Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Conservatory - an Ann Arbor Jewel - 09:19 PM
The Matthaei Botanical Gardens is an Ann Arbor jewel that many people may not be aware of. The Gardens are located off of Dixburo between Plymouth and Geddes. The Conservatory was opened in 1964. It is a commission by Alden B. Dow, the only Architect Laureate designated by the State of Michigan. This building is an exceptionally rare structure. It is believed to be the largest free-span (no supporting columns) Conservatory of its structural style and represents a technological limit of architectural materials and climatic controls in a pre-computer era.
Here are few events coming up. See the Website for more information
HATE - 05:48 PM
Such an ugly word isn't it?
Maybe I've been sheltered but I've never really felt that word before nor have I used it. HATE is such a strong lonely word...thinking about it makes me incredibly sad.
Today for the first time in my life I "felt" hate. Hard, Cold, Ugly, Hate and it made me more than sad, it made me mad and it brought me to tears.
My small town buried a war hero today, a fallen child, a human being, who fought and died in Iraq. He was newly married and a real nice guy by all accounts. He gave his
Let's Make a Deal - Crafting an Offer in A Buyer's Market, Part 2 - 06:06 PM
This is a continuation of my first post, Let's Make a Deal - Crafting an Offer in A Buyer's Market, Part 1
Like any good detective, either you or your buyer's agent have gathered intelligence about the seller, the home you wish to buy and the marketplace. The information you've obtained will not only help you in developing a price to pay but it will also help you determine a strategy.
What goes into an offer? Price, deposit amounts, contingencies (mortgage, inspection, attorney approval, etc.), inclusions (appliances, pool equipment, etc) and closing date.
Price. Before you submit your offer, determine the maximum amount you

Iowa Goes Hog Wild Over Exotic Pets!!! - 06:21 AM
The Iowa House voted Tuesday to banning exotic animals as pets. Lions, tigers, and bears......oh my! Can you imagine that one Iowan actually has a pet alligator? Yes, this is Iowa.....not Florida. One Sioux City home actually had 30 exotic animals, including this alligator!
The Animal Rescue League has been pushing this through claiming in the past three years there have been 14 cases where wild and exotic animals (including monkeys, cougars, and yes.....lions, and tigers, and bears....oh my!) have been kept.
Personally, I've seen some pit bulls that were more dangerous than these because they're allowed to run free!
So for now, we

I could hardly speak because
Who's Watching Your Bacon - 01:50 PM
So you want to buy a home? Well, I've been in real estate for most of my adult life, and there is very little I haven't seen or heard. There are a number of questions that should be popping into your mind about now. Like, what is the first step in acquiring a home? Or, who should I see for the financing of my new residence? How do I know the home I'm getting is worth what I'm paying? How do I know after the purchase something catastrophic won't happen to the inner working of my newly-purchased palace?
What is the

My Undefinable Blog - I Don't Live in a Bubble or Blog in a Bubble - 10:16 AM
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". John Lennon quotes (English Singer, Songwriter and Political Activist.)
My day is planned and organized in writing, yet it transitions into something different as my life is penciled in to other people's plans.
The term blog from Wikipedia:
blog (short for web log) is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style...
This is what I base my blog on, day to day happenings or reminiscent thoughts of days gone by.
I have yet to share unrelated stories like literally running into Barbara Bush the night before my Principle and Practices Final. Oh, then there was the time I sold
Buy Proven Million Dollar Schemes "Cheap" - 04:03 PM
Want to "buy" into a novel idea?
Best deals for "self-help" and "get rich" books and other material is not at Amazon.com. Nope! Go to Salvation Army and Goodwill. (The link is to shopping Goodwill on-line)
Check out your area second hand store. Why pay hundreds of dollars at 2am in the morning to infomercial megalamanics ? The only one getting rich is them!
But, then there is that age old burning question as you stand there in the second hand store, "why would someone get rid of such priceless books on making everyone millions?" Hmmmm.....
I am no different from anyone else. I am interested in improving myself and

Short Sale Info for Realtors - 02:52 PM
WHEN YOU TAKE A LISTING WITH LITTLE OR NO EQUITY YOU MAY WANT TO ASK THESE QUESTIONS:
1. IS A "SHORT SALE" IN THE BEST INTEREST OF YOUR CLENT?
Since short sale transactions will typically have some form of tax consequences, it is important that you do not give financial or legal advice to your client. It is best to refer them to their own tax attorney or certified public accountant.
2. DOES YOUR CLIENT QUALIFY FOR A SHORT SALE?
Not all sellers will qualify for a short sale. The lien holder may require the seller to provide them proof of hardship, prior to a
Showing & Open House etiquette - 09:46 AM
Buyers forget that people live in the homes they are viewing. Agents sometimes forget to protect their clients property from damage during open houses too.
Brokers are all to aware of the of calls from unhappy sellers. Agents, for the most part, are very aware that the seller's property must be protected. Buyer's agents and buyers sometimes are less careful.
Think of things this way and see how you would feel.
You just spent several hours getting your home ready for an open house. You greet your agent and wish him/her good luck and drive off for a few hours. You arrive home

Upscale Homes, Market Trends - 02:33 PM
Selling and buying upscale homes is not the same as the median home market. This market has fewer buyers and they are more discriminating in taste and amenities. The marketing and exposure of upscale properties has to match the buyers you are trying to attract. Since financing may involve a "jumbo" loan instead of a traditional loan with the finance portion of the mortgage above $332,000.00 as the limit on a traditional loan. (this number seems to float a bit but in that dollar range) It is nice to already have a lender prepared to offer the mortgage based on the
Growing areas, will they continue? Byron Center - 03:16 PM
Byron Center has seen continued growth over the last several years. This year will be no exception. The planing department has authorized a new development with constuction estimated to be between 100 to 150 new homes being built in one development alone. This is a PUD (planned unit development) which, if you have not taken noticed, a new water tower has been built at the corner of 92nd and Eastern. This water tower is the supply the new home construction needs.
The planned section for the new home construction will also be getting city water and sewer. So new home construction is not dead, as everyone
Forest Hills Real Estate Market, homes are still selling! - 04:20 PM
Forest Hills has many great areas to live. The first quarter the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors (GRAR) had 10302 homes listed for sale with an average of 103 days on the market before they sold.
204 homes sold in Forest Hills. The average sell price has slipped from last year at this time. This means with the onset of the spring listings anticipate your will have to market your home more aggressively to attract the buyers that everyone else is trying to attract in your price range. Plainfield Township has also seen a drop in values.
Marketing is going to be the key
