WAYS TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY - 05:14 PM
As a real estate agent, I must say that I have been truly blessed in this business.  After hearing stories from other agents that if I make $30,000 a year, I am doing great.  But, I had my eyes on larger amounts and I was determined to make six figures.  Within a year and a half in this business, I attained that goal  and started saving/investing my money.

Two Sisters Tea Cafe & Gifts, Henderson Nevada - 01:03 PM
This is the first business I'd like to feature.  It is an absolute charming teahouse in the valley.  I am hooked on tea now, and me being from the Netherlands, this is as close to home as it can get!  I was never able to find those quaint type little stores/cafes before, until now.

What Vets Do Not Tell You - 03:32 PM
My pets have always had their recommended shots, been spayed and neutered imagine my surprise when Max, my Black Lab was exposed to Parvovirus and actually contracted this horrible virus.
Max has had all of his shots according to some vets. However, after finding out that Max is sick and in the hospital for the second time in the short time he has been alive I wanted to know how and why. Most vets recommend that puppies be vaccinated for Parvo every 4 to 6 weeks until they are about 20 weeks, then to be on the safe side they should be … (13 comments)

I have always been a mother well not always for over 30 years. I have raised siblings, my own children and foster children, I know what unconditional love is. During all these years we have had pets, dogs, cats, birds, reptiles you name it we most likely have had it in our home.
I was always the mom that made sure her kids understood the responsibility of a pet. Not just feeding, walking and cleaning up after but the bigger responsibilities such as shots, spay and neuter and health care for your animal.

Ideas when Staging Occupied Homes - 05:35 PM
I am always looking for crafty ways to stage a home that is occupied when I can only use what they have.  I would love to get ideas from others on what they do to their existing things.  I bring seashells and potporri to fill glass bowls, ribbon for tying towels, extra fabric for cutting up and making cloth napkins and covering ugly tables. Big Island of Hawaii - Year by Year Residential Solds - 06:41 PM
Our year by year Residential Solds for the Big Island of Hawaii peaked in June 2004 and and again in June 2005.  Since June 2005, the number of solds decreased with the last peak occuring in March of 2006.  The demand from out of state buyers has slackened.  We ended 2006 with more inventory and  less demand.  In my opinion, it is a great time for buyers who wish to move to Hawaii and enjoy its unique culture and weather.

Big Island of Hawaii - South Hilo District Residential Solds - 07:37 PM
According to our MLS we had 338 Residential Solds for the Sount Hilo District of the Big Island of Hawaii in 2006.  This means the market was absorbing about 28 Residential units a month in 2006.  
Our current stats as of Today are:
Total Residential Units Available: 172 Number priced under $500,000:  104Number of 2007 Residential Solds at the end of April 2007:  74The May 2007 data is not complete yet.  If the trend continues, the market is absorbing 18 homes a month in the South Hilo Hilo District for 2007.  The market absorbed 10 more residential units a month in 2006 then it is currently absorbing.  In my opinion, it continutes to … (0 comments)

Big Island of Hawaii - North Kona District Residnetial Solds for 2006 - 08:20 PM
According to our MLS we had 453 Residential Solds for the North Kona District of the Big Island of Hawaii in 2006.  This means the market was absorbing about 38 Residential units a month (10 more a month than the South Hilo District) in 2006. 
Our MLS stats as of today are:
Total Residential Units Available:  360Number priced under $600,000:  100Number of 2007 Residential Solds at the end of Arpil 2007:  160The May 2007 data is not complete yet.  If the trend continues, the market is absorbing 40 homes a month in the South Kona District for 2007.  The market seems to be absorbing 2 more residential units a month in 2007 then … (0 comments)

Disaster Shelters; Is Your Community Prepared? - 04:53 AM
  
I spent a few hours this morning at a Red Cross drill.  It was a simulation of the opening and operation of an area disaster shelter.  The simulated event was a tropical storm that was gheading towards us and expected to be upgraded to a hurricane.  It was held at Mililani Uka Elementary School, which is the site of one of our shelters.
Living on an island that is geographically the furthest point on the planet from a major land mass, puts an extra burden on us to be self-sufficient and as prepared as possible for disasters.

There are No Short Cuts to Becoming a Real Estate Professional - 01:24 PM
I have run into many inexperienced people in our industry from all facets of the business.  I see a common problem in an overwhelming percentage of them.  Very few are prepared to do what it takes to learn their craft.
The fact is that most newbie's take short cuts.  They are unwilling to make the investment of time, money and education required to become a top professional.

Closing Gifts - What Do You Think? - 04:12 AM
When my husband and I bought our first home we were pleasantly surprised to find a house-warming gift from our Realtor.  We already thought highly of him but this definitely left an impression on us.
Several years later and now a Realtor myself I have a great desire to do the same for my clients....congratulate them and welcome them to their new home.  My personality is for it to be something that is meaningful to the client based on who they are.
