Life in The Village of Ridgewood is a rare combination of cosmopolitan living and rich tradition. One of the larger settlements in the area, with a population of close to 25,000, Ridgewood offers something for everyone. Tree lined streets, lovely homes, a vibrant community, a quaint downtown area…. to name just a few. Ridgewood is home to The Valley Hospital, the very heart of the community serving more than 400,000 residents in the surrounding towns. Summer brings a 4th of July Celebration that starts with a Parade and ends with a spectacular fireworks display, the tradition is over 100 years old (4 comments)
I took a week off of blogging to rekindle my relationship with work (it pays the bills) and my wife (it keeps me off the couch.) It was nice not having the pressure of writing the blogs everyday to "keep up", but now I have a recharged battery and I'm back again (atleast, for a while :P) I've also been working on some behind-the-scenes stuff to improve my chances of survival in the madness of what we refer to as Real Estate and more specifically....Lending... I have a unique opportunity before me this afternoon. You see, The Real Estate Tomato is right around the (5 comments)
6 Paws - 12:56 PM
Yes, a blog that is off the Real Estate topic, for those that are pulling their hair out at this moment with a tough deal, bad phone call, bad hair day, lack of sleep, lack of coffee or ALL OF THE ABOVE! While I was in the midst of writing my blog, "Lunch with a Tomato Today?", my wife came in and said that I HAD TO SEE THIS! So, I get up, follow her outside and before me is a cute little cat.... With 6 PAWS! I had to take a few pictures of it for all to see. My new little friend (13 comments)
The Parachuting a Knights Tale - 10:26 AM
Once upon a time there was a Realtor who received a call from Mr. and Mrs. Prince Charming. The Charmings were calling about the Realtors listing and wished to see it. Being the well prepared agent who was committed and diligent in the work effort our hero/heroin asks the Charmings if they had just begun their process or had they been at it for a while. The Charmings freely responded that they had just begun to seriously look, had no relationship with any of the rival Realtors or members of others clans. A survivor of many of the Client/Customer Wars our (11 comments)
I was asked recently if I knew how the latest numbers stacked up with previous years, and if I knew "how big the bubble was" here in Ada County. After doing a little research I put together a very simple chart that shows the shape of our local real estate market over the last six years. I find it an interesting tidbit... The chart shows the monthly sales units for Ada county Single Family homes. I've left the exact numbers off the chart because I had to use someone else's work for the earlier years, and because my interest here was in coming (5 comments)
Foreclosure Foreclosure Foreclosure - 09:30 PM
Ok, so Colorado is number 1 in foreclosures. How sad. The American Dream turns into the American Nightmare! How could this happen I ask...I just moved to Colorado from Florida, and I got my real estate license here. Most of the talk I hear is foreclosures and bankowned...It pains me to think of people having to pack up and leave a home they probably loved and couldn't wait to close on. Again I ask...How did it happen? The answer I get...mortgage brokers, and builders were putting people in homes that shouldn't have been able to get in a home at all. (4 comments)
Miami Shores, FL - market conditions - 10:39 AM
It is still a buyer's market here in South Florida but the market is surely picking up. This can be evidenced by the amount of movement we are seeing with showings of our own listings and the amount of phone calls we are receiving with inquiries. It's a new year and buyers that were holding off and waiting for a "market collapse" cannot wait any longer and are beginning to buy. Certain price ranges are moving better than others, we grabbed all the sales in Miami Shores, Florida in the last 6 months and arranged them by price range to get an (9 comments)

School District 20's Answer to Too Many Snow Days - 07:56 PM
Academy School District 20, in northern Colorado Springs, Colorado has decided to combat all the snow days that we have been having by adding 20 minutes to the school day, starting 1/29/07, instead of adding school days to the end of the year. It has been met with some opposition, as now some elementary schools are not being let out until almost 4:30pm - very close to sundown. However, the district is "confident that the last child on the latest bus route will still be dropped off during daylight." Why did they not just add a few days to the end of (4 comments)

Down By The River. Brownfields. Heads-Up to Investors and their REALTORS. - 06:22 PM
My Field Coordinator and I braved the freezing rain todayto slide our way on down to the River District. We have clients coming into town this weekend, investors who need research done. So, we stood in the rain and took a look around at potential investment property in a brownfield right across the street from the River that winds its way all along the communities here. Maybe not all real estate professionals get goose bumps from their work, but we did today. No joke! Photo taken of the mighty French Broad River across from brownfield. When you think about all the life that goes on and has (9 comments)
Have you ever received a call from an irate seller upset over a showing of his property? The realtor walked through the home, with the home owner present, explaining to the potential buyer the reasons why the home down the street was a much better purchase than the seller's home! Then proceeds to question the seller about their reasons for moving, while using their cell phone to call the office to have them pull the seller's disclosures to see if the home owner had disclosed the garage door opener wasn't working? What do you say to the home owner? Sorry, I (47 comments)

Homeowner Tips for February - 07:32 AM
For you homeowners out there, here are more tips to help maintain your home. Doing a few simple things a month can save you time and effort down the road. Clean Clothes Dryer Vent - One of the leading causes of house fires is caused by the dryer. Over time, lint and debris builds up in the vent which can cause fire. Spend a few minutes, disconnect the hoses and clean them out. Check Fire Extinguishers - All homes should have a fire extinguisher in the kitchen area. Over time, extinguishers can lose their charge, so take a quick peek at (5 comments)

It’s a brisk +/-0ºF (feels like -10ºF) on the back porch this fine morning. Boomer, as usual has his attention deeply into the past, chronicling all those dead family members, Daisy & Medford are as usual beside me, whining about how cold it is—well Medford is.
