As you all know, the Flat Jack got top secret video of Active Rain Birthday Bash in Orlando Florida in Orlando was a huge success. About twenty five Active Rainer attended the bash. Cyndee has some great moments posted. Remember his cute little motivation piece I'm going to sell me a house!!!! It is a catchy little tune. Well Broker Bryant got a singing telegram about 5:30 at the celebration. Well it is pretty much official unless a miracle happens which I am still working on, my husband and I will be relocating. We are putting our home on the market and pricing it to sell even in a slow market. With knowing this was a possibility I have been searching for the area in the US that has the following - thus far I have found a few areas in Texas and Colorado. Any help or referrals would be appreciated. We would like to purchase a home under $100,000 What we would like to find - at least 2 bedrooms - with

What is Your Definition of Professional Behavior for a Real Estate Agent? - 03:10 AM
In a few recent blog posts I have gotten a few responses challenging my ideas about professionalism. Those who challenged my opinions in most cases are those who do not practice what I preach. I personally try to follow all of the items on the below list and firmly believe that even though this may not be a complete list, but it is a good list of what makes up a pattern of professional behavior. This is a list of some of things I feel make up a pattern of professional behavior for a real estate agent: Become a member of the Board of

Now I see the light - 03:04 PM
Most of you may remember that I was having a difficult time. The thought to just give up had popped into my head more frequently that I wanted it to. I decided though that I did not want to give up. I hate letting anything in life beat me. I have overcome a lot of things in my life. I wasn't going to let real estate be the first thing to beat me. I tried doing more prospecting and internet SEO. I worked to try to learn other areas better. I did notice my phone ringing more. But not the kind

Pascack Valley Real Estate>>Why Real Estate is like Eyeglasses - 12:29 PM
Hopefully my title caught your eye (pardon the pun) and you're wondering "Why Real Estate is like Eyeglasses?" Yesterday Bob and I got new Eyeglasses. For those of you who can relate to this, you may get the analogy. Let's look at this for a moment, shall we? I had always maintained 20/20 perfect eyesight. However, as I grew closer to the half century mark, things started to get a bit fuzzy. So I started using over the counter reading glasses and kept a pair in every room of the house. One day I noticed that my long distance eyesight was not

Is it us? Or is the market picking up steam again?! - 12:35 PM
Would love to hear from everyone in the Active Rain Network as well as the Public. Is it just us? Or is the market picking up steam again? Whether or not the year has been kind to Agents, Sellers or Buyers, it appears that the state of the real estate market is still pretty healthy. Perhaps the market is returning to a "Normal" market? We are a full time husband and wife Realtor® team engaged in the business of real estate on a daily basis. We are noticing that the inventory became very high at one point in the early Spring. This Little Piggy is in Marketing - 09:29 AM
Finally, after years of passing this fanciful and distracting landmark I stopped to get a good look and take picture. I have always been tickled by this little piggy enduring the elements either "au natural", or dressed up for an occasion. The pig is a full figure sized fashionista. It has sported eye-catching theme outfits, hawaiian, Christmas and more. I must have caught it sunbathing in the nude. I have seen it wearing a bathingsuit! Looking out at the Aspetuck Valley Country Club, this smiling stone adds a touch of bohemian whimsy to Weston. The road is narrow with an old intersection that needs to be maneuvered with

Finding Homes for Everyone! - 04:33 PM
Yes, in today's market they are moving slow to find a new home. Take for instance this afternoon, I was on my way home when I spotted someone searching for a new place to live. I assessed the area that they were at. The vertical rocks on the side of the road were attractive, but definitely not the right place. I knew that my expertise was needed to find them the perfect home. So, I picked them up and put them in my car. They were so excited, they peed! (Don't you love it when customers get excited!) Thank heaven I had a towel down,

A Trulia Question - Paying For Improvements Will It Return? - 10:18 PM
A few days ago, Pat Kitano of Transparentre.com was kind enough to send me an email to see if I would be interested in answering a question on Trulia: paying for improvements will it return ? The query was something all of us hear on occasion, usually at gatherings when people just want to pick our brain about the market. But always a good question! Thank you, Pat.

How to increase your real estate sales - 10:23 AM
My last post " How do your sales compare to last year" inspired me to write this post. How to increase your sales would go a long way in helping us all. I'm hoping we get a nice long list. I'm looking for some new, fresh ideas on increasing sales, obtaining listings & buyer clients that have actually worked for others. I will start with 3 that have gotten me results lately. 1.Craigslist advertising my Open House - got me a buyer/seller client 2. Positive attitude. Enthusiasm for your job, & speak professionally at all times about others. You never know when what you say may

Conserving Water in the Desert: A Wise Thing to do with the Drought in Full Force! - 04:49 PM
The western drought has no end in sight and drought + watering restrictions are in full force. Several (about three) years ago our neighbors decided to not water their lawn anymore. Unfortunately our sprinklers are connected together so it became a battle to keep our lawn alive. We decided to throw the towel in this year, forget fighting the battle and convert from lawn to desert landscaping. Rock and shrubs are boring so I wanted to do something different and I added a flower bed with drip irrigation on either side of the river + three med palms. I am so happy

So Your Air Conditioner is Broke, It is Going to Take a Week to Get Fixed, How Will You Stay Cool in the Desert? - 05:32 PM
The best way to stay cool is to use evaporative cooling or a swamp coolers . Yup, you guessed it, ours broke down this past week! Luckily we have two A/C's but unluckily it was our sleeping quarter A/C's that broke down. Many people told us about "Swamp Coolers" (Evaporative Coolers) in the past. Evaporative coolers are fans that blow out water. They work best in dryer climates with windows and doors open right in front of the unit so they can draw in the hot, dry (not moist or humid air. The best thing to do is run your evaporative cooler

My Neato Frito Signature Courtesy of Joanne Hanson - 06:02 PM
People have been asking in my blog and emails where got my signature. I was reading blog posts yesterday and came across Joanne's post on how to do it. You can go to www.mylivesignature.com to get yours! You can do many fonts, styles, angles, etc. You can also pay to have it animated which I didn't have time to do yesterday. It is a pain to post because it is HTML and I have it copied and saved on a notepad document. It adds a step to every blog post because once I post, I have to click "edit" at the bottom

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED? - 05:25 PM
HOW DO WE GET OUR POLLS UP Have you noticed that it seems like everything in life has to be done by taking a poll today? There was a poll released in the REALTOR MAGAZINE not long ago that showed Real Estate Agents' popularity ranking down around lawyers and snake oil salesmen (just kidding Mr. Attorney). Seriously, I was surprised and less than thrilled with that projection of my profession, and therefore ME and how I'm doing in my Shell Knob community. Than I saw a current poll on line this past week. The question posed was : Were you SATISFIED with your last

The Nametag Guy - 06:28 AM
This whole approach would also work for real estate. Simple, wear a nametag out and about and look what can happen. People will approach you, call you by your name, start to ask you Real Estate questions. Everyone wants free advice. You can be standing on line at the supermarket and with a name tag the public will know that you are an agent and approach you. Seems pretty simple and is great marketing. >

Boycotting and the Internet - 02:46 PM
This morning I spoke to a homeowner in a community in mid-Westchester County. She is about to put a rental property on the market in Scarsdale and is calling every office in the community to give an open listing. I and as I am sure others said to her why don't you list your property with one agent and place it on the multiple listing. That way you can save yourself a lot of work and reach more prospective tenants. And guess what she said to me. Oh no, the last time we listed with an agent we were boycotted. She
