Hail Hail Purdue - 09:56 PM
I'll be heading to the Purdue - ND game this weekend to hang with the college pals. these are the guys that got me into smoking fine cigars. Well, smoking cigars period. I love a good smoke, I found shop here some time ago and they have a great house brand, but they discontinued it. I am so bummed. It was a light wrapper, very smooth and delicious mild taste. I will miss that one till I find it again. I used to love Don Tomas: the Limited Edition the Churchill. I like my stogies big that takes me at least

Vancouver Real Estate Affordability in the National Post Today! - 03:03 PM
Brian Hutchinson of the National Post has written an article about the affordability challenges facing Vancouver home buyers today. Its a fairly typical story of a fellow and his wife who didn't buy into the real estate market 3-5 years ago and now find that they are priced out of the market. Take a look. There are links to articles about similar issues in Toronto and another one about falling prices in Calgary there as well. I found out about this article on the Vancouver Condo Info blog.

Announcing Real Estate Home Staging Blog Carnival - 01:00 PM
I had started a blog carnival earlier this year but wasn’t able to keep it up since life was getting a little bit crazy, also not that many stagers were blogging. But now it’s a little bit different. I have been seeing more and more stagers blog about their passion and love for staging and how staging can better the industry. So I want to bring the carnival back! To help establish a presence in the community and introduce staging to others. The carnival will be in place every 2 weeks. And we will see how it goes The

What's Wrong With Pricing Too High? - 01:57 PM
So, you're at a listing appointment and your clients turn to you and say, "What's wrong with pricing my home a little high?" Is it at that point that you want to strangle them or what? My job, as far as I see it, is to educate my clients so that they KNOW what's wrong with that picture. A high price scares away many buyers because they can go elsewhere and get more house for the money. They just won't perceive the value. Over priced homes usually sell the competition first. As a house continues to sit on the market, people will also shy away

It's Time To Get That SRES Designation.... - 11:07 PM
Several things are prompting me to get the SRES Designation. It's easy to forget what my generation takes in stride isn't always so easy for others. For the past few months, I've been working with my mom and two of her best 'girlfriends' as the decided to sell their homes and move into new construction condos. They are all widows and have been emotionally up and down, so worried about the cost, the packing and the move. Before the walk through with the first lady, she was so worried about paint drips, marks on the walls, nothing could reassure her that the

What Mom's Say Every Day- The Condensed Version - 11:55 PM
I apologize for the fact I have no clue how to post a youtube video on Active Rain and I'm just providing a link, but this was sent to me today and it's the funniest 'MOM' thing I've seen in a while. I know I've said most of these things, my mom definitely had more 'because I said so' moments than me. My kids were laughing it up, they remember......Check this out....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqe0OrgGxqo

Eat Clean - How Do You Do It? - 01:44 PM
I love weight training... have been doing it off & on (mostly on) for over 25 years. I've been in a new neighborhood gym that just opened up last November, and it's taken awhile to meet some of the regulars. Like me, most of these folks are pretty serious about their workouts and there's not a lot of socializing going on. A woman recently stopped me during my workout to ask me what I was training for. (Life!) During the course of our conversation, I discovered she was a trainer, so started asking questions about diet, since my standard method of taking off a few accumulated pounds had

I Have No Shame When It Comes To Asking For Business - 02:09 AM
Today the Brokers in La Pine found out just how big of a clutz I really am. I keep telling them I am but some of them thought I was exaggerating. So, I made my gracefullness known as I walked or should I say tripped my way down a driveway. Yep, I fell right there and laid on the ground for a minute or two before getting up. Throughout the day my ankle gave out 3 more times, so I figured it was time to head to the ER. It was the perfect night to go to ER they were slow which was

Stressed Home Owners: Is There a Bailout in the Works? - 08:57 PM
I ran across this article from Kiplinger Forecasts this morning. It does a fair job of addressing the question on every troubled home owner’s mind: Is there a bail out coming? So far, the answer appears to be no. Despite high level legislative chatter, the recent Bush proposal for FHASecure—the details of which remain vague, and the inevitable debate about the “moral hazard” of keeping the dirty bath water to save the baby, no broad plan has emerged. That may be understandable in light of the fact that 70% of the foreclosure problem exists in 7 states. If your state didn’t

Digging, Ecavating....UNEARTHING -- Things I needed to Learn (A Feng Shui Perspective) - 09:27 AM
I never cease to be amazed at how profound our surroundings effect us or what they can cause. I knew when these problems surfaced in my house, some ENERGY was being stirred up, just didn't realize the extent of it. After five full weeks of intense and deep digging to level the ground I was curious to see what would eventually SURFACE. I somehow thought all the good things would come to light but I realized something important that I should have already known: You need to fully let go of the OLD in order to bring in the NEW. Actually, I should have suspected

New Hampshire Fall Foliage - 09:16 PM
New Hampshire has long been known for it's awesome fall colors and trying to gauge just when the right time to go leaf peeping is can be hard. A few days makes a big difference in the colors you'll see. I found this cool tool for trying to figure out when the best time will be to enjoy New Hampshire's vibrant fall colors! Are you a leaf peeper? If so this is an awesome site for mapping out the "At Peak" times. Jay and I were up in Bretton Woods NH at the Mount Washington Resort this past week. It was
