Mobile County and Baldwin County Real Estate Statistics and Trends - October 2008 - 01:52 PM
The statistics have been tabulated for residential sales that occurred in Mobile County and Baldwin County during the month of October according the Gulf Coast MLS data (Mobile Association of Realtors) and the MLS data from the Baldwin County Association of Realtors.   The results show that we felt the current uncertainty of our economy.  There was a decrease in the number of sales in both counties.  The number of buyers has decreased in the past month.  Fall is normally a time when we see a slow down in the number of sales, but the current economy also is leading to a … (0 comments)

Chateau Morrisette mile market 171 1/2 off of Blue Ridge Pkwy - 02:51 PM
My Husband surprised me for my Birthday this weekend and took me to the beautiful Chateau Morrisette.  The drive this time of year on the Blue Ridge Parkway was breathtakingly beautiful and of course the food and wine were great at the winery.
We stayed at Connor Mountain retreat, which offers 2 cabins directly across the drive way from the winery.  So comfortable and cozy and in the most beautiful setting you can imagine.

Don't Let Fear Steal Your Hopes - 10:02 AM
Fear is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, motivating factors for mankind. We are born with it as a natural defense to danger and other fears are input into us by our parents or others close to us during our developmental periods. My mother, for example, had a terrible fear of heights. When I was younger I was afraid to be three feet off the ground. To combat it my father, an Army Ranger, stood me on the top ledge of a 900 foot wall and held me by my waist. I was fine until my mother panicked and … (11 comments)

What Are All The Changes Ken? I Mean With Your AR Blog ... - 03:54 PM
Let me put this simply: I have access to over $1.1 billion dollars to lend and that does not include Fannie and Freddie. I can do loans up to 97% of the sales price for people with a credit score down to 580. I can loan 100% of the sales price to people with a 680. My rates beat most of the advertisers on Bankrate and my closing costs are market palatable. I never engaged in much sub-prime lending, am an outspoken opponent of people getting loans who don't deserve them, I hate mortgage fraud and I have trained thousands of … (6 comments)

Comment Etiquette: Don't Use Links In The Body - 04:32 PM
Here is today's example. I am in the lending industry. Today I wrote an article about SEO which I have been a part of since before I was in the lending industry and before there was a Yahoo! or Google. One of the comments was from someone in the lending industry who put a link to their website and it DIRECTLY competes with my mortgage company. So without delay or second thought or even giving them a chance to edit ... I deleted their comment completely.
Stick to this rule of thumb and you will never have a problem: don't put … (12 comments)

How Do I Know It's A Good Time To Buy? - 11:31 PM
This is a very simple question to answer and it is all based on need (demand) and choices (supply). Let me see if you answer yes to all five of these questions. If you answer yes to all of them then immediately call me to get qualified for a loan then call one of these great Active Rain real estate agents in your area.
1. Do you have a need to move to a new home? (Tired of renting, growing family, closer to work, big/small yard)
2. Can you afford to make the payments on a new home?
3. Would getting … (0 comments)

Clintonville History - 06:08 AM

A book, 'Clintonville and Beechwold' will be published in 2009 by Clintonville resident Shirley Hyatt.  The book will be published by Arcadia Press in their Images of America series in January 2009. Mrs. Hyatt has a blog too.  The blog Clintonville History  is not the same content as the book. The blog, Clintonville History has content she couldn't fit into the book.
Arcadia Publishing describes Clintonville and Beechwold...
"Clintonville, a Columbus neighborhood situated four miles north of the Ohio Statehouse, began as a sleepy crossroads halfway between Columbus and Worthington. Beechwold, three more miles north, was a farm, then … (2 comments)

The Village People? - 06:18 PM

It takes a village...

We've all heard it said, ala Hillary Clinton: "it takes a village to raise a child".  Well I'm not sure I completely agree with that, however, I'm beginning to realize it does take one … (3 comments)

Successful Active Rain Sightings at NAR EXPO 2008 - 11:42 AM
This was the first year that I ever went to a NAR Convention/Expo.  It was a two hour drive from Gainesville to Orlando - so hey, why not just go?  My goal was to experience the information "OVERLOAD" at all the booths AND to begin the face-to-face meetings with some excellent Active Rain members !
I was just there for the day on Saturday, and couldn't stay for the Active Rain Get-Together at Hard Rock that night.....(I wish I could  have been there) - so.......my goal was to search for the AR Dudes running around in Active Rain T-Shirts.!  I could've … (3 comments)

Buyer's Transaction that Warmed This Realtor's Heart - 09:52 PM
Last Friday, November 7th, I had a closing at 10am at Security Title with my buyers.   As Realtors, we have transaction after transaction - closings after closings.   It's our life.   But, every once in awhile there is a client you work with that presents "challenges" for our current market conditions.  Being a Relentless Realtor, I love a challenge.  I want to win...for my clients.
And when it all finally gets to the closing table....you just want to jump up for joy!
You are filled with a warm heart and happy feeling that their  "mission was accomplished"!
I'd like to introduce you … (43 comments)

Ford and GM on the brink? Of What? - 12:07 PM
They are escentially going out of business as we know them.  The government bailoout will be the last straw. Filing bankruptcy would be the smart thing to do giving them time to restructure and become a vaible force again.  There are just too many car manufacturers for cars being bought.  These companies make things people are not willing to buy.
Is this another Amtract or Post Office. Politics and business means not much will change. What is you feel? Another bailout and then another. Are you ready for a National Auto Company?

New VISTA Acronyms - 07:33 PM
Vista has been a pain in my backside since I got it. I should have ordered a new computer and waited the two weeks for it to come with XP so I wouldn't have to suffer on a DAILY BASIS.
I had a few minutes today and decided to come up with a few new versions of "VISTA".   Feel free to add yours.

Variable illusion sloppily threatens all.
