Before you twist the cap..... (and a closing gift idea) - 08:51 PM
I have always been a big fan of bottled water.  I would prefer an ice cold bottle of water to an ice cold beer any day.  It's cleaner, healthier, safer, right?  Well, I won't even really get into the health issue here; I want to focus on the environmental impact.  Before you twist the cap on your next bottle of water consider this:
1.5 million barrels of oil are used each year in the U.S. to manufacture bottles for drinking water 1.5 million tons of plastic are used each year worldwide to manufacture bottles for drinking water additional oil consumption is necessary to … (8 comments)

What Happened to my Blog Subscriptions? - 12:18 PM
Is anyone else having this problem this morning?  All my blog subscriptions are gone!!!  I keep thinking that I'm at the wrong page but I know that I am.
Is this an isolated issue just to me or are others experienceing the same problem.   I haven't checked my bookmarks.
If I've lost these I'm majorly bummed!!!  Some of them I didn't read everyday but they were people that I wanted to stay connected to.

"Cozy" sells for less - Getting Flat' Ben's Ready for Market - 12:02 AM

I went over to Flat Ben's today, planning to spend about four hours getting the "first impression" portion of the house to look a little bigger and brighter.
By the time I arrived, Ben had some of the things moved where I had asked him to move them.  This is a small bungalow, and we're not trying to turn it into a McMansion, but we are trying to make it show bigger and brighter.
For me, staging is not decorating, and cozy sells for less.  So I want to highlight the best features of the home, which in Ben's case are the … (21 comments)

Tri-Cities Washington Best Investor Market in Nation - 04:09 PM
We've lived in the Tri City area of Southeast Washington for four years. We moved here to semi-retire. We cashed-in on properties we owned in Southern California and Mammoth Mountain California, and bought into our current market with the purchase of several multi-family properties. We expected to live off the rental income and didn't expect much by way of appreciation. We've been pleasantly surprised. All our multi-family properties have increased in value by an average of at least 25%, and the house we live in has nearly doubled in value. All this happening while the rest of the nation's real estate … (0 comments)

Debt to Income Ratios and it's Effect on Available Real Estate Credit - 11:28 PM
Debt to income ratio is used by lending institutions to determine whether a person is qualified for a mortgage. It is a way to calculate how much a person's income goes toward payment of debt and how much he can afford to spend on monthly housing costs.  It shows what percentage of a person's income is available for a mortgage payment after other obligations are met.  The debt to income ratio is one important aspect a lender considers before approving a loan.
Credit is what people use to buy products or debt services today and pay for it at a later … (0 comments)

Well I’ve been book MeMe’d and I must admit Huston we have a problem! - 10:39 AM
At first I didn't even know what a book MeMe was. Then there was another big hurdle to jump in the book MeMe situation, I HATE TO READ!
I have hated to read and write since the 3rd grade! I actually hated school because of my 3rd grade teacher. Don't get me wrong, blogging and writing are two different things. I hate to write freehand! Mainly, because when I do, I get told I write like a girl! My handwriting is almost perfect! Once again thanks to that evil 3rd grade teacher.
But, now back to books. I just never have … (7 comments)

Getting a bank to cooperate with a short sale - 06:51 PM
First of all, what is a short sale?  If you are behind on your payments, a short sale is where the bank is willing to take less than you owe, so you can avoid going into foreclosure. One of the problems with a short sale is getting the bank to say yes to a short sale. They are losing money after all, but if you can give them a reason to accept it, then it can be better for your finances.
If you have owned a home for more than two years in the Portland area, than more than likely a short … (7 comments)

What is a BPO? - 09:15 AM
In the Real Estate business there are a lot......a lot of acronyms.  So what do they all mean.  The one I get a lot of questions on is a BPO.  You may hear the term if you are in the banking industry, lending industry and definitely in the Real Estate business.  BPO is a Broker Price Opinion.  Sometimes a bank will solicit the expertise of a Real Estate Broker/REALTOR to give their opinion of price on a certain property.  It could be for many reasons and most of the time the Broker doesn't know why they are receiving the order, but … (5 comments)

Real Estate Video - Success Story - 11:34 AM
Good things are happening…
Be encouraged. A success story:
Susan, a writer for The New York Times, needed to sell her NYC apartment. Videographer Teddy Stoecklein was found on WellcomeMat and hired to shoot the video. After Susan listed her property with real estate agent Doug Heddings, the video was viewed by an Italian woman who only viewed the video twice before scheduling a physical appointment. The woman couldn’t decide whether or not to put an offer on the property, so she decided to send the video link to her family in Italy. The video was then viewed three more … (8 comments)

Is it Going To Last? - Find the Life Expectancy of the components in your home - 07:19 PM
If you are looking at buying a home, selling a home, or even just updating your home here are some reasonable estimates of how long, at most, different components in your home will tend to last. These numbers are complements of the National Association of Home Builders. Remember these numbers can vary greatly depending on the quality of material, installation, environmental factors, maintenance, and use. Edmond Public Schools - List of High Schools - 11:22 PM
As we all know, information is king when it comes to choosing a home, so I generally try to include as much information as possible when we list a home... lists of schools, nearby restaurants, neighborhood amenities, city attractions, and statistics are just a few of the things I try to include in my blog posts. I love including local information, because I know it's what people are looking for when they begin their home search.
I recently did a blog post about Edmond Public Schools adding their 16th elementary school, Centennial Elementary and my memories of how small Edmond used to … (0 comments)
