What is this RE-BLOG flag? - 12:24 AM
I have been away for a few days, and I just loaded 4 listings and the new Re-blog flag is at the top of my new blogs. What does this mean? Does anyone have the answer? They were all new listings so I am confused. I think that an email should be sent to the new changes that take effect on Active Rain.

An Elk Grove Neighborhood That Pulled Together - 12:23 PM
Neighbors in Elk Grove CA will be celebrating the GRAND Opening of the fruit of their labor, Morse Community Park on August 16, 2008
Even though this area has been hit hard with real estate foreclosures and short sales, along with declining revenue to build parks in these new neighborhoods, Morse Community Park is a true testament of neighbors who care.
These homeowners got together, got the community to help by donating money, time and labor along with CSD to build what is a first in Elk Grove parks.
Morse Community Park offers "spray-ground" water area, bocce ball courts, skateboard area, tot play area with shaded areas, outdoor fitness equipment, restrooms, seating for … (8 comments)

Carlsbad Apple Store Opens to Throngs and Cheers - 10:57 PM
This morning, I thought I would drop by the Grand Opening of Apple's new store at the Carlsbad Forum before heading out to show properties.
As I pulled into that large parking lot, I couldn't believe my eyes.  There was a line four-deep that stretched from one end of the Forum to (and around) the other.  There were young and old and every age in between.
Black-coated security guards maintained crowd control, and Jimbo's Market from around the corner offered crisp organic apples to those waiting in line.  Everyone seemed in good spirits, and I heard cheering in  the distance coming from … (6 comments)

Simple Staging Techniques to Prepare Your Home For Sale - 07:15 PM
When you are preparing your home for sale, no matter how beautiful you may feel that it is, there is ALWAYS something that can be done to enhance the space. Here is a picture of a home that I recently staged. As you can see the furnishings and decor were beautiful.
What the space lacked was proper arrangement of furniture and poor definition. I was met with much resistance from the clients as this layout was previously designed by an interior decorator. My first recommendation was to remove the large china closet and make it part of the dining room.
Definition...ALWAYS … (16 comments)

Apex NC Real Estate - It's a Great Time to Buy in Apex, NC - 08:02 AM
I recently sponsored Apex, NC with Localism.com.  As a part of my sponsorship I think it's important to provide a few distinct elements for the community:
Area profile Why should you choose Apex, NC for your next home? A look at what's currently going on in the real estate market in that area. I've taken care of the 1st two items so now it's time to take a look at the real estate market in Apex.
It's a great time to buy a home in Apex!  Homes are selling in Apex.  The current crop of sellers that are motivated … (6 comments)

Jimmy V Ride for Research and Cary Cycling Celebration - 08:32 AM
Sunday, August 17, 2008Koka Booth Amphitheatre, Regency Park, Cary
Jim Valvano is a legendary icon in the Triangle.  Ever since he succumbed to cancer in 1993 his family has carried on his legacy raising awareness of cancer and cancer research.  Earlier this month I wrote about the Jimmy V Rackets for Research which is a great event and a tremendous success.  Tomorrow the Jimmy V fundraisers continue with the 3rd Annual Jimmy V Ride for Research and Cary Cycling Celebration.  They are expecting over 500 cyclists so watch out for traffic delays and cyclists near the Regency area tomorrow.

atomkeep - 04:28 AM
Thanks to people like Bill Gassett and several others, I get invites to join new social networks just about everyday. And if you're like me, you just can't say 'No!"  You're always afraid that you'll be missing out on the latest and greatest craze.
Realistically though, there's only so many hours in the day, and we need to be wise/prudent in where we spend/invest our social networking time. At a bare minimum, I normally will join most new networks, and simply take the time to fill out a basic profile.  If the premise/vision of the platform appears to have some meaningful … (22 comments)

"Majority Original Content" or "What's the Point of Points?" - 09:16 PM
Unspoken rules and guidelines don't cut it. Especially in a social network the size of ActiveRain.
While it's been made quite clear from the very beginning that points are earned and bestowed to ActiveRain members who contribute their own original content, there's been a few 'unspoken' areas that are in dire need of clarification and specific mention. We've been entirely much too lax towards this issue, and it's time for us to put a little more meat on the requirements as to what constitutes 'point-worthy' content.
Let's address the obvious, shall we?
Jokes. There's nothing wrong with jokes. We can all … (175 comments)

ActiveRainers Featured in Today's Washington Post - 08:38 AM
Congrataulations Bob Carney and Frank Llosa - You're world-famous!
The featured article by Sione Baribeau in the real estate section of today's WASHINGTON POST starts out...
Jeanne Bobofchak, 31, was looking for a real estate agent, but she wanted to avoid the awkwardness of choosing among her friends recommendations.  So she went online and found agent Bob Carney's blog, FocusOnFrederick.com.
The information on the Frederick community was detailed, the comments from former clients were glowing, and Carney seemed as if he would be fun to work with.
Although Bob does focus more on this blog than his ActiveRain blog these days, … (27 comments)

4 Steps to Building Your Brand and Marketing Pieces for FREE! - 07:35 PM

This one is a Doozie!! I know my past few posts have been about one cool tool or another, but trust me on this one too, as it is COOL!
As many businesses such as Stagers, and Real Estate Virtual Assistants know, one of the first priorities to getting off the ground is to create a "brand" for your company, and reflect that in your marketing pieces. From logos, to letterhead, envelopes, business cards and brochures, you name it, WE NEED IT! However, as talented as we are in our businesses, we are not all capable of being graphic designers … (68 comments)

Temple Terrace in Monterey Hills is Unique among Many - 10:23 AM
Temple Terrace is a beautiful complex in Monterey Hills. It is very unique for the area since it consists of both condos and townhomes. It is located on Via Marisol, but the postal address is Temple Terrace.

There are 75 condos and 47 townhomes in this complex. It is beautifully landscaped and has mature trees and lush foliage. As you walk around the complex, you almost get a resort-like, almost cottage-like feel.
It is the only complex on the hill that has gas range/ovens. Everything else in Monterey Hills is electric. So if you like to cook with gas and … (4 comments)

A New Way to Write a Post on Your Blog: Use Voice Cloud - 02:19 AM
I just discovered another really cool way to write a post.
For those of you who have used Jott before you probably know that you can send Jott to your blog on Blogger (see my test post), Wordpress or other applications.
Jeff Turner wrote a great post introducing us to Jott a few months ago…if you haven't seen it, check it out. You can write a short post by calling into Jott, recording the post and sending it to the appropriate link, whether it's on Blogger, Wordpress, Twitter or others sites Jott allows; you set up the links directly on Jott … (23 comments)

Leucadia - Annual Art Walk on August 31, 2008 - 07:39 PM
The 4th Annual LeucadiArt Walk is coming to Leucadia on Sunday August 31 from 10 - 5 pm.
This annual art festival is a popular event along the historic 101 corridor, with about 1 mile of artists and shops to explore.
There are musical and dance performances, a raffle, art demonstrations, children's activities and so much more.
This is a terrific family event and a great chance to see what artisty we have in Leucadia, the next door neighbor to Carlsbad. Plus you get a chance to support the local artisans along Mainstreet and experience the cool, funky feel of Leucadia … (3 comments)

FHA 203K -- The Complete Guide - 07:36 AM
A member of the ECO-All-Stars Group (about 750 AR Members) Jonathan offers an interesting perspective on "greening'  home loans --in an article he wrote called "go GREEN with FHA"  I am including it here on Green-o-Lina's BLOG for review, and with Jonathan's own caveat:
" The end result of any process can rarely be guaranteed, but when done correctly on a purchase loan with an experienced loan officer and knowledgeable REALTOR home buyers can successfully use a FHA 203K loan to create a custom designed home with substantial equity from day one. .... If done correctly FHA 203K loans are one of the … (3 comments)
