Realtors and Home Stagers Partnering to Sell - 08:18 PM
I know that there have been many discussions here on AR about Home Staging and why Realtors should use it. One of the points that Stagers like to make is that just about every house can benefit from Staging in some capacity because it is difficult for Sellers to look at their own home with "Buyers' eyes". Further, we like to point out the advantages for Realtors who 'partner' with Home Stagers on their listings. I, for one, spent many months last year 'marketing' the concept of Home Staging to local Realtors here on Long Island. I honestly have to tell

4th of July Celebration & Fireworks in Miami Shores, FL - 09:34 AM
Miami Shores puts together a really great 4th of July event every year. All the residents look forward to the activities and the fireworks display. There's live music, food, activities for the kids including bounce houses, and it all starts at 6:00 PM. The actual fireworks display starts at 9:00 PM and you can see it from the Aquatic

Open House vernacular translated - 10:23 PM
In the Real Estate Industry we get comfortable with our "lingo" and with the every day dealings that seem so normal to us and forget to think about the regular consumer that does not deal with real estate issues all the time. You know what I'm talking about the day you are hosting an open house and someone knocks on the door and waits for you to open the door, then is afraid to come in, or expects you to walk them around the property. You can tell right away that they don't do this often and don't know if there's a

Summer Rentals: It’s Not Too Late - 01:25 PM
According to the real estate article Summer Rentals: It's Not Too Late on NYTimes.com, real estate agents say "it's a renter's market this summer in many prime vacation spots." Furthermore, the summer rental market has eased because of greater inventory and new later booking trends. Even popular vacation spots still have avaliabilty. And, even in exclusive areas like the Hamptons, late-summer rentals are still on the market. Read the entire article Summer Rentals: It's Not Too Late on NYTimes.com

My De-Contribution to Localism Photos - 03:56 PM
I've had a really long week. So long that I haven't commented on any posts in the last 2 days, much less post something of my own. I just checked Active Rain to see what I've been missing. Looks like a lot! I can always count on some good stuff going on here. That's what makes this place so valuable. While here I noticed my Localism photo contribution had changed yet again. I've written in the past about my pictures disappearing (being deleted by the powers-that-be). The cleaning up of pictures on Localism is a good thing. What I don't understand

Do you JOTT? - 03:25 PM
Have you ever wished for an effective way to leave reminders for yourself on the fly? Most people's reminder notes are a mix of small pieces of paper (always get lost) or notes on a file or an organizer (as time passes you forget they are even there). I've even tried text messaging myself and leaving voice notes to myself on my cell phone. Again, forgetting they are there. Have you ever saved a voice mail and forgot all about it? Finally, I may have found the perfect solution! It's called Jott. Set up an account, program the number into your

Share Success Story : Get Cool Stuff - 03:27 PM
Last week I heard some really awesome success stories from past-grads. Linda Scanlan told me how she used the Marketablity Checklist taught in session 4 to list a home at 8% commission, Susanna Trussell used the Timing Analysis from session 2 to list a FSBO, then pulled out the expired list a few days later to keep him from turning away a great offer! Finally, Sheila O'Bannon told me how she's over 10 listings now (and she only started last December then promptly enrolled in the SMART Program) and Rita Price used the Comparison Shopping Analysis to overcome "we want to

The best real estate trainer ever?! - 03:31 PM
This post showed up on my main blog a few days ago and has been one of the most forwarded posts to date. It reminds me of the campaign run by the Australian "realtor.com" equivalent. You can see that post here. All I can say, is you HAVE to click the picture! ;-)

2007 4th of July events in Riverton, NJ - 06:41 AM
Click here for the 2008 Update 4th of July is coming up quick...how will you be celebrating this year? Here is a List of Events, by the Burlington County Times For my family and I, the parade in Riverton has become our tradition. In the past we used to head out to the fireworks in Medford, but 2 young kids later we haven't attended in years. I'm guess that'll be in our future again shortly. Anyway, I highly recommend the parade in Riverton. It starts at 10am and runs along Main Street, ending at Memorial Park. After the parade there are activities, refreshments

My Favorite Place to Hang Out is The Fairway? - 08:43 AM
Little did anyone know that I've been working on something. I was born with a genetic defect that renders me useless on a golf course. There, I said it. I suck at golf. I made up my mind to overcome my disability Oddly, I won a round of golf at a local course. Tiburon - The Ritz Carlton, Naples. This isn't the Ritz on the Gulf, it's the Ritz - WCI Communities Development with the golf course designed by Greg Norman. By the way, Tiburon is Spanish for Shark. Get it? At any rate I decided to take the bull by the horns

Don't Pretend To Be The Expert, BE One Like Fellow Rainer Mitchell Hall - The Media Just Might Find You - 07:11 PM
He is too much of a gentleman to hype himself but, the media has found Mitchell not once but three times since I have known him. He is really a good example of how to be the 'go to' person for the media, consumers and other professionals...heck, even the Korean Government! More on that later. There are how many people in NYC? And how many real estate practitioners? Let's just say, since I don't have my calculator with me.....MUCHO! According to Mitchell, there are over 28,000 Realtors® alone. So why is the media finding Mitchell, the proverbial needle in a haystack? My

Integrity Part 2 - 02:51 PM
I've been sitting here thinking about what I can write about integrity. How integrity effects our life, how the lack of integrity effects our life. How does integrity begin? And what causes it to fail in our lives and the lives of others. As Realtors we sit in Ethic classes so we can be instructed how to do the right thing. But weren't we born to be honest? When did being deceptive and clever become a skill? When Southern Colorado real estate makes the news (and it will) I will be standing where the dust didn't even blow. I won't be

I had a great day...did you? - 04:05 PM
Photo by Flickr I wrote this on Saturday but did not post it until now so if you were confused of the dates this is the reason. Today I had a really enjoyable day. This past week since I returned from one of the ActiveRain Gatherings...my phone was ringinig and agents wanted to show some my listings and was in the process of finalizing a lease I was getting of my rental properties in Weston and it was my first real lead from Activerain! "How cool is that?" Well my day began at 9am and I went to the gym for a work out. First I did about one hour of
