If I had the floor at the auto rescue talks in front of congress - 05:25 PM
Here is something interesting... read it and see if you agree... it's a great article!MITCH ALBOM
If I had the floor at the auto rescue talksBY MITCH ALBOM . FREE PRESS COLUMNIST . November 23, 2008OK. It's a fantasy. But if I had five minutes in front of Congress last week, here's what I would've said:Good morning. First of all, before you ask, I flew commercial. Northwest Airlines. Had a bag of peanuts for breakfast. Of course, that's Northwest, which just merged with Delta, a merger you, our government, approved - and one which, inevitably, will lead to big bonuses for … (0 comments)

Drive Buyers to Your Website in This Market? Yes! - 01:09 AM
Drive Buyers to your website in this market, you ask?  Well, yes you can.
The traffic to my website has more than tripled since October and it's because I changed my focus and made some important changes that came from observation and tips from other bloggers on Active Rain.
First off, what's selling in my market right now are homes under $250,000, and more specifically short sales and foreclosures.
Short sales are not for the faint of heart and I don't really want to focus on why in this post.  Foreclosures in my market are increasing, however not nearly as fast … (10 comments)

Now You Can Blog On AR and Exercise...at the same time... - 04:20 PM
Working on your computers while exercising.....unheard of....that is until now.   A doctor from the Mayo clinic apparently invented this "Walkstation" A computer desk with a treadmill built in.. Walking at 1 mph while working, they say it will help you lose, possibly, 57 lbs a year. A little pricey....$6,500 per walkstation. If you are handy you can just buy the treadmill from the company about $695, and build your own desk....

Maryland Tax Assessors have their head in the sand! - 12:24 PM
Unless you live IN the Chesapeake Bay, you can not fail to notice the decline in value of property in Maryland due to the state of the economy.
The sagging housing market doesn't necessarily mean Maryland homeowners will see a decline in their annual property tax bills.

More than 700,000 Marylanders will receive new property assessments later this week. And state and county officials say virtually all of those will be paying higher taxes in 2009.
That's because tax collectors have not yet accounted for the huge decreases in assessed values from earlier in the decade. ARE YOU KIDDING?
So, … (1 comments)

Reviving Your Chico Listing - 03:21 PM
December 29, 2008
In Chico, like many other towns, there are some homes that sell rather quickly, while others linger on the market.  One of the top reasons is home price, location and condition.  For example, bank owned, repossessed homes are usually quick to go because they are priced to sell.
Your Realtor should suggest several approaches to maximize a home's curb appeal -- everything from fresh paint to new landscaping. But if the "For Sale" sign in front of your home has become a neighborhood fixture, a permanent statue that is cemented, or something that is such a common … (0 comments)

NOW you can search for Names on Twitter - 10:00 AM

Image via Wikipedia You probably didn’t notice but Twitter added a name search recently.
That means I can search by first name, last name, or complete name.  It used to be you could only search by username.  That would be fine if you were looking for me, @MikeMueller, but not so fine if you were searching for someone like Daniel Rothamel who goes by @RealEstateZebra.
It seems that it ranks the results based on the number of Followers. That may be fine for certain instances but I’d also like to be able to sort by updates, or other attributes.

The frozen building - 07:17 PM
Well, it's the second time in two years that I have completed inspections of Chicago two flats and found frozen radiators,
The first was last year, the owner was told by a local handy man that he could save money on his gas bill by turning the heat off and let the water trickle out of the faucets. Unfortunately the handy man did not know that the heating system was a hot water boiler, they day before the final walk through the owner went and turned the heat back on and left, little did he know that 4- of the radiators had … (4 comments)

Best Deals in The Ogden Valley - 02:25 PM

I periodically compile a list of the best deals on single family homes, condos, lots and recreational property throughout the Ogden Valley (Eden, Huntsville and Liberty), Utah.  Prices have come down significantly over the past 12-18 months.  For example, out of 160 single family homes listed here, 16 (10%) are listed below $100 per square foot, with prices starting at $179,900 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 1944 square foot home on a .56 acre lot.  There are quite a few great deals on condos as well, with the lowest-priced two bedroom, 1084 square foot condo priced at $175,000.

Is Free Wireless Internet Service in The City Of Mobile's Future? - 10:25 AM
A recent article by the City of Mobile Press Register reported that Mayor Sam Jones had given a directive to the telecommunications and technology departments to look into the plausibility of providing free wireless internet service in downtown Mobile. According to Mayor Jones "That's something we consider a priority. A lot of people are interested in having broadband access.... It would be a selling point for Mobile." Apparently the mayor realizes the potential benefit to business users, and the social impact for our young people.
Currently and for the last few years, Southern Light, a local fiber-optic company located on St. Anthony Street has been providing free wireless internet access in the … (0 comments)

Forest Hills Michigan Absorption Report ~ Dec 2008 ~ The Watermark Residences - 04:21 PM
The Residences at Watermark are located on Watermark Golf
Course  just south of Cascade Road.   If you don't like golf,
get defensive when a stray golf ball rolls into your "yard" you
probably would be better off not buying a home or condo
at Watermark. Of course you would be missing out on the
best golf course in Grand Rapids (no prejudice  here, just
the facts, folks)
Yes, I play Watermark golf course every chance I get. Watermark
is a premier course with a friendly group of players.  We have an
excellent grounds staff and a great pro shop staff.
Watermark single family homes and condos make this a … (0 comments)

Forest Hills MI Absorption Report ~ Dec 2008 ~ East Village Homes - 04:54 PM
The East Village subdivision off  Ada Drive in Ada Township is a fairly
new development. The new housing construction started in 2005 and
is still continuing to date. You can buy a resale home or a new home
in this centrally located housing development.  Near both public and
private schools, East Village is also close to  Forest Hills and 28th
Street shopping areas. The Ada Bike or Walking Trail also connects
this area on Ada Drive with the village of Ada, Grand Rapids, and the
village of Cascade.
East Village is also close by the expressway for easy access to many
different parts of our greater … (0 comments)

Ada Michigan ~ Absorption Report Dec 2008 ~ Ada Woods Homes - 06:46 PM
Ada Woods is an established development of homes in Ada, Michigan,
just west of Ada and south of Fulton Street (M46).  Ada Woods started
out as an E.L. Ladd development,  but towards the end of the project
many lots were sold to other builders and completed by individual owners.
The dates of building range from 1980's to 2005.  Most of the homes
have more square footage and more amenities than Adacroft Commons,
its  adjacent neighborhood.  As with Adacroft Commons, there is designated
common land in the development that remains heavily wooded and in a
natural state.   This development is in the Forest Hills School System and
 close to several private schools.

Forest Hills MI Absorption Report Dec 2008 ~ Cascade Woods - 07:28 PM
Cascade Woods is an established neighborhood of large, executive
style homes in Cascade Township, MI. Most of these homes were
built in the 1960's and 1970's, although there are a few newer
homes that were built recently in the area. Close to the village of
Cascade and the Thornapple  River, this heavily wooded area has
been a Grand Rapids desired suburban place to live for  decades.
Part of the Forest Hills School District, which draws many families,
there is also the river and it's picturesque appeal.  The drive down
Thornapple River Drive between Ada and Cascade in the fall is one
of the prettiest drives in the greater … (0 comments)

Home Stagers - Post Your Favorite KITCHEN Before & After Pictures - 08:53 AM
Kitchens are perhaps one of my most favorite projects.  In fact, it's typically one of the first rooms within the home that I'll stage.  I don't set out to have it be first but... nine times out of ten, it's the first room that gets completed.
Here's a project I did for a builder here in Atlanta.

Goals? Resolutions? What - you mean they matter? - 10:51 AM
First let me state for the record I hate setting goals.  Yes I know I need them to move forward, however for me not accomplishing a goal has always equaled FAILURE!  I know, it's not the accomplishing the goal as much as it the process of getting to that GOAL.
So my first GOAL for the New Year is to set some GOALS!
What are YOUR goals, are they realistic, or mind blowing, outrageous and totally over the top?
Keep in mind I HATE not accomplishing what I say I'll accomplish ..... wrong thought process.....better to not have an accomplishment in mind … (3 comments)

Here a MeMe, There a MeMe, Everywhere a MeMe... - 08:03 PM
For those of you who are new to blogging on Active Rain, MeMe's are our little "Getting to Know You" ritual.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  We've had Book MeMe's, Christmas MeMe's, and we'll probably see Valentine and St. Patrick's Day MeMe's at some point in the future!  When I get tagged, I think of it as a sort of freebee, a post that I don't have to think up a topic for.
Robin Rogers and Pat Kennedy double-tagged me for this MeMe.  And my targeted list of seven will follow.  Here are all of the ground rules that … (7 comments)

10 Things Home Sellers need to know in 2009 - 10:15 AM
The real estate market in 2009 will bring even more challenges to home sellers than 2008. There is no indicator of an upward trend, and we are in the midst of a strong buyer's market. However, buyers are quite tentative as we move into the new year. As we see continuing decreases in the number of real estate agents, new business models, the weakening of print advertising, and ever greater dependence on the Internet for information, we will see the face of the real estate profession change more quickly now. In the years before the bubble burst, it was easy to … (5 comments)

Stay Warm, Jesse - 12:28 PM
I read Jesse Clifton's blog today and it donned upon me, that even with things relatively simple, we often can not understand it fully without actually experiencing it.
He wrote about the extreme temperature that they got. We all know the notion of cold (coldness). Well, this is very relative. We can feel it at 57F here in Miami and 29F in New York, and 10F in St. Paul. The temperatures may be different; the feeling is pretty much the same. Yes, you dress differently in Miami than in St. Paul, but it is still the same feeling when your body … (8 comments)
