Pythons and Emoticons-- Why It's Hard To Discern Emotion From Online Thoughts - 12:30 PM
There I was reading the San Francisco Chronicle online when the headline grabbed me: "Gulp, The Pythons Are Coming" and I clicked in. Seems there are pet pythons abandoned to the wild in Florida and they've proved highly adaptable and somewhat mobile-- they can, apparently, travel up to 20 miles a day! The story continues with a somewhat forked-tongue-in-cheek description of how long and how possible it would be for these reptiles to make their way across the country. What's great about this story isn't the python, the ludicrous time-line of migration, or the fact that a puff piece like this could (8 comments)
Texas is a Non-Disclosure State - What does that mean? - 01:22 PM
Earlier this week, I took the mandatory 3-hour Legal Update and the 3-hour Ethics courses to renew my real estate license. The concept that surprised most of the agents in the class: we are not to disclose the sales price of homes that have sold. Yes, we can discuss the solds with clients. Yes, we can show the information as part of a comparative market analysis. But we cannot leave the information in print form with anyone who is not a licensee. Information that is recorded at the court house includes the amount of the loan, if there is one. The final sales price of the (33 comments)

Brea ~ California 92821 and 92823 ~ Real Estate Market Update for January 2008. Brea is a wonderful community with a nice balance of residential housing, business and commercial properties. The City is well known for excellence in education. The schools have been a strong draw for residents in our community. Current city population is approximately 40,000 residents. Median price is the city is in the low $700,000 price range. Median income for Brea ~ approximately (9 comments)
Home Buyer Tip - Do Your Homework and Ask If You Don't Know - 01:26 PM
As of recently, more and more buyers have been asking questions on Trulia Voices that pertain to how to get out of a contract for reasons that should have been addressed well before they wrote the offer. In some cases, the issues should have been addressed before even starting to look at homes for sale. Here's a recent question posted by a buyer on Trulia Voices: "Can I back down on a house contract after an inspection on the house and finding out the crime rate?" Doing research on the crime rate is something a buyer should do well before writing an offer on (0 comments)
How to Use Your ActiveRain "Statistics" Page - Viewing Your Subscriber List and Blog Entry Stats - 09:17 AM
Recently, I have written a couple of posts wherein I mentioned thanking my subscribers and the number that I had at the time. Several people (not all of them were newbies) contacted me via comments and emails asking where to find this information. There are actually two places that I would direct you to, one of which you probably see pretty often. On the "My Home" page, the number of subscribers to your blog appears as the last number in the blue shaded block at the top:

Another update on my friend and my mother-in-law - 10:40 PM
This past week, a few people had asked me for updates on my good friend David and on my mother-in-law Jackie, based on the previous posts I have written about each of them. Stimulus Quickie - 04:48 PM
Wow that headline could mena a lot of things. In this case just a quick update for those of us doing loans in Sylmar, Van Nuys, California and the entire country. HUD has 30 days from the day the President signed the package into law to identify the impacted Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA's), so it may be sometime in mid-March before all lenders receive the official pricing notification. At this point anything else is pure speculation. Although several mortgage lenders have promoted lists of what they believe the new limits will be, these are only estimates because HUD has yet to determine (0 comments)
