Banning Ranch is located along the Santa Ana River and Pacific Coast Highway, and is 412 acres of wetlands and adjacent bluffs and mesa. This property has escaped the residential development that is characteristic of much of Newport Beach and Huntington Beach due to its use for oil production. Banning Ranch is the largest piece of privately held open space in the West Newport Beach area. From the mesa on Banning Ranch, one has a beautiful panoramic view that stretches from the Santa Ana River to the Pacific Ocean. One can see Catalina Island, and enjoy cool ocean breezes. My "Green" Orange from Orange County, CA - 08:00 PM
What's a CSA? Farms like to describe CSA (Community Supported Agricultural) as a partnership between a food grower and a food consumer. Generally the partnership is between a local organic farm and a community of supporters that together wish to preserve the agricultural life and heritage of their community as well as guarantee for themselves a reliable, healthy and safe source of food. CSA’s were originally created by a group of food consumers who were concerned about their food's safety. They were striving to avoid the ambiguity and uncertainty of how or where their foods were grown. Thus the CSA was … (8 comments)

I would love some clarity. Thanks

Getting rid of that bad odor. - 01:24 PM
It was taught to me years ago on how to remove an odor.
No, it was not taught to me by my Mom. It was taught to be by, none other than, my Dad on how to remove the odor out of whatever.
My Dad has worked on cars all of my life. He would repair them mechanically and clean them up for resale. Well, if he ran across one that was sitting for a while or someone just trashed the inside and there was a foul odor. You guessed it. He would put a bounce sheet in the car and instead … (2 comments)

Dr. Mariana Wagner's One-Post Cure-all for Writers' Block - 11:38 AM
Localism is an excellent tool to show WHY you are the expert of a particular area. Proving that you ARE the expert of an area sets you apart from all the other real estate agents.
Sometimes the task of proving that you ARE the expert can be a bit daunting. We ALL get Writer's Block! I have had recent feedback, here on Active Rain, which mirrors some frustrations I have had:
How am I going to do ONE post that incorporates EVERYTHING about my area just to prove that I am the expert?
Well, you don't have to. In fact, you shouldn't. … (49 comments)

I like to do a little research before I do anything. I have not heard about this site (www.point2.com) until today. Could anyone tell me what they think of it? Does it help and what have you gotten out of it.

Burlington County NJ Market Update - 01:23 PM
So how is the market these days?  That's a question I often hear from prospective buyers and sellers alike.  If you listen to the national media, most of the stories you hear are all doom and gloom.  You constantly hear about how hard it is to sell a home right now and how hard it's becoming for buyers to get a mortgage.  Are we in a tough market right now?  In one word...Yes!  But if you are motivated enough to buy or sell, it can happen!
At the end of the day, the biggest factor is price.  If the home is … (0 comments)

Another Adventure in Blatant Self Promotion—We’re Opening a NEW Collectibles Store! - 06:16 AM
When I first arose this fine Saint Paul Morning—we were just about to receive yet another spectacular fireworks show courtesy of good ol’ Mother Nature! A fast-moving storm roared through, spent 10 or 15 minutes dumping rain, and providing some short-term excitement around these parts.
Now, I’m enjoying my chipped and well-used “Codger Collectible (January Edition) Mug of organically & shade-grown, fair-trade, Guatemalan-Roast coffee, helping to fire up my remaining brain-synapses to synapting and giving me a jump-start for the day.
If you combine today’s graphic with the title of this post—you’ll have a pretty fair idea of what I am … (13 comments)

Can terms of a Mortgage Loan Change When Sold? - 11:31 PM
This question came up in a client meeting. I asked her if she had a pre-payment penalty on her loan. She said, "no." Then I told her I had a couple of clients in the past who were surprised to find they still had time due on a pre-payment clause and ended up owing thousands of dollars. They had also told me they did not have a pre-payment clause at the beginning of a listing.
She told me it was a fairly new re-fi and that she had double, double checked regarding the pre-payment issue. Then, suddenly she appeared concerned. Soon after this … (4 comments)

Are McMansions in Danger of Losing Their Tax Benefits? - 12:41 PM
Leave it to a Democrat, and one named Dingell for that matter, to screw up the economy even more.  Yes, this dude wants to draft a bill that would eliminate the mortgage interest deduction on homes over 3,000 square feet (my own home will get a new survey of 2,999 if this happens).
The Michigan Democrat (Rep. John D. Dingell) who heads the Energy and Commerce Committee expects to introduce comprehensive climate change reform legislation once the House returns next month.  He stated that the bill will week to "remove the mortgage interest deduction on McMansions - homes over 3,000 square … (24 comments)

ActiveRain Sponsors Deceptive???? - 07:19 PM
Perhaps it's just me, but could someone explain how those new ActiveRain Sponsored Ads fit in with the http://activerain.com/blogsview/79084/ActiveRain-s-Weltanschauung
Okay, I can understand someone sponsoring a real estate related ad, but one for photos?
I certainly understand AR's need to make money and be profitable, but there should be some type of professionalism to the ads allowed on the site.
I welcome your opinion, perhaps I'm viewing this the wrong way.
