My 100th Post - To My Dad, My Son & My Brother On Veterans Day - 10:34 PM
My 100th Post - To My Dad, My Son & My Brother On Veterans Day It is a privilege and deep honor to write my 100th post today on Veterans Day November 11th which is also celebrated in other parts of the world as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day marking the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that finally ended World War I at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. It is a day to pay our respect and say thank you to all of the men and women of our Armed Forces around

A Veteran's Day without Dad - 07:37 PM
I've bragged about my dad, Richard "Mac" McGarrigle before and I'll probably brag about my dad until I draw my last breath. Dad was a US Navy Veteran (20 years, Retired, Chief Boiler Technician, WWII) who lived with my husband, TJ, and I until he passed away last month after a long brave fight with Cancer. Dad taught me everything I know about patriotism... He taught me that you could have 3 ships sunk right out from under you and never hold a grudge against anyone. He taught me to salute our flag by putting my hand over my heart whenever it passes by

We Salute You - 01:40 PM
As a Marine Veteran, today is such a special day for me. Even though I only served four years, I still have a special place in my heart for our country. I wanted to share this wonderful video with you and all our Veterans. God has bless us all with the gift of freedom and the ability to always give our best. Please make it a point today to thank someone you know who has served or is currently serving. Also, don't forget to thank their families as well. If it was not for the love and support of my family, I

Happy Veteran's Day Daddy, I love you! - 01:38 PM
My Daddy is my Hero. Today is veterans day and for more reasons that one, it makes me think about my daddy. My dad was in the Navy. He joined right after high school and for the next 4 years while my mom finished high school and went to college for two years they had a long distance romance. Sometimes across most of the world. Nine years ago we had a scare with my daddy having cancer. In fact, his surgery was 11/11/99. 9 years ago today. My dad was born in 1940 to a farmer and raised on a family

Respect Our Veterans - 01:25 PM
He didn’t have to do it. In fact, he probably shouldn’t have. He should have coerced the scout to do his job. Instead, my father took the lead through the suspicious pass during a reconnaissance patrol and gave his limbs to the jungle of Southeast Asia. My maternal grandfather was too young to serve. That didn’t stop him, however. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted under a phony birth date and would eventually participate in the Battle of the Bulge. I like to think that Grandpa regaled his German counterparts with stories for hours on end to coax their

Desiderata of Real Estate - 12:34 PM
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Our lives are crazy. Sometimes it is hard to sit for 5 minutes without the phone ringing and email popping in or even just the thought of a particular contract (or lack of one) racing through our minds. Take time for yourself and find peace – meditate, pray, or

Veterans Day, November 11th - 01:23 PM
Today is a day that the federal government and the majority of the states in the United States, sets aside to honor the men and woman of the military that have served our great nation. With over 24.9 million veterans serving in our military it is a day we set aside to remember them and the service they gave to our great nation. It is a day to say Thank You. My good friend Sarah Cooper, created this Real Estate Show for us to share. I learned about it on Twitter several weeks ago and asked her if we could share

People Are Reading Your Blog! A Note From Craig Leonard- COO of CENTURY 21 - 07:43 AM
There are occasions where I have to justify why I blog to people...Still in this day and age..some really don't understand...while some might view as a waste of time...you have to know..if you are a blogger..there is a good chance people are reading you...even if they do not leave you comments...even if you feel very alone...they are out there reading...and sometimes you just don't know.... Less than 1% of readers respond on blogs! I often wondered why CENTURY 21 did not promote blogs and blogposts like RE/MAX or others..I appreciated the contact from the Chief Operating Officer of CENTURY 21. It

A Tribute and A Prayer - 08:44 AM
TODAY IS VETERAN'S DAY! It is a day to remember all of the men and women who now serve our country and make sacrifices so that we can remain free! Verteran's Day is a day to thank all of the men and woman who have died, become wounded or disabled. My broker's son, Tim, is now on his fourth tour of duty in Iraq. For the past 4 years, he has been home for only 3-4 months and has spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in Iraq, far away from his family. His wife and children have scarified as well. Tim is one of

AGENT SECURITY - PROTECT THYSELF FIRST! REPORT THE OFFENDERS! - 05:20 PM
HOW IN THE WORLD DO SOME AGENTS GET AWAY WITH MURDER? Well, not really murder but holy smokes! They really try hard to make it happen! Case in point (1): Listing says property is vacant (hair stands up on back of head...). Supra lockbox on door. No problem then right? You won't believe this.....there is no key in the lockbox. I call the listing agent. Listing agent says, (I shoulda recorded it...) "The lockbox is there because it has to be there but I put the key inside the outlet plug so that when people call on my sign, they can just

CONCEALED CARRY: WHY AND SHOULD YOU??? - 05:29 PM
An interesting dilemma, the concealed carry license isn't it? Should you get yours? Should you carry when you do have your CCL? Here's what I saw just last night. Scares the bejesus out of me..... I had a small dinner party - 14 or so guests WITH children present. Lady walks in, hands me the bag with her salad makings in it. Man it was heavy!!!! I had two little girls hanging with me so I started to hand one the bag of salad stuff to "help" me take it to the kitchen. "Wait!" said the lady. I turned, asked what

What Are Your Stats on Lead Generation? - 02:41 PM
Lead generation is a numbers thing if you want to actually close some business. The more leads you can get, the better your odds. I'm currently (still) getting all my leads together to transfer over to another agent for my pending move to Austin. I've been giving him the leads slowly, but surely. He has taken the leads and recreated his own databases with them, and has started to send out hello messages to let everyone know we've partnered up. Before giving him my hundreds of leads, I had scrubbed the lists, for the most part, by taking out invalid email

Bad News/Good News For Ann Arbor Area Home Owners - 09:42 AM
The most recent issue of the Michigan Realtor (MAR) is out and has a great article outlining the Michigan housing market compared to the rest of the country. To sum up the article: Michigan did not rise to the housing value heights that other states have; Housing market recovery will likely follow an economic recovery in Michigan; Michigan housing prices are back to 1999/2000 price points. Team366 and this blog have talked about price being king when it comes to real estate sales. The Big House Data summary for the Fourth Quarter 2007 Inventory Report state: Putting the area on

Poinciana Florida Real Estate.....Back to 2001 Prices!!! - 02:47 PM
Hi folks, buckle up, it's time for a new market report. I do have some good news this month. The number of properties that have sold has increased quite drastically over the last 3 months. To be exact, sales have increased 35%!! Inventory has also remained steady with there currently being 1,172 single family homes on the market. This number has been roughly the same for about a year now. However, prices have continued to decline with values dropping 15% since the end of July. You can also see from the table below that Bank owned (REO) and short sale properties

It's Veteran's Day: Support Our Troops - 03:53 PM
It is Veteran's Day, a day to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to honor all those who have served and are currently serving this nation in the Armed Forces. End Of Year Brings Bargains For Buyers - 11:56 AM
End Of Year Brings Bargains For Buyers With the end of 2008 winding down and the normal sales season coming to a crawl, home buyers need to keep their eyes open hot Real Estate deals. There are plenty of foreclosures currently listed that are priced to sell but let's not forget about the normal seller who has the ability to price their home to sell just as fast. These Sellers often get worried during the slow winter months that their home is not getting any activity and often drop price in efforts to attract buyers. These price drops often do

Tax time is just around the corner, I hope your ready - 01:15 PM
I posted the blogg listed below last year and based on the current econimic conditions I feel it is just as relevant today as it was last November when I first posted it. I do hope those agents still in the business are a little more prepared. The majority of Realtors this year have struggled with a declining market. Sales are off and the commission checks are far and few in between. This leads most agents to spend that check as soon as it hits the bank. Unfortunately for those struggling just to make ends meet, there is little left once

Our Observations from NAR - Orlando - 10:31 AM
Traveling back to snowy Denver was tough after a great weekend in sunny Orlando, but we came away from this year's National Association of Realtors convention with a lot of observations and insights into the state of real estate at the moment. We'll be putting together some comprehensive posts in the coming days, but we wanted to give you our zeitgeist, so to speak, of the real estate world, gathered from our time on the Orlando expo floor. Here's some trends we picked up on. Anything that you heard or saw? Leave a comment -- we'd be interested to hear. The
