Don't Forget Your Smoke Detector Batteries! - 01:18 PM
It's time to Spring Forward!
Yep, we get to lose a hour of sleep this weekend! Don't forget to change that old clock sitting in the corner over there by the family portrait, you know the one you forgot about when we fell back? While you're running around trying to remember how to change some of those more confusing DVD players, your microwaves, coffee makers, stoves, alarm clocks and anything else I may have left out, don't forget to change the batteries in your Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. This is very important, it takes all of 10 seconds to … (10 comments)

Now I know why I am tired - 12:31 PM
For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep, not enough
sunshine, too much pressure from my job, earwax buildup, poor blood or
anything else I could think of.
But now I found out the real reason:
I'm tired because I'm overworked.
Here's why:. .
The population of this country is 273 million.
140 million are retired
That leaves 133 million to do the work.
There are 85 million in school.
Which leaves 48 million to do the work.
Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government.
Leaving 19 million to do the work.
2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama
Bin-Laden.
Which leaves 16.2 … (2 comments)

HTML Code for box to share html code - 09:18 AM
How to share your code with friends the easy way!
*Smile*
I know there are many times when you post something on your page and someone wants to know "How did you do that?" So in the past I have said to paste my text into their window and click on html to view it so they can see the code I used.
There's an easier way and I recently found the code to be able to do this much easier. I thought I would share it with you since some may know, but not everyone does. Ok, Instead of just … (8 comments)

Spring officially begins! Let's change those clocks! - 09:48 AM
Oh Yea, Oh yea! Spring officially begins march 11th, don't forget to change those clocks Sunday though, one hour ahead. Digital clocks normally change themselves and so does your computer if you have it set to observe daylight savings hours.
Change is in the air, the cold icy winds of winter are fading, (Not in Florida *Chuckle*) the wild flowers are beginning to bloom, the crazies are coming out of their shells...oh sorry, I was carried away in the moment! LOL..
OK, so now the big question....
Do you still own a VCR? If you're still using a VCR and not a DVD player, do you … (3 comments)

Huntington Beach - Part I - 06:07 PM
Huntington Beach, formerly known as Pacific City, and known as Surf City USA is a great place to live, work, and play.  It has something for everyone.  If you can't find it here or nearby, it  does not exist.

First the weather is exceptional.  No snow, hardly any rain, no lightening, and usually sunny skies all year.  Temperatures are very moderate ranging from the high fourties to the low eighties throughout the year, tempered by the ocean currents and breezes.  Humidity is low.  Most homeowners do not have air conditioning, even in the mult-million dollor homes.  You can not find … (0 comments)

The Bear Is Just Running Too FAST! - 02:23 PM

Take the time to watch this stream (10 minutes), there's no way I can explain it. This is from the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference last year. It's a demonstration of new computer-interface technology that will be coming your way soon. Remember, this video is ONE YEAR OLD!  (the new screens must be far superior)
I relate the competitiveness of technlogy to the story of a bear chasing a group of hikers.  You do not need to be faster than the bear, you need only be faster than your fellow hikers.  But I am starting to think that … (0 comments)

Day 5 - Contract Negotiations and a New Listing - 03:32 PM
Day 5 - Thursday March 8, 2007
9:00am
Went to the office early to pick up the contract from last night.  Sure enough it was lower than I expected or hoped.  The agent submitting the contract included comparable sales from similar units however she did not include the last sale because it has not gone to settlement.  Fortunately, I knew one of the agents in that transaction so I made a quick call.  I didn't ask for the sales price but I did ask if it was sold for over a certain amount.  If it did than it will be … (3 comments)

To Fool Mother Nature is to Fool Ourselves - 01:24 PM
Last week, I heard that scientists were going to "examine" the Northern Lights in Canada.  The Northern Lights apparently cause disruption for cell phone users, telecommunications, distort cable television and do a lot of other nasty things to the consumer.  Can you imagine one of the symbols of the aboriginal peoples of Canada for eons is hurting big business?  I thought another nail in the coffin for Mother Nature.  Of course they might just want to harness the energy to power our lights, or perhaps turn it on for tourists and turn it off when it becomes bothersome.  I thought why … (6 comments)

A Book For Assistants - 12:02 PM
Good Morning All!  I hope everyone has had a great week!  I am curious to see if anyone has read a book called KickAss Assistant.  It's the title of the book, I apologize.  I found it on REALTOR.org or whatever and was curious if anyone has read it and it was useful.  I plan to read it shortly, but wondered if I should bother.  I figured if it was on the NAR website, it should be ok for us RE Assistants.  Let me know what you've heard about it, and also if you decide to read it, let us know what … (0 comments)

Internet Marketing - 03:09 PM
What is internet Marketing?
We hear these terms thrown around all of the time, but what do they actually all mean. Internet Marketing is the full blown marketing of a web site. This will normally consist of Search Engine Marketing, which can then be broken down into Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. Internet Marketing also consists of another element which is the web site conversion rates.

Search Engine Optimization.
This is the optimization of a web site to enable the placement of the web site within the search engines results pages, sometimes know as SERPs. … (3 comments)

Got up my nerve - 07:09 PM
Okay, okay, okay, I just read one of the blogs encouraging me, yes specifically me, I know she was talking to ME, to jump right in. plunk.
I was just thinking about how truly beautiful it is this afternoon, sun is shining, new grass, flowers, and  probably a few weeds, are starting to sprout.  Temperature is almost 60 degrees, which after our many weeks of gloomy, sub-30 degree days, is refreshing, not to mention exhiliarating, being able to spend a few minutes outside without your nostrils sticking together from the cold, making oxygen in-take extremely difficult.  Ah, fresh spring air, there is … (1 comments)

Positive Mental Attitude - 10:39 AM
What is attitude? Attitude is what you think, believe, feel, expect, act, in relation to yourself, life, people, and your goals. Attitude can be positive or it can be negative; it can be limiting or it can be expanding; if you have a positive attitude, you feel alive, well, loved, happy, liked, confident,..you feel good; if you have a negative attitude, you feel angry, resentful, fearful, depressed, anxious, hopeless,... you feel bad. Your feelings are your thermometer to your attitude and your life is the mirror to your attitude.
*Some Tips for a PMA:
1. Smile
2. Laugh
3. Greet people courteously

What do you do with your Denials? - 08:28 AM
Just a quick blog before I go.  I'm heading into Scranton, PA for the St Patrick's Day Parade.  It's a great opportunity to meet people over drinks and act like a college kid again.
So, what do you do with your denied clients?
Nowadays there are plenty of options:
Keep them in your database and start sending them marketing material (newsletter)Work with them to increase their credit scores and get back in shapeRefer them to a lender that specializes in these files and compensates for the leadNothing.  Drop it.Let's see...
Keep them in the database:  I think this is a good idea.  If you … (18 comments)

Travel Time? - 05:40 PM
Some fellow stagers & I were talking about how we bill & what we bill for.  Its not a secret that everybody bills differently and I know there is not one specific "right" way, and nobody is going to convince anyone that there is one.  One of the topics was travel time.  Do you bill for it in your staging fee?  Or, do you have a specific area you go to without charging travel time, and then add on if you go outside of that area?  Or, do you just take the mileage deduction on your income taxes?  Or do you just have your company fill up … (13 comments)

American Idol is not a waste of time? - 04:15 PM
So, here I am, the CEO of a growing company with 5 employees/contractors who are depending partly on my performance to put food on the table and I am sitting home watching American Idol? Yup. Fortunately, I do watch it after recording it on my DVR which trims a 65 minute show to about 30 minutes. The first time I realized that there was more commercial time than program time, my brain started turning (usually I shut off my brain for a couple of hours a night to let it reboot). These guys are putting 30+ minutes of advertising into a … (23 comments)
