Husband asks me "when am I going to get a job?" - 06:16 PM
My husband is frustrated with me being in Real Estate. It's been over 5 years since I started Real Estate and it was good to me in the first 3 years, after that it's gone down hill. It's not from lack of effort that's for sure. I have spent thousands of dollars in marketing, done my share of open houses, broker opens, teach classes. I am a full time Realtor and I am dedicated to this. I have a passion for this business and love making clients friends for life. This is truly what has kept me in this business. But … (21 comments)

Starting a FREE networking group? - 09:45 PM
I am sure most of you have heard of several networking groups that charge a fee. I have subbed for one of the bigger networking groups (sure you know which one I am talking about, so don't need to name it) and let me tell you - I think I could start my own group and make it successful. My only questions are should it be businesses related to Real Estate -(such as, painter, handyman, electrician, roofer, etc) or should I have businesses like Avon, Coffee shops, Floral, Printers, etc? I only want to have individuals in the group that I would … (6 comments)

Listing appointment via email. - 10:12 PM
I had a referral this week for a listing. They contacted me via email and stated that their contract for their last Realtor was up and that they wanted to see what I had to offer. Keep in mind that, they were referred to me 6 months ago and they decided to go with a friend of a friend. Now 6 months later,  home hasn't sold and they are asking for my help. But first would like to know what my commission is via email and basically know all about my marketing plan. First of all, I don't do listing appointments … (8 comments)

Christmas gift idea for clients that gets them to call you! - 10:46 PM
My idea to start a networking group, sparked another idea to make my own "yellow pages" directory for my past clients and something to give to future prospects. After establishing the group which gives me a couple of months - I would then have everyone in the business networking group - contribute to advertise their company (which is way cheaper than the actual yellow pages or newspaper) in our own booklet. (#1 which means I need to find a printing company for my group). They could advertise coupons, or discount by just stating they seen them in the booklet. I want my … (5 comments)

Labor Day...summer over? - 08:44 PM
Well Labor Day has come and gone and once again the crowds have diminished.  Living and working on the island, it seems we need to better market October through December on the beach.  Walking on the beach is so much nicer after the summer season.  The temperatures have cooled off somewhat and there are fewer sunbathers.
If you want to walk your pet, this is also a good time to take to the beach.

Why do you blog? - 02:41 PM
This is a follow-up to yesterday's post Is Your Blog Crap?.
In that post I shared a conversation between myself and my husband Brett concerning blogging.  More accurately his opinion on blogging and how he feels it is a passing fad which is quickly becoming overdone.  For the record, I don't agree with that blanket statement, but he does have some valid points.
Last night he went on to say, (before I changed the subject) that "blogging has become the new treadmill to be put on by the marketing people.  You have to blog because everyone else in your industry blogs; … (23 comments)
