Sex offender registry - a false sense of security? - 10:01 AM
I know it's been a while since I've posted but I read something today that really moved me to post.
I still get the newspaper from my hometown - even though I haven't lived there in a very long time. Front page of yesterday's paper was "Convicted Level 3 Sex Offender Rapes 6-year old in Public Library".
In the public library. A place where I always felt safe.
I used to take my kids to the library and drop them off in the children's room while I went to look for my books. We've been a gazillion times. My kids know the library like … (7 comments)

Customer Service Awards Handed out from Mansfield, Missouri - 01:09 PM
I do not work for, nor have affiliation for the companies I am going to write about today.  I have just experienced uplifting great customer service from them and their "mail order" or online shopping, this week.  Acknowledgement just wouldn't stay out of my new blog, Chips, at OzarksMountainCountry.com.  where there is more detail.

Mansfield, Missouri -- GONG Award for Poor Political Polling - 01:13 PM
Just as I was walking in the door on Wednesday, the phone was ringing. When I answered, someone in a surly tone asked me a garbled question.  "Excuse me?"
The surly question was asked a bit more clearly.  "Will you be supporting XXXXXX ( a prominent Democratic candidate for governor of Missouri)?  It almost sounded like a threat, so I responded, "What will happen to me if I don't?"
Growler: "Well, are ya undecided or are ya leanin' toward the Republicans?"  Which, frankly, my dear, is none of  your d--n business.    Not to be bullied and intimidated into silence by a … (2 comments)

More on the convention AND my personal take on the AR gathering in other posts. Be sure to stop by Randy Prothero’s fun post ActiveRain Goes Hawaiian, and Sally Cheeseman’s 2008 First Hawaii ActiveRain Gathering a HUGE Success.
We had some special guests at the party, all of whom are familiar to folks here on AR, ‘specially those who have been around for a bit. Some more so than others. Now to be perfectly clear, these visitors were a bit unusual … (30 comments)

Most Middle Class Still Can't Buy a House - 03:26 PM
According to the real estate article Most Middle Class Still Can't Buy a House on CNNMoney.com most middle income wage earners still do not earn enough money to purchase a median priced home in their hometowns [Center for Housing Policy].  The Center for Housing Policy came to this conclusion on the basis of calculating and comparing 201 metro areas median wages and median house value.  These figures were based on major vocations such as police officers, firemen and educators.  Nonetheless, home prices have fallen in a majority of the 201 metro areas, but home costs were still considered too high for … (0 comments)

Orlando Real Estate - 11:32 AM
When will the Orlando Real Estate Market Hit the Bottom? I get so many buyers asking me, "When will the Orlando real estate market hit the bottom?" To tell the truth, I have given up on trying to estimate when the market will hit bottom. Buyers are being bombarded with information from all over the country about how bad the real estate market is. And yes, if you bought a house in '05 or '06 or even as early as the beginning months of 2007, then it is a bad market for you to sell right now.

However, if … (0 comments)

All Aboard! Buyers - Time to Jump Off the Platform and Get on the Train! - 11:22 AM
ALL BOARD!      ALL ABOARD!
Buyers, thinking about whether or not to buy right now?  Do you need a larger home, need to downsize, retire, purchase a second home, want to invest?  We all know the interest rate has dropped again so that's a plus, but here are a few other reasons why purchasing now is a smart decision:
Volume and Selection!  In the west valley of Maricopa County, there are over 10,000 single-familly resale homes on the market meaning that regardless of the price range a buyer desires, there are plenty of houses from which to choose.  A short time ago, the inventory … (3 comments)

Great Activity in the Market! - 07:11 PM
You know, the media isnt reporting everything!  The market is going strong.  In Middlesex Boro NJ back in 05' when the market was still white hot, the average amount of homes on the market in any given month was between 20-30 homes available.  The average sales each month would be 5-8 homes sold.  Now in 08', the average amount of homes on the market is between 60-70!  Lots of inventory.  However, the number of sales each month is between 5 -8 homes sold!  So, what really changed?  Prices are down and it takes longer to sell your home but with a … (1 comments)
