ONE SIMPLE QUESTION~~~REVISITED - 05:07 PM
In December 2006 I was introduced to Active Rain and Blogging and my life will never be the same.  Is that good or not so good will remain to be seen, but so far I have to say mostly good.  I have met some remarkably wonderful people on AR, so that's good. But I have to admit that there are times it is like writing and sending those little guys out into space to be swallowed up in a black hole.  You feel like waving your arms in the air and saying, "hay guys I'm here, no, right here."
When I started … (8 comments)

The 2007 Housing Market - NAR Comments - 07:39 AM
Unusual weather patterns and problems in the subprime lending marketplace are creating challenges in assessing housing market conditions, but a recovery is likely this year, according to the latest forecast by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®. David Lereah, NAR's chief economist, says there's some ambiguity about the current housing market. "Our goal each month is to fine-tune the forecast based on the latest housing data and a variety of economic indicators, but extraordinary weather variations are skewing home sales and clouding the picture," he says. "Underlying trends point to a housing recovery in 2007, but it will take a couple months … (0 comments)

A Sunny Day in Atlanta - 01:36 AM
Today was a beautiful sunny day in Atlanta and I spent the day at Atlantic Station a live, work and play community.   The flowers are in full bloom on this beautiful spring day and people were out and about.   At Atlantic Station you can shop, eat, go to a movie or just people watch.
Below are the pictures, I hope you enjoy them.

Prediction - 06:05 AM
I predict 35,000.  Mainly because we are about to enter the "busiest" time of the year for all of us. So we spend more time "in" the business than"on"the business.
Also because I have invited lots of people and only a hand full have accepted and they don't really post.

Localism - 06:53 AM
I have written 6 articles about Saline, MI but they don't show up on Localism. It says no articles. Am I doing something wrong ? I add saline, mi in tag line and localism. I just posted another one this morning to see if it would show up but it isn't ?  http://activerain.com/blogs/missycaulk
Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong ? I am trying to take Tony Marriots advice in his post on google search results.

Denny's or Outback ?? What are YOU ?? - 02:58 PM

This post is inspired by Chris Tesch's post about I know it's Easter Weekend but  ....  It's been interesting to read all the many thoughts on it. The more I read the more I kept thinking about the uniqueness of how we  run our business. Case in point:
1) Some agents and I believe it was said in a comments of Chris's blog, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So that's like Denny's. Call that realtor up day or night and they will be at your beck and call. Serve up some of those "hash brown potatoes maam".
2) Other agents … (30 comments)

Posting With Intention Part 2: It's My Blog and I'll Cry If I Want To! - 03:42 PM
Made you look, didn't I?
Writing well means that the writer attempts to hook the reader and sustain that interest with something of value or entertainment, sometimes both. Readers want to be engaged by the material and a good writer knows how to craft phrases and stories to create that effect. It can be light and fluffy or serious, but there needs to be a little spark that resonates with the audience. Make no mistake; a successful blog is a well-written blog-and good writing comes with: practice.
No one is born knowing instinctively how to ride a bike, roller-skate or even string a … (12 comments)

Arrowwood's New Golf Course - 03:08 PM
A new golf club and luxury family townhomes have been added to Arrowwood's (located on the shores of Lake Darling in Alexandria) portfolio of accommodations. Atikwa (the former name of Lake Alvin) is a newly renovated golf course that was designed with wetland preservation in mind and focuses on scenic lake views and unique golf challenges. Voted "Best 2004 Lakeshore Resort" by MN Meetings & Events Magazine, Arrowwood offers a higher ratio of meeting space to guest rooms than any other Minnesota resort.

Information about Glenwood's Pelican Lake - 03:13 PM
Pelican Lake is a 519-acre lake located in central Pope County near Glenwood and Long Beach. The Lake is within the Chippewa River watershed with water entering Pelican Lake from Trapper's Run creek. Pelican Lake is connected to Lake Minnewaska via a heavily vegetated channel, which passes under State Highway 29. Most of the shoreline remains fairly undeveloped and is comprised of woodlands and marsh areas. A public access is located on the northeast corner of the lake.Pelican Lake is primarily managed for sunfish and largemouth bass, but walleyes are stocked to maintain a "bonus" fishery. Northern pike are also abundant, … (0 comments)

Affordable housing in Vegas. - 02:17 PM
Although home price increases nowadays are leveling off, the unbelievable surge in the recent past has left many homeowner candidates out of the picture. Valley incomes have a way to go before catching up to that real estate escalation. With the median household income less than $50,000 and employing the NAR Housing Affordability Index, southern Nevadafares rather poorly using this criteria, according to Keith Schwer from UNLV's Center for Business and Economic Research.
It appears that resale houses are offered at a lower cost when compared with new homes, but upon looking at the price difference closer, builder incentives, which often are attractive … (0 comments)

Yikes...I've Been Meme'd! - 07:05 PM

Today, Theresa Cavanaugh tagged me for a Meme article.  I went to the Active Rain archives to research  just what a Meme was and discovered that there is a lot of history on Active Rain with this "social game."  So armed with some "historical" perspective, I submit my Meme...such as it is.
First of all, the picture at the right is my very first real estate picture some 12 years ago.  Ah, yes...those were the days of the Century 21 Gold Jacket, dramatic jewelry & the glamour shot!  Believe it or not, I used that picture for 10 Years!  That is until someone said to me..."Lola, … (19 comments)

Here You Go Neal - 09:56 AM
Here is the link to my Speed Experience Photo page, I still have to add 1 more day to it. I followed Mickey Jones around with a camera for 4 days, I really was his security too. Not sure why LOL he loves his fans. I missed when he actually jammed with one of our bands, I was still at work that day. (I went over after work 2 nights and spent all day Friday there, 12 hours). Keep on eye on the photo pages, I'll be adding photos I've taken over the last two years of Blackfoot.. remember them?

Japanese Billionaire Mansion Offered - For Free? - 08:21 AM
I walked into this story, so I will readily admit I don't know the real details and would like someone to expand on it.
Here's what I found:
Initially it was reported that a Japanese Billionaire was going to rent out his mansions in Hawaii to low income families for $150 a month.   I think most of these reports came out on the 21st.  CNN version here.
Then today I absently hear on Fox News that he will allow the first family to move in for FREE?  Billionaire Gives First Hawaii Home Free.
Now, frankly my cynical side just kicked in.  First the guy … (8 comments)

Home Builder Controversy - 04:43 PM
This week I spent some time in training with one of my new home sales consultants.  Now frankly I don't spend much time training, I really should, and this was a great reminder that I need to re-focus on this important part of my talent development.  Note to self: Spend more time training belly to belly!
This new salesperson, he's been with me since Thanksgiving, asked a poignant question though:
WHY DO WE PAY A REALTOR 3% EVEN WHEN WE KNOW THEY DIDN'T SEND THE BUYER TO US?
I immediately started down the path of "we want to reach out to all agents" and … (19 comments)

Missing - Active Rain Builders - 05:00 PM
I've sure been blessed to enjoy the fruits of wisdom and debate here on the AR community.  But, I'm a bit frustrated at the very small turnout of other home builders.  I would have to guess that there are perhaps 20,000 new home salespeople in just the United States.  That's a lot of people who should really want to connect to you the AR community.
If you know a new home sales consultant or builder salesperson, get them connected please.
If you know one of these home builders below (the top 25 on AR) please push them to involve and join the … (9 comments)
