Blogs and Content Resyndication - 01:47 AM
Over the past 24 hours, I've been a part of a rather interesting email thread between about a dozen bloggers started by Greg Swann over at the BloodHoundBlog. It started because content from some blog RSS feeds were being republished on the InmanWiki. Many sites out there that aggregate and republish content from blog RSS feeds in one form or another, the InmanWiki was just one example (technorati, bloglines, squidoo, etc). Sometimes this resyndication cab viewed as a very valuable source of exposure, other times they can be seen as stealing content. This creates a huge grey area around the rules of content syndication. The arguement could even (15 comments)
A Thousand Words? - 07:25 AM
Where do you Get Your Images? A photo posted on your blog can make a huge difference. It conveys the idea of your post and really catches the eye of the reader. I've been using clip are for many of my posts. I copy the clip art and past it into "Paint." Then save it as a JPG file. I then upload that file into ActiveRain. This is definitely not the best way to get images for your blog. But it is one. My question to you is this. For the Other Rainer's of the world, where do you get your royalty free, legaly reprintable (26 comments)
Who To Write To? - 07:27 AM
ActiveRain is a wonderful place to accomplish two things. The first and most obvious today is that ActiveRain is the premiere place online where you can connect with other real estate professionals from around the country. The second is to connect with consumers. This has always been a part of ActiveRain, but until recently there hasn’t been a push toward it. With all the posting going on a lot of members are writing and asking me what is expected of their blog posts. I have to say that what is expected is that your conversations and posts do one of two (29 comments)
Question and Answer: Ask a Real Estate Professional - 11:04 AM
I was talking to Jim Cronin from The Real Estate Tomato ealier today and he mentioned that there are three things that increasingly are defining consumers on the Internet. They want access to as much information as possible. They want to maintain their privacy and anonymity. They don't want to make a committment until they are ready. If you try to take away their anonymity or make todays Internet consumer commit before getting information, you will end up hemmoraging potential clients. This is one of the reasons that blogging is fast becoming such an effective tool for "pull marketing" because it allows for an exchange (57 comments)
MORTGAGE RATES TAKE ANOTHER DIP - 08:35 AM
MORTGAGE RATES TAKE ANOTHER DIPby John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTOR®Real Estate, Hemet CAFreddie Mac reported that mortgage rates dropped again this week after another decline in housing starts. According to a statement issued by Frank Nothaft, Freddie Mac vice president and chief economist, January "showed the weakest reading since August 1997, due to the abundance of homes already on the market to purchase," The ‘average' 30 year fixed loan now averages just 6.22% down 7 basis points from the 6.3% posted just a week earlier, according to the Freddie Mac published survey. The 15 year fixed rate mortgage saw a very similar (0 comments)
How Foreclosure are Effecting the Market - 10:11 PM
How Foreclosure are Effecting the Marketby John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR Hemet CA Real Estate I have had the blessing recently of working with a couple of buyers looking for Hemet CA Real Estate. They both have two very similar characteristics - they want a lot of house for the money and they want to make certain they are getting the absolute best deal going. As I like to say, they are both willing to kiss a lot of frogs to find their prince of a deal. In researching property for sale in Hemet CA I have noticed that there are several homes for (2 comments)
Have you Met "Big Brother"? - 10:34 PM
Have you Met "Big Brother"? by John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTOR Real Estate - Hemet CA The one thing that is constant in 21st century America is that the computer is revolutionizing our lifestyle. Some of it is good...some of it is band...and some of it is just out right frightening! I was sent a link to a website operated by a company called ChoicePoint. They pride themselves in the data they gather. They are so confident, even their corporate tag line wants me to duck for cover, "Technology and Information for Confident, Smart Decisions". This information is gathered for the insurance industry, (2 comments)
What Should a Homeowner Do When They are Behind? - 11:02 PM
What Should a Homeowner Do When They are Behind? by John Occhi, Hemet CA REALTORHemet CA Real Estate In Hemet CA there are many real estate properties on the market that have been foreclosed on by the lender and are now considered REO, or "Real Estate Owned". Unfortunately there are many more on the verge of falling into this category. So, what can be done? Today as homeowners find themselves ‘buried' in a loan that they cannot pay the best advice I have is to talk directly with the lender. Be polite, it is not their fault and as my grandmother used to (13 comments)

Jupiter Fishing Charters - - 02:52 PM
When it comes to selecting the best option for fishing in Jupiter you will find a great selection of very capable and well equiped fishing charter services! When people ask me for recommedations, I usually start with describing what I see as the 3 main categories for fishing charters. The lease expensive is the large party boat option where you have a 90' boat (The Blue Heron) out of Jupiter Inlet provides all the gear and deck hands to assist. This is the least expensive option and if you are on a budget or just looking for a simple solution it is (2 comments)

Georgetown Sees "Good" Growth Coming - 09:07 AM
Georgetown is growing by leaps and bounds. In an attempt to guide that growth for the good of the city, the city has put certain parameters in place. And now we're seeing the results of that effort. A new subdivision is coming to town - Water Oak at San Gabriel, a conservation subdivision. Out of 1900 acres (4000 homes, 100 acres commercial/retail, 1500 multi-family homes), 650 acres are being reserved for conservation. It'll be interesting to watch this development grow and see how well the new rules work. They're intended to protect our environment as well as the overall ambiance of (1 comments)

Be A Resource For A Senior! - 08:01 PM
When I was growing up in Detroit, I remember checking in on two elderly women that lived in my neighborhood. Both were fragile in health and maintained that they wanted to live in their homes and not be a burden on their families. (While I didn't know this at the time, both were very lonely too.) I would stop by about every other week. At the time I thought it was a great way to hear stories, have some milk and cookies and even sometimes earn a little pocket change. Sometimes I'd run down to the corner and mail a letter. Other times (15 comments)

Embedding videos into a WordPress blogging platform - 06:33 PM
If you have a WordPress blogging platform and share my recent frustrations at trying to embed a YouTube video, there is a very quick and simple solution I found at Jack Humphrey.com The problem occurs because WordPress, like several blogging platforms, uses a WYSIWYG (whizzygig) or "What You See Is What You Get" editor for writing posts. Apparently the WordPress version of WYSIWYG doesn't like to embed things very well because all my attempts were coming out blank or scrambled. Here's the solution; there is a check box on your WordPress blog that turns off your WYSIWYG editor and lets you (11 comments)

Christianity and Real Estate...what is it all about anyway? - 02:58 AM
Ok..... now that the group "Christianity and Real Estate" is in total compliance related to Fair Housing Laws... I want to post the description of the group so everyone in the Active Rain membership knows what it is all about (and this is quoted from the groups site): "We are network of real estate professionals committed to exploring the application of Christian principles to our real estate business. We seek to live what we speak, in words, deeds, motives, and methods. We spotlight God over money or ourselves and our group is open to everyone. Please read the rules on posting and comments first."
