The Gift of Fear by Gavin DeBecker - 02:01 PM
I was just reading a post about the real estate agent that was killed in Canada a few days ago while on duty. I have my Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement so, this is an area of extreme interest to me. There is a book that was written about 10 years ago by a man named Gavin DeBecker called "The Gift of Fear". This is an excellent book for women and how we as a society condition women to not listen to their intuition about dangerous situations. The plain truth is that sometimes being nice can get you killed. I … (1 comments)

Now Hiring New and Experienced Agents - 09:52 AM
Advance Realty Anne Arundel is one of 9 offices located in Maryland around the Baltimore beltway.  Each Advance office is individually owned and operated and differs in the level of service it provides to it's agents and the benefits that it offers its agents.

The Advance model is built on the consumer driven model of list more sell more.  Our agents consistently list more properties than our competitors … (0 comments)

What do you bring to work? - 03:33 PM
Today I received in the mail a little book of quotations and there are some great ones here.
Gary Hamel says "Imagination and commitment are things that people choose to bring to work every day - or not."
As realtors these two things are probably the optimal things we do or should I say must bring to work every day.  Imagination to help and guide our sellers to prepare their homes for sale, to creatively market homes for sale and creatively draw buyers to the stage and prepare them to purchase homes.
And, commitment to stay the course and stay in the … (1 comments)

Post Sentrilock Observations - 04:39 PM
Now that Anne Arundel County has made the transition to Sentrilock I can see some benefits of using Sentrilock over Supra.  There are increased security measures that I like and some increased opportunities that we didn't have with Supra.
I love the website where I can go in and assign the lockbox to a listing.  I also like that as soon as I remove it the lockbox goes back into my inventory.  I also like that I can easily track who has been in my listings and follow up for feedback.  I can also see who has been in my listings … (2 comments)

What I Would Tell New Bloggers if I Were Asked - 11:39 AM
I suppose I consider myself a fairly seasoned blogger, if only because of the number of posts I have written here (and on 4 other blogs – gadzooks, over 1500 so far) and I have been at it for about 15 months. Not sure I have any other qualifications to recommend asking my advice.
But here it is whether you want it or not.
If you are a new real estate blogger, or are thinking about blogging, and you were to ask me my advice (and some have recently in classes I have taught), here’s what I would tell you, … (70 comments)

I was Going to be Sugar and Spice, However|MLS Again... - 05:06 PM
It shouldn't make a big deal that a property listed as 39000 sq feet is 3900 square feet. Most of us would figure that's the case.
So Sister Suzi (some of you know me by that for a reason:-) gives the broker a call. Yep, its 3900 sq feet. He seemed like he was aware of it and did not give me an indication he would change it.
In past blogs we have talked about "member policing" the MLS. Now, to be rational, we can figure out what he means. We could let it slide.
This is my concern (statisticians), … (45 comments)
