When You Don't Get What Your Supposed To - 11:15 PM
Lately, I've had to buy several items that have required assembling, requiring a degree in engineering. The items were mass produced Overseas, and were in sealed unopened boxes. Needless to say, there were pieces missing, not only screws, washers, and nuts and bolts, but legs, and parts to the actual pieces. This has happened more than once from the same store. It can be a nightmare, especially when you assemble on sight (a home) and if the store is closed, your out of luck, These aren't pieces you can run to the 24 hour super center and find. I finally got (4 comments)
What Do You Do To De-Stress? - 11:29 PM
When you are going ninety to nothing, and have no time, or least you don't make the time, when, where, and what do you do to de-stress. Making the time is important to keep your sanity in this face paced world of "I want it now" "Well, I really wanted it yesterday" and "I want it fast". We are stretched too thin, probably don't eat properly, or get adequate sleep or exercise. So for all of you organized time management aficionados, how do you do it? I love to jog, outside preferably, but will jump on the treadmill. I'm fortunate to have (29 comments)

This is my new response to friends, past clients, and people I meet every day. Historic Renovation and Restoration, And California Property Tax Benefits - 09:37 AM
The Mills Act was enacted in California in the 1970's, but is now much more widely known due to its 40-60% reduction in property taxes for qualified properties, and a greater interest in historic preservation.Effective March 7, 1973, Chapter 1442 of the Statutes of 1972 (also known as the Mills Act) allows an owner of qualified historical property to enter into a preservation contract with local government, which establishes its own criteria and determines how many contracts they will allow. When property is placed under such a contract, the owner agrees to restore the property if necessary, maintain its historic character, (0 comments)
And the Moral of the Story Is............ - 11:09 PM
Earlier this week as I drove home in the middle of the afternoon I could hear the sounds of fire engines, of ambulances, of police cars....I could see smoke rising in the sky and I wondered where it came from and said a little prayer for those involved. As I turned onto our street I could see those fire engines and other vehicles with flashing lights and they looked to be right in front of my house! My first thought was of Melissa Grant and her devastating fire just before Christmas last year...then I prayed, then I thought of my babies (36 comments)
Please Let Them In! - Showing Your House - 09:21 AM
When you put your home on the market one of the most important things you can do is allow people - potential buyers - to come into your house and look around. It is the rare buyer who, because of circumstances beyond their control, might buy a house sight unseen. I have actually had a couple of clients in my career buy a house without stepping inside but it was due to them being overseas. I took plenty of photos of the inside and made a full report of what I found. Luckily they trusted my judgment and they got (15 comments)

Earth Day 2008: Earth Day 911; Making Every Day Count! - 10:43 AM
Some of us may be thinking...Earth Day ...Another New Scuppie Concept, but It's Not New At All! On April 22nd, 1970 Wisconsin Senator Gaylor Nelson, began a "teach-in" rally to protest the governments environmental ignorance. Over the past 38 years April 22nd "Earth Day" has been chosen as a day to celebrate the importance of the environment and has been used to educate and inspire action to live a greener life. Senator Nelson's "teach-in" eventually led to legislation including the Environmental Policy Act (1969), the Clean Air Act (1970), the Clean Water Act (1977) and fuel efficiency standards for automobiles. I was born in 1970 and that seems (1 comments)
Going Green in Your Household - 02:42 PM
We can all make small efforts in our homes to protect the environment. We simply need to be conscious of what we can do in our daily routine. Take care when disposing Household hazardous waste. Did you know the pharmaceuticals and your personal care products (PPCPs) can be dangerous for the environment if improperly disposed?Properly Store your meds until you are ready to dispose of them. They can effect the ground water if not disposed correctly. Donate your old electronic devices or take them to a collection event instead of putting them in the trash or down the drain, These items make up the bulk of (0 comments)
Real Estate News: Make It Local - 06:03 PM
My clients read and watch the real estate news closely, but they don't always correctly understand what it means to them. I try to explain what I hear and read regularly in my blog so that it makes sense in the context of the Flagstaff home market. Listening to the national real estate news is a great way to get blogging ideas. I think you need to take the next step and make that national news relevant at the local level. One example is my post this week about New Home Construction Statistics. Mid-week, the U.S. Commerce Department issued first quarter statistics (7 comments)

How is the Condo-Hotel Market in Daytona Beach Area? - 11:56 PM
Daytona Beach real estate is not different from any other area in Florida. If you are talking to agents about the market, you feel some dose of optimism. Agents are saying that the market is busier, and they think that this is the beginning of the warm up, or the market going to where it should be. Well, if we look at Daytona real estate, and more specifically at condo-hotel market, it does not support that rosy view, and reflects what many of us noticed, when agents see not what is there (which is the bear market), but what they rather would (0 comments)
