Christmas is for nostalgic flavors - like my Mother's Frosted Mincemeat Diamonds - 04:36 PM
Holiday Grettings to all AR folk!
Vanessa Stalet's Red Chile Posole recipe offered for New Years caught my eye, and that led me to the AR Cookbook Group. I'm not baking this year, but was inspired to share one of my favorite Christmas Cookie recipies...and replay the memories of baking them many times over the years. I'm not sure where the original recipe came from, but I do know my mother Margaret McCready added her own special touches. She is a talented 'from scratch' cook, and always added plenty of love ;^)  I hope you will enjoy them.

Playoff Fantasy Football - Any Interest? - 04:33 PM
Congratulations to Desiree Daniels (Soprano Slaughters') who won the regular season version of the Active Rain 2007 Fantasy Football game hosted by Yahoo.  For those who played and those who didn't get a chance to participate, there is playoff version hosted by the NFL.com's satellite web site, SuperBowl.com.  I have run a league for the past couple of years, and would be happy to host an Active Rain Members-only Playoff Fantasy Football game, where like the regular season version, you can win absolutely nothing.
The league rules are quite different from Yahoo's game, but as far as I know it's the … (0 comments)

How to take twilight shots - 09:38 PM
I have been asked to detail how to take twilight shots of listings.  Someone said they were glamour shots for real estate; probably very accurate.
What you need:  a camera with some manual control and a tripod.
Arrive about 30 minutes before sunset.Take some test shots to determine the right angles.Go inside for interior shots (turn on ALL the lights in the house and leave them on for the exterior shots)After sunset, turn on ALL exterior lights and set back up for the exterior shot you determined earlier.Flash – Off  (At this distance, it’s useless)ISO - Low (Low ISO’s will yield … (24 comments)

The FSBO Discount - 01:04 PM
STAR POWER® is a real estate agent education organization.  Agents can subscribe to their free scripts to deal with various sales situations.  Many of the scripts are corny, but occasionally I find one that offers sound advice, such as this one to advise a seller not to go FSBO:

Is Your Blog Reaching Your Goals? - 05:45 PM
I am about to wrap up my first year on Active Rain.
One of our goals as real estate professionals should be to gauge all our marketing platforms on an annual basis and decide if the effort and/or money expended is worth the results.
With many forms of advertising and marketing, it is fairly easy to measure success.  For example, with print advertising it's pretty easy to measure success by asking people how they found you and if they answer, "In the newspaper," you know it was cost effective.
With the Internet, although a great deal of marketing has no cost involved, there is A … (10 comments)

Techy Tool 6 - 08:36 PM
This might be a little off target as a techy tool but it is close enough. I discovered this great site to add borders, enhance, crop and add all types of features to your photos. It is free to download your pictures add borders for the season and save your new picture to your computer. This is also a great tool for non business photos so just have fun with it. I found this to be one of the easiest free sites to add effects to my photos. If you are having luck with another site, please post it below.

Psychiatrist files Bankruptcy because of Active Rain - News at 11 - 02:44 PM
IS ACTIVE RAIN THERAPY FOR YOU?????
I have a daily  routine that I follow.
In the morning I get up check my email and then read the "dashboard".
During the course of my day I'll check in and out.
And in the evening I grab my friend (my laptop), pull on my favorite blanket (Green Bay Packers of course) and catch up with all the daily AR activities in front of  the fire (How picturesque is that ::::eye roll:::)
I have to admit that I am a little behind with the year end here and the holidays I have slacked off a lot on my posts … (55 comments)

The Running Man Gets MeMe'd - Again - 07:12 AM
This worked out perfect... Marc Grossman tagged me for a MeMe just in time for my 200th post!
One - The first thing I will share just popped into my head as I looked back at my first MeMe. The title I had chosen for this post was exactly the same as I used back in May so I added "Again".  The moral if it isn't clearly evident is I am a man of unwavering consistency.  I have always been and will most likely continue to remain very solid and dependable in my thoughts and actions.
