The Woodlands Home & Garden Show - Mar 31st & April 1st 2007. - 01:17 AM
The Woodlands Home & Garden Show. Wow! It's quite a show. I took my son, Samuel - he's 8 years old, along. We had so much fun... he collected every business card he could find... not sure what he's going to do with them! He also collected every little freebie available - there were some really neat giveaways. Billy Weldon, from Texan Termite & Pest Control, kindly gave us one of his large plastic carry bags to put all the loot in. Thanks Billy! Pretty good idea... now we were advertising for Billy while we're walking around with Samuel collecting pens,

What does an Appraiser do exactly? - 07:11 PM
What Exactly Is An Appraisal? An appraisal is an unbiased estimate of what a buyer might expect to pay - or a seller receives - for a parcel of real estate, where both buyer and seller are informed parties. To be an informed party, most people turn to a licensed, certified, professional appraiser to provide them with the most accurate estimate of the true value of their property. The Inspection So what goes into a real estate appraisal? It all starts with the inspection. An appraiser's duty is to inspect the property being appraised to ascertain the true status of that property. He or

Appraisal Myths - 07:13 PM
Myth Buster Some Myths and Realities about Real Estate Appraisals and Appraisers: Myth: Because consumers pay for appraisals when applying for loans to purchase or refinance real estate, they own their appraisal. Reality: The appraisal is, in fact, legally owned by the lender - unless the lender "releases its interest" in the document. However, consumers must be given a copy of the appraisal report, upon written request, under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Myth: The appraised value of a property will vary, depending upon whether the appraisal is conducted for the buyer or the seller. Reality: The appraiser has no vested interest in the outcome of

Real Estate in Valparaiso,Crown Point,Munster,Portage and all of Northwest Indiana - 02:13 AM
Northwest Indiana homes are still selling, despite the newly implemented halt on sub-prime lending. Our office has been growing at a rapid pace. Home Advantage Real Estate has been in business for just under 1 year and we will be bringing on our 9th Realtor this month. We probably would have grown even faster, if it weren't for our high standards when considering new agents. The Northwest Indiana market is good! We've been working with a lot of investors lately, who are from other areas where Real Estate sales have slowed considerably. One such market is Michigan(Detroit Suburbs). Chicago buyers have been

God's Plan - 07:31 PM
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 NIV God has a plan for your life. He brought you into this world to fulfill that plan. It is the best plan that anyone could ever make for you. It is a plan that will bring Him the greatest glory and you the greatest good. From the beginning of this calendar year until its end, God is working out His plan. As you follow God's plan for

The Lord God Omnipotent Reigns! - 07:40 PM
Although it doesn't always seem so, it is so. He is the same Lord who made the waves be still when the disciples came to Him in fear they would perish, and yet He now sits at the Father's right hand until all His foes submit. When the world is looking down and the fearful are looking around, let us as believers continue to look up, forever lifting our eyes to the hills from whence cometh our help - our help cometh from the Lord, the Lord which made heaven and earth.. He will not suffer our feet to be moved, He is the Lord

Advantages to home sellers in getting a Pre-Listing HOME INSPECTION - 07:40 PM
Eventually your buyers are going to conduct an inspection. You may as well know what they are going to find by getting there first. The author points out that having an inspection performed ahead of time helps in many other ways: It allows you to see your home through the eyes of a critical third-party. It helps you to price your home realistically. It permits you to make repairs ahead of time so that ... a. Defects won't become negotiating stumbling blocks later. b. There is no delay in obtaining the Use and Occupancy permit. c. You have

Why Home Buyers should get a HOME INSPECTION - 07:42 PM
Buying a home? The process can be stressful. A home inspection is supposed to give you peace of mind, but often has the opposite effect. You will be asked to absorb a lot of information in a short time. This often includes a written report, checklist, photographs, environmental reports and what the inspector himself says during the inspection. All this combined with the seller's disclosure and what you notice yourself makes the experience even more overwhelming. What should you do? Relax. Most of your inspection will be maintenance recommendations, life expectancies and minor imperfections. These are nice to know about. However,

Do you really need a Home Inspection? - 07:45 PM
Do you really need a House Inspection? Without a doubt, buying or selling a home is the largest transaction that you will ever enter into. With this in mind, you want to get the best value for your hard earned money that you can possibly get. A professional Home Inspection won't be able to tell you if the house you are interested in is a good deal or not. A Home Inspection will not condemn the house that you are selling. Home Inspectors are not "deal killers" or doomsayers. Rather, an experienced Home Inspector will provide the information that you will

Facts that everyone should know about wood destroying insects, especially termites...
