There's a lot happening here at AR. ..especially at the ECO-All-Stars . . .
Given this, when I was asked to write AR's 2007 GREEN Year in Review and highlight just 12 posts, I had to shake my head and exclaim, "This is going to be one major-challenging assignment!"
THAT'S when I asked for your help.
Thanks to those who responded. I am about to post the Year in Review.....so THIS is your last chance to recommend an article...let me know ASAP!!!!

Finding just 12 posts when there are hundreds, if not thousands, of amazing offerings here at Active Rain is quite a … (0 comments)

Just Peeked Inside the Windows and We're Ready to Buy - 10:06 PM
I wanted to share an experience...it is curious to me how it will play out.  Recently, I received a call from a buyer who claimed they were ready to move forward to make an offer on a home that they have only seen by peering into the windows and walking around it.  Of course, I offered to show the home a couple times throughout our conversations and, I even advised that it would be in their best interest to at least walk through the home once before we write up the offer.  No, no - not necessary.  And, the buyer is … (7 comments)

Happy New Year To All Of ActiveRain - 08:34 PM
2007 certainly has been an interesting year here in the Rain.  We not only saw a huge increase in membership, but many changes to the Dash Board as well as how Posts are featured.  We saw new rules established, the creation of Localism, as well as a whole host of new features add.  We even saw several attempts to try to keep members from Gaming The System (Good Luck).
I am sure that this site will continue to evolve in 2008, and I don’t even want to take a guess at how many members there will be at this time next … (58 comments)

Danger Bay—Episode 47—the Plot Thickens… - 07:15 AM
By Jack Boardman
“Voyage of the Motor Vessel Sparrow” series inspired by Bob Carney. written by Boomer Jack Boardman
Previously—Episode 46—Salt Water Sparrow
“Millie,” George said looking apprehensive, “I’m not sure what we are doing is right.”
“Of course it is,” She replied testily, “and when we get back home, you’ll be a hero.”
“But…”
“No more discussion! It is what it is—there’s no turning back now!”
Episode 47:
“But Millie,” George persisted, “this will change everything about Danger Bay. Our village will never be the same.”
“It will be better, George,” Millie replied, “What good is being mayor of a … (3 comments)

Ten Things I Never Learned in School - '07 Addition - 08:26 PM
This is what I learned in 2007.
If someone asks you to jump out of a plane, do it.  My mother declined when asked and in retrospect has realized that it was a fraction as scary as the crap biscuit life has been jamming down her throat this year. Cancer sucks.  She just went to the emergency room fifteen minutes ago.  I hope one of Sarah Cooper's kids grows up and KICKS CANCER'S ASS!Don't ever tell one of my kids they "can't".  Worse, don't let their mother hear you say it.  You will look like the fool that you are when they … (27 comments)

We Appreciate AR -ActiveRain Year In Review - By Jennifer Fivelsdal - 03:06 PM
I thought about taking this post in several directions but in the end I decided to keep it simple.
The purpose of this post is to thank the leadership of ActiveRain.  As a real estate agent I know the importance of a testimonial so what better testimonial could be given to the leaders here than the comments from the members.
It is also my hope that these comments will inspire new members to take blogging seriously, realizing it is not just for fun but can  have a positive impact  on their business.
First, I want to introduce Poppy Dinsey. She is the only … (9 comments)

Activerain 2007 Year In Review- Best of the Week in Review By Neal Bloom - 06:46 PM
I was contacted by Jennifer Fivelsdal who wanted to get involved in this year in review project for the Activerain community. I though it was a good idea and was thinking of writing one myself but since she volunteered to take on this project I thought it would easier to let here go for it. "Better you than me:)" I am actually happy she will be handling this as I am just too tired from all the projects that I have covered here and I was suddenly a little busy towards the end of the year with Real Estate so it couldn't have come … (61 comments)

Mortgage PRO Week in Review -- 12/23/07 through 12/30/07 - 11:24 AM

Happy Holidays !!!!!! Hence why I decided to do the Mortgage Week in Review this week because I didn't want anyone to have to worry about this over the holidays. Besides, I was looking forward to reading some good mortgage blogs.
The theme of this post is the Real American Dream. Not pipe dreams with loan officers that give the consumer hope and later on, pull the rug out from under them. I am dealing with my second client in 3 weeks that was promised a loan from another lender and nothing happened.
Many of the blogs that I picked are … (37 comments)

Goal Guidelines for 2008 - 01:54 PM
I have been seeing a lot of Goal Blogs for 2008 and I commend those that have done them.
First, a Goal not written down is a mere wish.  I had heard or read that sometime ago and it hit home with with me and my wife and ever since then we have been writing them down and putting them someplace that we would see them every day.  I took this one step further and placed them inside my bathroom cabinet.  So, that every morning, when I dug out the hair gel and toothpaste.  I would see them and likewise in … (5 comments)

Goals: a lesson in how to: - 03:20 PM
I did some coaching a couple of years ago, back when I was not so coach-able.  I am going to be doing it again this year when I meet some financial goals that I have set-up for myself.
But here is one lesson that I learned and I hope to teach to you.  I will be doing these over the next few days.  So, please stay tuned, read them all and comment please.
So, lets get started...
Your goals should contain the following 6 guidelines.
I call it the S.M.A.R.T.Y Method.  It is still a work in progress and always being tuned up.

We actually are professionals, believe it or not! - 01:43 PM
Many times people have the perception that all realtors are money hungry, cram it down your throat, type sales people.  Yes, in any profession you can find people that are pushy, too aggressive, rude and sometimes deceitful, that's a given.  Also beware of any seminars where they're going to tell you  "What most realtors won't tell you."  There are no secrets - - the realtor wants to share information and education with you.
The large percentage of realtors are "business professionals."  Yes, realtors look forward to getting a paycheck now and then because they have to pay bills and live just just … (0 comments)

Happy New Year 2008 and Take A Look Where We Are Headed In The Housing Markets - 12:58 PM
It is now time to refocus my energies here to provide you with some insight and perspective as we begin anew to redefine the characteristics of the current housing market and where we are likely headed in 2008.
Looking back, 2007 has been a most unusual year. The housing market has seen a lot of correction and some real disappointments coupled with some mostly obscured indicators that the market is actually improving.
As we begin this year that will have the media being dominated by election year prognostication, there will also be many words printed about the housing market and the direction the … (19 comments)

The Comeback kid...A lightbulb went off! - 08:57 AM
OK OK after the absolutely insane week I have had I sat down yesterday and wrote what I thought was a great blog.  (Small applause in my head).  Naturally, at the moment I pressed the publish button, I lost my wireless connection and in doing so lost the blog.  I spent an hour and half on it!  So although what I am about to tell is NO secret and I am sure some of our top bloggers do it I came up with an idea that had me excited.  Yes, I said it, excited.
The simplicity of it baffles even me...how did … (13 comments)

A more permanent marketing idea for 2008 - 12:56 PM
<
There has been a lot of talk about how to get the most from your advertising budget this year. I have given it a lot of thought and decided to do something more permanent for 2008.
I wanted something that would really make people stand up and take notice. Home staging shows are all the rage last year and so were tattoo shows so I figured out a way to combine both of these hot new industries. I think I've finally found a way to make Rockland Home Staging stand out.

Happy Marketing in 2008.

You guys didn't know I … (36 comments)

Happy New Year! - 08:03 PM
Well, we're almost there...the New Year that is! (Yeah, yeah...my sign is backwards...NO I'm not drunk!)
I've made a lot of new friends this year here on the network and I've met with some of you face-to-face. With others I've shared some great phone conversations and it seems like we already know one another. I suppose it's easy when we share the same values and are working towards a common goal.
Anyway, I wanted to say THANK YOU for...
1. the wonderful friendship that you've given me,
2. the wonderful lessons that you've shared with me,
3. taking the time to listen as … (7 comments)
