Did you know that we do have some "Green homes" here in the greater Redding Ca area? We even have an incredible 3 story straw bale home with solar and wind power and a generator. This home is on the westside and just outside the city limits. It has incredible views of the entire valley and is perched up on a knoll.
I see many people marketing homes as green now days. The problem is that I also see Realtors/agents that are calling homes green that are far from being truly green! Just because you have great windows and extra insulation doesn't mean that … (0 comments)

Cary's finest in dining, shopping, and fitness - The Arboretum at Weston - 03:44 PM
Jim Goodnight's influence on North Cary is evident with one of my favorite retail destinations in Cary - The Arboretum.  Just minutes from SAS Intitutes campus this is such a wonderful addition to Cary.  I had to write about the Arboretum today because my daughter, Jordan,  just started her 1st job at one of the retail establishments - Cafe Carolina at the Arboretum.  My husband, Mauro and I, dropped in for a fantastic lunch and to visit Jordan too!
Here's a look as some of the fabulous destinations at the Arboretum:

Active Rain outside blog header help:

Sometimes techies forget that what might be obvious to us, might not be obvious to everyone else.
In the past few days I received a couple of emails from Rainers asking why the blog headers I had designed didn't look right when they uploaded them into their AR outside blog.

Right now Active Rain offers 2 options for your outside blog, one theme (layout) is titled Attack Rabbit and the 2nd theme is titled Blue Bull. Does Cranky Cat and Diggity Dog come next? Sorry, just … (71 comments)

How to Avoid Getting Scammed by a Contractor: Tips and Suggestions - 04:21 PM
To be very honest, the reason for writing this post is because I am a victim of an unscrupulous general contractor who is currently licensed by California State Contractor's Board, operates out of Monrovia California and is continuing to take advantage of consumers.
I am hoping that by sharing my story, you will be able to avoid a similar situation and be smarter in making hiring and payment decisions.
My story begins just like most when I was in the process of getting my house ready for sale.  Prior to putting my San Gabriel home on the market and listing it in our Multiple … (64 comments)

Carlsbad Restaurants - Le Passage in Carlsbad Village (LOCALISM FEATURED) - 12:01 PM
It somehow seems fitting to write about a favorite restaurant right after talking about a neighborhood named after a winery.
You know - food and wine? And who knows better than the French!

Carlsbad has plenty of restaurants to enjoy, in the village itself as well as scattered throughout the town. A few are very high end, some are memorable and charming, and others are basic and budget-oriented.

Le Passage, a French bistro in the heart of Carlsbad Village at 2961 State Street (1/2 block north of Carlsbad Village Drive) is a favorite of mine. This charming little … (22 comments)

Sellers Say They Are Officially Motivated - 12:49 PM
I was glad to see this news on the MLS listing I saw yesterday.

It’s nice to be told this when considering a home for clients. I expect buyers searching for Carlsbad homes were glad to see it as well.
Thank goodness someone is officially serious. Or are they?
You have to wonder why it was announced, almost like a headline in the media.
Was it to catch our eye?
Was it a unique marketing ploy?
Does this mean the sellers were not really motivated before (the house was not a new listing) but now they ARE getting … (13 comments)

Springfield Mo Farmers' Market - Springfield Mo Attractions - 06:28 PM
If you've never gone to a local Farmer's Market, check out the Springfield Mo Farmers' Market.
The market features 90 venders, selling farm-fresh vegetables, eggs, hand-crafted jewelry, baked goods, beef, pork, chicken, fresh cut flowers, plants, cantaloupes, watermelons, fresh corn, and many other items.
I recently found out about the market from a client.  Not only does it save her money, it is a great way to shop for weekly food staples that are home grown without the use of harmful chemicals or pesticides.
Nothing tastes better than home grown tomatoes, new potatoes and Amish pastries.

Lead Generation Predators - Realtors BEWARE - GetMyHomesValue - 10:05 AM
Realtors, the only way we can truly save our industry from companies that prey on Realtors is to discuss our experiences.  The issues I experienced with GetMyHomesValue.com, I wouldn't want any other professional in our industry to experience.

GetMyHomesValue.com representative called me and "Over Promised and Under Delivered", on the services they were providing to Realtors.  The service is basically feeding you leads, that are 99% bogus.  The company promises to validate the leads as they arrive to ensure the leads are truly good.  The company rarely verified the leads, and provided leads that were 2 months old.  At first, … (9 comments)

Turtle Season, Singer Island, Fl - 06:46 PM

2008  Turtle season is underway.  Juno Beach Marine Life Center has nightly walks which is fun for the whole family.
From the middle of June till the end of October, eggs buried on the beaches of South Florida will spring hatchlings that dig their way out of the nest and race toward the ocean waters. During nesting season, turtles produce as many as 15,000 nests a year in Palm Beach County. About 1 million turtles emerge, about 50% to 70% of the total eggs laid, but researchers believe only 100 to 1000 survive to sexual maturity.
