Real estate activity in Boise, Idaho - 08:07 PM
As we enter the second month in this year, 2007, we find that we have more buyer activity in the Boise Metro area of Idaho. Last year we had buyers coming to view homes but they had homes to sell somewhere else before they could purchase here. They were coming from Florida, Massachusetts, West Virginia and Virginia, California and Arizona. Now we have buyers coming that have accepted offers on their present homes and are ready to buy. We wrote six offers in January and expect several to be written in the next week as well as more opportunities to list properties for

Want a NEW house in Chandler? HURRY, you only have until about 2012! - 12:03 AM
I had heard about this before; this being a reference to when Chandler would be built out. Well, apparently its going to happen around 2012. http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/0131biz-housing0131.html What exactly does this mean? Well, read the article. Reference is made to Tempe and how its central location (no new construction there) resulted in the highest appreciation in 06'. Think the same statements will apply to chandler in 5+ years? Only time will tell. In the meanwhile, if you'd like a NEW home in Chandler, you still have a few years :)

Seattle's Best Coffee and Branding - 12:00 AM
Okay, I love coffee. Specifically espresso. Preferablly first thing in the morning. I can and will make my own. Much better if someone else does it. You have to understand that until a year ago, I lived on an Indian reservation in Northern New Mexico and the closest Starbucks was a hundred miles away. You learn to cope. When the tribe built a new supermarket, they put in a coffee bar (NO it was not a Starbucks). When I moved to Albuquerque not only were there Starbucks everywhere but there were lots of other choices too. I moved to Rio Rancho and

Property Taxes in Texas - say NO TO DISCLOSURE OF SALES PRICES TO COUNTY APPRAISAL DISTRICTS!! - 11:25 PM
Texas does not have personal income tax but they do have property taxes. A large portion is school taxes and is the method of funding public education. Property taxes are based on the County Appraisal Boards determination of value. Up until last year the Texas Appraisal Boards set value based on current MLS data. NO effort just use the data from MLS and it is so easy to raise property values with this being done for them. "it got taken away from them" They are not allowed to use MLS data (should they find access somehow) and must somehow with the same amount of personnel and skills appraise

Allen's "Must Have Tech Tools" List - 05:00 PM
The following list of some tech tools I have found valuable originally appeared in my online newsletter last year. I use technology to help me save time, save money, make money and, in general, to make my life easier and more productive. I highly recommend each of the following if they fit into your technology plan. Plantronics Discovery 640 Bluetooth Headsetwww.Plantronics.com Using this with my Treo 650 is a joy. I would urge anyone who is still wired to their cell phone or who must hold it while talking to get this amazingly small unit. While on the phone, this

Chief Laughing Pun & Frog Loan Toofer - 01:42 PM
An Indian chief had three wives, each of whom was pregnant. The first gave birth to a boy. The chief was so elated he built her a teepee made of deer hide. A few days later, the second gave birth, also to a boy. The chief was very happy. He built her a teepee made of antelope hide. The third wife gave birth a few days later, but the chief kept the details a secret. He built this one a two story teepee, made out of a hippopotamus hide. The chief then challenged the tribe to guess what had occurred. Many

Winter Vacation! Why not? - 11:30 AM
Wortham Manor Near Lifton Winter vacation.... Business as Usual? Always! Tonight I'm leaving for a weekend vacation in the country. Devon England. A friend and a client that I sold an apartment to last year invited 15 friends for a suprise 40th birthday celebration at Wortham Manor. I'll be flying into Bristol and driving to Devon. Landmark Trust a charity organization in the UK restores historical landmarks and then rents them out. So this weekend I will be staying with friends in the medieval Wortham Manor. I was thinking I shouldn't be going away - clients will want me, it's such a busy

Groundhogs are local - 10:37 AM
OK tomorrow is Groundhogs Day... or is it Ground Hogs Day? I remember this spelling question from last year... I think my 2006 story says "Ground Hog" and I went with "Groundhog " in 2007. What's a blogger to do? Maybe the new Active Rain spell checker will help with that dilemma. Active Rain will accept both which leads me to believe it should be spelled groundhog. Lisa Dunn and Fred Pickard have both covered Groundhogs Day on Active Rain.... Fred's right there in PA with the best known groundhog and Lisa tied it into real estate. Is our spring season going

What You Get for the Money in Hurricane, WV: $100,000 (Plus a Challenge!) - 08:04 AM
If you have $100,000 to spend in Hurricane, WV -- what can you expect to find? This house is not currently for sale, but will be used here as an example of what approximately $100,000 will buy in this area. This home is just over 1300 square feet, has three bedrooms and one bath. It's on just over a quarter acre lot, which is fenced and flat. The home was built in the 1960's but has had a major renovation that gutted the inside, rearranged the floorplan and put in all new electric, plumbing, windows, roof, heating and cooling. The great room

All Property Owners Are Asked to Register for CodeREDTM - Emergency Notification System - 05:01 PM
Every few years, there is enough rainfall that the Rocky Broad River, the main tributary for Lake Lure, overflows its banks and fills the lake to a level to cause concern for boat owners. There is little or no potential for flooding residences, because water can only be as high as the top of the dam. The general sorts of damage involve boats that have their tops compressed when they press against the top of boathouse due to the rising water. In order to alert us to such incidents, the Town of Lake Lure has instituted theCodeREDTM Emergency Notification System -

Real Has Picked Up - 03:46 PM
I have been really busy these last two weeks and it is a nice change for me. Toby has just informed me that last month our website had its third highest day in traffic in the history of our website, 17,749. With the increase in business and the increase in web traffic 2007 looks to be a great year. I'll just keep my hopes high and nose to the grind stone.

Winter Escape from Ann Arbor, MI to Jackson Hole, WY - 07:23 AM
Well, we were just going over our pictures from our January Jackson Hole, Wyoming trip. We had a great winter break skiing and snowmobiling. Kevin and Lindsey are now expert skiers and took the 7 inches of powder in stride. We had fresh snow every day and lots of good food at night. The day trip to Yellowstone was a welcome break. We saw Old Faithful erupt, watched a bald eagle, bison, moose and elk. What a privilege to have such a grand park. We will return to Teton Village and plan to go back to the Mangy Moose for dinner
