Project Grow in Ann Arbor - 02:06 PM
Well, we sprung forward in Ann Arbor and Saline, but where is Spring? I don’t know about you but I am ready for summer. Time to see the flowers pop out of the ground.
Did you know you can buy organic flowers to grow in your garden?
According to an Article from Environmental News Network, the flower industry is one of the heaviest users of agricultural chemicals and 60% of the flowers sold in the U.S. are imported from countries whose environmental standards are more lax than ours.
Roses for example can contain up to 50 times the amount of pesticides that are … (23 comments)

Plucking Blogs off Active Rain - 08:32 AM
On the topic of crooks, I have noticed that certain Web sites, one of which is realestatepick.com, has been swiping blogs from Active Rain and posting them online. They do this because they receive revenue from selling advertising on their site.
For some reason, the pictures are not transferring, but some of the alternate titles are, which is how I figured out where they got the blogs. They just copy and paste. Of course, I track links to my About.com site on Technorati, which is how I find some of these. If you don't insert links in your blogs, you won't find … (11 comments)

Why I Am Not Your Mother, Father, Instructor, Doctor or Therapist... - 12:00 PM

Admittedly, it's taken me awhile to understand certain things. I'm of the generation of real estate agents who straddle the rapidly expanding divide between the "old school" and the "new school."  My generation was hooked to the pager.  Early in my career, I had a broker who demanded you answer it within 7 minutes or else the lead was gone. Poof! Given to someone else just like that.  When I left, it took me 3 months to debrief from the trauma of that aspect of my experience.
What I learned from that debacle is this:  No one will DIE if I don't … (33 comments)

The Painted Churches in Hill Country Texas - 06:54 AM

The Painted Churches is a series of historic churches located in the Hill Country area of Central Texas (Southeast region of Austin - to be exact). Many of these churches are Czech and German-inspired because the  immigrants brought with them their architectural style of that era (19th century) when they first hailed to Texas for economic reasons. They brought with them skillful artwork: stencilling, infill, freehand, marbling, staining and graining. These churches are called, "Painted" churches because they are uniquely design/ painted with elaborate and extravagant faux-finished interiors. In 1984, these churches were listed as a part of the National Register … (9 comments)
