Is Being "Almost in a Recession" Like Being A "Little Pregnant"? - 11:42 AM
Banks Inducing Housing Market Coma - My previous posting. Our economy can't stay "frozen forever" teetering on the truth about being in a recession. So, I have been thinking what may be in store for us... ...I think banks are going to DRAMATICALLY DROP THE PRICES of the foreclosures they have been hanging onto (?next year?) -- and interest rates are going to go up! A Fed Rate Increase In The Making "... The Fed's last several interest rate cuts may have helped bank balance sheets, but the firms did not lend that money to anyone else. Consumers cannot get loans. Neither can most businesses. The LBO market (0 comments)

Do You Take Off Work on Labor Day? - 09:40 AM
Because of cell phones and computers, how do you get away from work on Labor Day? I just heard the trucks on my street scraping up garden refuse, so I know that some Sacramento city workers don't take off Labor Day. I suspect it's because they can earn time-and-a-half. Plus, it's an early morning job. But do you take off Labor Day? Relax with the family, go to the beach or on a hike or maybe just stay home and read a book? I received an email this morning from an Lori Kim Polk, wishing me a happy Labor Day and (40 comments)
I mean to post this graph a couple days ago because it shows exactly how far inventory has dropped in Sacramento. This shows there are 3.7 months of inventory in July, which means it would take less than four months to sell every home presently for sale. Typically, it's a seller's market when there are more buyers than sellers and inventory dwindles to a couple months. It's a buyer's market when there are more sellers than buyers and inventory exceeds 6 months, give or take. Neutral markets exist between 3 and 6 months of inventory. If you're wondering about whether (2 comments)
Mortgage fraud thrives even in this market - 09:48 PM
The real estate market is pretty tough right now in countless areas of the country. There are many reasons to it, one of which is the mortgage industry. Due to severe losses recently lenders have tightened their underwriting standards and flat out cut off many home loan programs that got them in trouble to begin with. They are also increasingly dealing with another concern and that is mortgage fraud. Mortgage Asset Research Institute is the main shop around gathering data on mortgage fraud and then putting together periodic reports on it. Its second quarter release shows that there was a (28 comments)
Movie Review: Traitor (Now playing at the Hemet Movie Theater) - 11:39 PM
When I go to see a movie, all I want is a great story, powerful performances, a few laughs and a way of looking at the world that challenges my mind. Is that too much to ask? :) Okay...that is too much to ask of every movie, I know. But in this case, Hollywood has delivered. Traitor is a pulse-pounding thriller. But it's more than that. It's the story of a man of faith (Hotel Rwanda's Don Cheadle) stuck in the middle of the war on terror. I was shocked that critics were 'meh' on this movie. I was riveted. It worked (3 comments)

Faux Food Overload - 09:20 AM
I recently attended my first interior design course at the local community college for a two year interior design degree. One of our first assignments is to go to a model home and just look at how it was decorated. While I love looking at model homes this has fallen by the wayside with my current busy schedule so this was an assignment I was looking forward to. I choose a 1.5 million dollar property that had a $300,000.00 decorating budget. The model was beautiful and no expense was spared. The one disturbing item I kept seeing over and over again was faux (36 comments)

Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM- Farmers Market and Slow Food - 03:16 PM
The Los Ranchos de Albuquerque farmers market was on schedule yesterday as it is on Saturdays throughout the growing season. This last weekend in August, the market happens to coincde with the California slow food celebrations. There was no hint the vendors and customers were aware of the California happenings but the market had a festive air. It was a family affair. Children and dogs were in attendance and men and women vendors were at stands selling colorful and delicious looking fruit and vegetables . The craft on the stands were attractive and everyone seemed to be having fun. I bought 'Placitas plums' from two young women of high (6 comments)
Keller Willliams Mega Camp Focuses on Shift - 06:04 PM
Real estate is local but sometimes we have to leave our local area to learn how to work. The Keller Williams Mega Camp in Austin offered just such an opportunity last week, and I travelled from Albuquerque to Austin to take advantage of it. MegaCamp was informative and motivating. It was all about Shift - the Keller Williams book on how to approach the shift in the market and how to shift gears, so to speak. Getting together with some four to 5 thousand people to analyze the current real estate market and hear Gary Keller's interpretation of how to approach the market was helpful. It (7 comments)
There are no “Sold” stickers left in St. John’s and Running Shoes Required - 05:58 AM
I think I should buy stock in Nike, Reebok or some other comfy shoe company. My feet are tired; my pretty summer shoes have been tossed into the back seat of the car and there are no “sold” stickers left in St. John’s. What’s happening? Its no big secret, the provincial government signed a memorandum of understanding last August 2007 with several oil partners and since then the market has increased almost 35% in one year. Recreational properties have increased almost 22% and I’ve gone begging and pleading to my office mates for a “sold” sticker I need to put on (10 comments)
Foreclosures in Maryland. . WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? - 04:57 PM
Foreclosures in Maryland (Report by Fernando Herboso & Associates) Foreclosures. .what are you waiting for? As of now, market conditions are giving indications that buyers are starting to sweat about multiple offers and sellers of foreclosures are having respect for their asking prices. In some cities in Maryland , there still large inventories of foreclosed homes waiting for buyers to buy them. . but the change in the market we are seeing right now is slowly spreading in Maryland. When banks are putting agressive prices, they can easily expect to receive multiple offers for their foreclosures for sale. Some foreclosures are stagnant in the market (0 comments)
