and photo it in better light. Well, I went back today (12-23-2007) and discovered the art had been painted over. And although grafitti is returning to the site, I doubt if the haunting portrait of the young woman could be duplicated. It is unsettling to think I may have the only photographic record of this. A Simple Holiday Wish - 12:40 PM
The next few weeks are very busy for most of us and I wanted to take this moment to wish all my Clients, friends, family and fellow bloggers a Peaceful Holiday Season and a Prosperous and Healthy New Year. I would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to the Newbie Group Moderators for their unfailing humor and thoughtfulness. I am so grateful to be able to count on them to keep the group fairly clean and informative. This group has morphed into the size of Active Rain when I first joined! There was no way I would have been able to

Austin Neighborhood: Pemberton Heights - 10:41 PM
Pemberton Heights is one of the centrally located neighborhoods located in the central Austin real estate market. High upon the bluffs overlooking Pease park, sits one of Austin’s exclusive, and somewhat overlooked, neighborhood, Pemberton Heights. The Austin Development Company created Pemberton Heights in the late 1920s, and lured potential buyers by offering "fancy $3500-$4000 cottages" as well as "$150,000 mansions." Their brochure touted, "over five miles of paved and shaded streets and sidewalks." Today, Pemberton Heights is filled with sizable homes that are a wide variety of styles, from mid-sized brick bungalows to revivalist Tudor mansions. As opposed to many

Mailing Christmas Cards - 08:32 PM
So, i send out 1,000 over-sized postcards every month to my sphere of influence, past clients, prospective clients, etc... When it comes to Christmas time, I increase the number of mailings to include almost everyone in my database. This year I mailed 1241 Christmas cards, each hand-signed by me and I also took the effort to make sure each card said "Merry Christmas" either on the outside or hand written on the inside. I also include my miniature 2008 magnetic calendar which ends up on 80% of the refrigerators in my mailing list. y the way, most statistics are made up on

Scheduled walk-thru & Closing with Text Messaging! - 08:58 PM
Another successful transaction in the Boise Real Estate Market! My 21 year old buyer followed my lead when he received my text message asking him to call the lender. From that point forward, he was busy with work & continued to discuss the progress of the transaction through text messaging. I've recently got my lender involved with texting too & he followed up with what he needed. At the closing table, I thanked him for being so open to using texting as a communication media & he said, "It works great for me!". As professional Realtors, we must meet the needs of our clients

Idaho Schools - 09:21 PM
Many of my clients and customers ask me, when moving to Idaho from another area, about the schools. My web administrator has done a great job of allowing easy access to property listings within any particular school district in our area. You can view the school set up, listed alphabetically, which provides links to all the homes for sale in that school zone. Go here to see the line up of schools in the Boise Real estate market. The school listings are increasing my hits as well as rankings on Google and Yahoo! Always looking out for your next move on Idaho Real Estate, Don

ACT! 2008 - 09:28 PM
I recently bought a new laptop computer because my graphics card was failing on my old machine. Not knowing then what I know now, I purchased a 64-bit processor AND a 64-bit operating system with Windows Vista. When I tried loading the latest version of ACT! Database & contact manager software, it didn't work. After being on the phone to India several times, I found out that ACT! will not run on a 64-bit operating system. I considered changing software or just using Outlook or something, but I was so used to ACT! 2006 and I wanted to keep it simple.. So

Christmas Shopping is Done - 09:37 PM
Yes, I'm male & I waited to the (almost) last minute! Saturday was my day! I went to breakfast with my wife, got my hair cut & I hit costco, Target, Sportsman's Warehouse & Joes! alas! By 9:30 last night, I had them all wrapped, tagged and tucked under the tree! I'm even talking about in-laws and outlaws! What a stress reliever when it was all done! the giving part is so cool, I caught myself tearing up as I wrote personal messages in cards and thinking what a wonderful time of year & why we exchange gifts. The wise men brought gifts to the

Time-Share Resale Pitfalls Part 1 - 04:58 PM
Many of us have heard the spiel for purchasing a time-share. The "Sales People" show you around their Vacation Home Community only showing you the 3 units that are in the best of condition. Afterwards they take you through the Grand Clubhouse where they tout all the benefits of buying at their location. Later on you find yourself sitting with these trained closers as they promise you what seems like the deal of the century. Caught up in all the hype, you find yourself purchasing a week of time-share that seems to be the best opportunity that you have purchased in
