My My My... Aren't YOU Something. What Are You Doing To Be Something? - 04:57 PM
I wrote just the other day about having a conversation with another agent who told me "If you want more pictures you'll have to take them yourself"... today I had quite the opposite conversation with another agent. I previewed her listing yesterday and took video to send to a client in Utah. She called today to see what I thought of her listing. I told her the house was adorable (and it was) and that I had taken video and sent it to my out of state client. Her response was, "My My My, Aren't you something!" I just laughed and said, "Well in my opinion,

Sign of the times magazine article - 07:24 AM
I came across a great article from the Dow Jones web site MarketWatch.com. This is a great web site for real estate professionals and I suggest that we bookmark it as a daily source of valuable information. Yesterdays article was written by an excellant writer Jennifer Openshaw. The article was about how the loan process is working in the Foreclosure capital of the Unitied States, which for some reason is Stockton, CA. It was very interesting in that even in the worse of markets it is possible to get a mortgage, it just will take a little longer. Basically in summary, a buyer will need the

Home Prices to Recover in 2008 - 01:23 PM
The latest economic forecast by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® shows home prices recovering in 2008 as housing inventory falls from current levels. "Buyers now have an overwhelming advantage given the wide selection of homes available in many markets," says Lawrence Yun, NAR senior economist. "But with profit margins coming under pressure, homebuilders will limit new construction well into 2008. This should help the overall inventory level to move steadily into a more balanced state." NAR says existing-home sales will begin picking up late this year, rising to a total of 6.11 million for 2007 and 6.37 million in 2008. Those

Sellsius° Real Estate Blog - 04:05 AM
Fans of Sellsius° Real Estate Blog know they have not posted since August 4, 2007. The August 4, 2007 post was: "We've Gone Fishing." That was not the title, that was the entire entry, forgive me for plagiarizing it. Today, the day after Labor Day, the one month anniversary of their last post... Will they post on September 4, 2007? For some reason I thought they would post last Monday. They've received 45 comments on their August 4 post, entitled "See Ya." Sellsius Real Estate Blog got 17 comments by not posting for a week last fall... the entry then was about

Can You Over Stage Your Home? - 09:41 AM
In a word: YES. Let me give you an example. I showed a Naperville home last summer. When we opened the front door there sat an opera chair with long black opera gloves and a red rose (fake) on it. Next, we saw that the furniture in the small living room had been moved...but the old marks in the carpet had not been removed. On the dining room table was a gigantic flower arrangement on top of some crushed velvet fabric. And, then, in the master bedroom, on the bed were 2 champagne flutes on a tray! Come on! Like, who lives like

How The State Of The Industry Affected My State Of Mind. - 09:35 PM
From The Desk Of A Full-Time Mortgage Consultant And Former Psychology Major (I graduated with a degree in B.S.) I saw it coming (The Mortgage Market), just not as hard and volatile as it came. My business remained good even though the industry continued down the path of turmoil. Then, something happened that turned me and my business, for one brief moment, upside freaking down. I bought into the perception of something I could probably never change. When your psyche gets lost, your reality follows suit. The psychology of how we live, why we live, and what goes down, is not only a mere figment,

Harford County Market Report - August 2007 - 01:14 PM
The following are the housing statistics for the month of August 2007 in Harford County: Total Active: 1884 (Holding steady compared to July 2007) Total under contract: 131 Total Sold: 273 Total Withdrawn/Expired: 260 The total under contract drastically reduced in numbers for August compared to July, probably due to the fact that folks are getting that last little vacation in and getting the kids ready for school. The total active is holding fairly steady, total sold was slightly up from 254 for July and withdrawn/expired is pretty much the same as July. I would expect things to start picking back up in mid-September. Gary and Mary Nelson, REALTORS Long

Dive Report - Washingtonian - 07:44 PM
A little off the subject, but thought that some of you might like to hear about something other than mortgage company's, real estate, or what is usually talked about here. This is a dive report for a wreck dive we did on Sunday. Myself and 5 others made the trip to Indian River, DE. to catch the dive boat "To Dive For". We had chartered the boat and decided to dive on the Washingtonian. This ship was sunk in a collision with the Elizabeth Palmer back in 1915 and is laying in 90 feet of water off Ocean City Maryland about 15

Honestly, I think that was Very Dishonest of you!!! - 01:43 PM
Consumers Must Read!!!! New week, New work, New post!!! I came into work this morning and had 2 Closings going on back to Back, and they went fine, that should put a smile on my face, but my last closing took that away. I had a third closing that was supposed to close at 1:00, well 1:00 came around and no show, So I called my client whom I worked very hard for, and ask him what was going on, and he said that another Mortgage Broker had called him, and asked to look at the Good Faith Estimate that I gave him, and I always give my

Spicing up Your Market Reports with Charts & Graphs: An Active Rain Tutorial - 08:45 AM
Over the last month or so, I’ve posted several market reports about sales in Northern Virginia. Active Rain and blogging provides us with an excellent opportunity to distribute this valuable information to consumers in your area and those considering moving to your region. In these reports, I have often created colorful and eye-appealing graphs and charts to illustrate the raw market data that I culled from the MLS. I like to use charts as a visual representation of the market statistics, because most consumers and agents find it easier to interpret a chart at a quick glance rather than dredging through
